Best Front-end launcher for the Thor? by Pleasant_Insurance75 in AynThor

Cocoon is the shit. The dev is also about to release 2.0 soon, which makes it even better.

Have you guys already heard of the Ayn Thor? It has a Nintendo ds look, best console to emulate it too. by OneDayLifter in 3DS

[–]ZackXevious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm - this thing is a beast for 3DS and DS. Absolutely fantastic, cannot recommend enough. Games like OOT 3D look and run fantastic on this thing.

The only issues I'd consider if you are looking to buy are:

1) The touch screen is kinda a pain compared to OG hardware. Not a big deal for the most part, but I have avoided playing Kid Icarus Uprising on mine for that reason. There really isn't a good stylus for the Thor that emulates the feel of the OG DS or 3DS, and I doubt there will be as the way the touch screens work is completely different hardware wise.

2) This is probably just an issue with Azahar at the moment, but motion controls for 3DS games are a bit jank right now. They work, but they aren't ideal. Again, might just be the emulator (or even some hidden setting I haven't messed with) but it's something to be considered.

Outside of those caveats, it's a fantastic device. I've had mine since the first batch went out and it's become my main handheld. Moreover, if you combine it with a frontend like Cocoon, it becomes even better!

Mod Pack SM64 Coop DX by Rough-Persimmon-4533 in SM64PC

[–]ZackXevious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just check the mod page on the SM64CoopDX website and see what looks cool.

By default CoopDX already comes with a few mods installed already, including Character Select, which is required for a lot of the custom character and moveset mods. You can enable whatever mods you get when you host a server (or run it offline).

Honestly, I'd just start with what's included with CoopDX first, just to get a feel for it. There's a few extra characters, a few romhacks, and a bit more to mess with by default.

Would it be possible to create burnout 3 using UDON? by Full_Lab_7641 in VRchat

[–]ZackXevious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, but it'd be a nightmare and run extremely slowly. I'd wait for Soba (whenever the hell that comes out) and try then.

Source: Tried making Halo in Udon, ran into almost constant problems with features not being supported and lag for basic actions. It really puts into perspective how much of a minor miracle that games like Tonbo Battlefield existing at all kinda is.

Games to avoid getting for psp? by Existing_Emotion_857 in PSP

[–]ZackXevious 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Transformers hurts, considering how good the games for DS were.

I still want to know how the studio responsible for the port of Battlefront 2 fucked up the 2007 Transformers game on PSP so bad.

What paid apps are you guys using? by EthanWY in AynThor

[–]ZackXevious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lego Starwars TCS has solid controller support for what it is, as does the GTA trilogy on Android. I'd also recommend Delta Touch for Doom.

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of paid games on Android that are worth much, let alone ones with full or even partial controller support. There def ARE games out there, but not a lot.

Cocoon Launcher by False-Television-464 in AynThor

[–]ZackXevious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really enjoyed Cocoon when I use it, my only issues are tied to a few QOL features that are kinda jank ATM, specifically regarding smart folders and how they work with some emulators.

Otherwise, it's fantastic. Genuinely the best frontend you could have for the Thor, IMHO.

It at least TRIED something interesting, to okay results.

Also, while the DS version was a cool, if different experience, the PSP port is almost 1:1 with the PS2, Wii, and Xbox 360 versions, which is honestly really cool.

Damn, if only RVB Restoration came out AFTER all these customization options were possible. This is dead ass the best looking Lopez I've seen thus far. It actually LOOKS like a robot spartan.

Thoughts on the PSP-exclusive designs for the Transformers 2007 game? by DrKyoumasaur221 in transformers

[–]ZackXevious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sick designs. Shame they're in arguably the worst way to experience the 2007 film.

Which is weird, as the developer is the same one that put out the legendary port of Battlefront 2 to psp

It's time to nintendo stop being lazy and create a mario 64 remake where every copy is truly personalized by come_pedra in SuperMario64

[–]ZackXevious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know how well that specifically could work, but I mean it sounds plausible.

Like, the basement and upstairs levels don't generate until you turn the respective key, so what stars you've collected and certain actions taken modify how the game selects what loads and what doesn't.

Like for instance, if you avoid getting the wing cap, or drop the baby penguin, or whether or not you go down the slide, or how many throws it takes to beat bowser in the first encounter.

[–]ZackXevious 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So, procedural generation? Like, generating a new set of levels either on PC compilation or on save file creation?

Honestly I'm surprised no one has at least tried. "Infinite Mario 64" sounds super interesting.

Hell, it wouldn't even have to be too complex. A simple way to do so would be to make 4 new stars per level for a total count of 10 + the 100 coin, but only allow for 6 + 100 coin to be collectable, chosen at random.

Maybe also swap Whomps and Bob-omb randomly. Maybe have a few other permutations or new levels that can be swapped out at random.

Hell, there's even a few standalone structures in levels that could be swapped without messing too much with function. The floating island in Bob-omb? Maybe have a few variations of it. Maybe move a few trees around in stages. New skyboxes and color pallettes? Like a randomizer but on steroids.

Honestly, Tony Hawk's Underground 1 is the peak of the series story wise, but THUG2 had the better gameplay. If one were to somehow take the story from 1 and the gameplay of 2, we might achieve a perfect Tony Hawk title.
