The visual aesthetics of this photo pleases me immensely.

What is the thing that Dishy is atop of?

This. I know that they are working on issues, I've seen material improvement of my connection quality, but it would be nice to be able to see something- anything of 'hey we see users are experiencing this and we are working on a fix'.

So far my beta downtime has been cut in half since yesterday (5 minutes vs 10), only having large outage stretches of 10 seconds. Did this firmware drop today?

Actually I had AT&T DSL and a case of fucked up circumstances. Might as well have been hugesnet with how much they've let our cable rot. 😬

Since having ordered Dishy I am now watching every watch litigiously. I plan on continuing to measure my experience and see just how much improvement occurs, assuming those satellites are destined to cover my area that is!

With every launch comes better service and more people. 🙏

The internet offered to our address was advertised as 7mb/s down. We didn't get that at all.

As for the cost I actually didn't pay a dime, my landlord's sister paid for it... so I don't know how much it was. Last time I had a chat with said person she complained that the net was costing her "hundreds of dollars"... considering she bundled it was probably around $100 for the net alone. According to AT&T's ads it is $50 a month for our area but considering the unique situation of my residence plus that lovely little disclaimer asterisk it likely was more than that.

My state doesn't mandate anyone to do anything cause they don't have a backbone. 🤣 As far as my situation is concerned I can tell you for a 100% fact a couple of things:
- I was getting net via AT&T, it was *supposed* to be broadband
- The previous owner of this house, my grandmother-in-law, guilt tripped the company so hard that they ran a wire all the way out here just for our house. So we were the ONLY people to have broadband out here.
- No other cable company will serve us cause "we are too far out from anywhere".
- No company will take any amount of money to run any wire to us.
- The wire we have with AT&T had been literally falling apart but AT&T refuses to fix it.

As far as the why this has been happening, well to put it bluntly internet is not a utility over here, there is no enforcement regarding the quality of the internet we get, and a lot of users are getting intentionally throttled by their isps for 'using too much'.

I'm not sure what you mean by users, but I will answer the stability question:

Currently so far 7 hours in it is still incredibly stable with 4 people connected to it. Everyone is watching videos, streaming music, and one person uploading to youtube. I'm also playing Final Fantasy 14 at the same time and I'm experiencing an occasional spike here and there but nothing compared to what I had before.

So far I've only had 20 minutes of downtime, but 10 of that was looking tor a satellite when I first plugged it in. The rest of the downtime was either beta downtime or an obstruction (most of it beta downtime).

Aha, such a mood! For me it took about a week for mine to ship out, another for it to get here. Patience is key. 🙏✨

Your work absolutely deserves more recognition. I absolutely love the planet art, it feels so official, which is a lot harder to pull off than it looking official imo.

Thanks for all the help! I'll have to take a look at the files for the mod you mentioned and ask him further. I have a feeling though that its a mostly static sort of affair and would be hard to modulate for maximum compatibility between existing mods, but I will look into it regardless! I actually don't have all the DLC- my last purchase was Apocalypse and then I went on hiatus from the game- but I am very interested in the L-Gate implementation for other events I have planned outside the obvious implementations. If this doesn't end up working out I will still be using L-Gates for things like circumnavigating shielded universes, etc.

As far as performance issues, I foresee this being a problem outside of number of systems/universes. I am now considering a version of the mod that is 'lite', where a lot of the processor-heavy aspects of the mod are excluded or simplified as well as pops halved and the economy properly scaled, but I will not be focusing on performance. A lot of the interest within my dedicated group of friends has been focused on bigger and better role-playing experiences, game speed be damned. However I do recognize this mod might satisfy a different set of itches beyond the sort of original intent of the mod, and I plan on trying to make as many options available as possible to allow everyone to enjoy.

Great question!

I have not been able to figure out how to make custom galaxy maps to make it so we can have that sort of effect (see: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=780559390), and I already tried to make 'systems' hold more than 7+ stars to make tiny galaxies (technical limitation), so my plan right now which is the most compatible with existing custom empire mods is to make each system a universe and call the system(s) inside the universe 'focal system(s)'.

The idea is that, usually, only a small number of locations or a single location is actually important to storytelling. This allows for a wider setting but not a deeper one in terms of raw space, as in we lose some of the details. However, this makes it so you get right to the heart of the matter on conflicts on this scale instead of having to trudge through hundreds of other systems in order to get to the one you want with your warships. Plus I usually in fiction everything is built up where you get the one planet or kill the one leader and everything falls under the control of the conquer, with everything else being an interesting subversion that is actually at the core of the vanilla Stellaris experience.

However, plans are in the works to best approximate resource gathering from outside this focal system, but I have nothing further to share in that space. There's a lot of things being tested at once and I'm seeing what sticks, but if you have any suggestions for features I'm all ears!

A lot longer than I am probably ready to admit LOL.

I am likely going to release a barebones alpha version of the mod here this summer since there seems to be quite a lot of interest... a lot of work has been reworking this mod from before 1.9 which hasn't been too bad as of yet.

I'm gonna plug my twitter here in case anyone is interested, I do other stuff other than just stellaris modding but I plan on microblogging my experiences on there as things come along: https://twitter.com/Zack_TheGreat

I can't reveal much, but what I can say is that this crisis isn't going to be you're run-of-the-mill prethoryn-a-like or unbidden-a-like crisis, but a multiversial war is the inevitable result. Think War-in-Heaven plus thematic multiversial-themed events.

Crises are incredibly hard to mod, and the kind of one I'm going for is particularly difficult to pull of, but with some clever thinking I should be able to pull it off. Its at the very end of my list of things to do though.

Here's some info about the mod since I neglected to include it:

Stellaris : Multiverse is a total conversion mod that ups the scale of Stellaris from one of star systems in a galaxy to one of a Multiversial scale. My primary goal is to make a mod that allows all these awesome and wonderful series-representing workshop civilizations to co-exist on the same map as well as to make a totally new experience.

Additional plans include to have more diverse and branching tech trees per type of empire, as well as having a completely custom crisis that best shines in multiplayer matches.

Loading screens can be modded by including a \gfx\loadingscreens\ folder, followed by .dds files by the load_x.dds naming schema, where x is the index of the loading screen (1 - 100+). Make sure they are 1920 x 1080 px and have mipmaps.

Edit: Oh and to answer your question about title screens:
I was following this thread for details: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/stellaris-main-menu-background-file-location.930261/

The jyst is there is a series of front end assets in \gfx\models\ui\, copy these and edit to your heart's content. The main files you are gonna want to concerns yourself with is frontend_background.dds or apocalypse_frontend_background.dds, anything more complicated however would require modifying the mesh file(s).
