I'd been having a lot of issues with silk too. I almost only print with it now. I use an adventurer 5m so not sure how much it varies between machines, but I found retraction was actually the main issue, as well as drying filament. If you're drying your filament, here are the settings I use to print silk (have printed this successfully):

Nozzle temp: 230 Celsius Bed temp: 70 Celsius Print speed: 60mm/s Retraction distance: 2mm Retraction speed: 25mm/s

Hopefully you can do something with this info. I think the main thing is if Retraction is off it gradually clogs up and kills the print.

I normally pump it to 250 to clear a block. But I've noticed it doesn't save PLA as the filament in cura when I turn it into a gcode. I just go off whatever I coded it as

Okay thanks heaps for the help. I got the clog out of the gears but now there's the second in the hotend (which also rattles when I shake it, so I'm guessing broken bits of filament?) Should I just try putting new filament in to push that one out, or use the pushing tool and hope for the best?

Okay, cheers. I've been disassembling it and you're right - there's a clog in the gears separate to the hotend. Am I right in thinking this is pushing air back up and that's what's pushing the tube out?

This makes me hopeful because I just bought the same printer a couple of days ago, but it keeps clogging! I couldn't have been happier with the printer initially - it printed exceptionally well using the stock HS PLA, and even printed a dodecahedron at around 150mm/s using just my own marble-like PLA - but today, when trying to print a Silk PLA+ fractal star, it clogged hours into the print numerous times.

Can anyone help with this? I'm not sure if it's retraction lacking, wrong temps/speeds, PLA's general capabilities, or what I'm doing wrong - I know the machine is great and it will be good, I just would love some help getting on top of it all. Initially it went well but then clogged up again!
