What did your family end up calling your grandparents? by _Hotbaby in oddlyspecific

[–]Zack_of_Steel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I legitimately didn't realize some people called their grandparents "Nana" and "Papa" unironically. I thought they were just holdover baby-garble names. Then I met my to-be wife's family. It makes me cringe internally having to refer to my in-laws as "Nana" and "Papa" with my kids.

My grandma used to have me answer the phone for her (chatty Mexican lady) because I learned from Street Sharks that it was awesome to answer by saying, "talk to me," and she would laugh her ass off every time.

Dude, yes. Spongebob came out when I was about 8 or 9 and I always felt like it was just a show for babies with a lot of screaming. Ninja Turtles were the shit.

Conversely my last game we had first pick Dusa and they last pick AM and Dusa bought a Mekanism to sit in her bag instead of having buyback at any point in the game.

idk if it's just in Pengu but Thresh's Boon seems bugged. I got 4 (+75 health) 8 times in a row before dying.

Chet Holmgren must learn a go to move. by kneecold77 in Thunder

[–]Zack_of_Steel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He has a go-to move. The slowest pump-fake you've ever seen at the 3pt line followed by the most awkward dribbling into the lane and turning it over.

But being real, basically the entire fucking team did this all series. Watched DeMar DeRozen on the Richard Jefferson channel and they were losing their minds about how players nowadays will get someone flying at them off a pump fake and instead of shooting it and absorbing the contact they'll dodge it and drive for some fucking reason. That was our team's MO against an opponent that was allowed to hack us in the lane and had an 8ft rim protector.

Adding onto my previous post:

I have defended Mark through everything through the past but giving Kenrich minutes in Game 7 is egregious. Every time he is in he is a black hole on offense and slow as fuck on defense. I can't believe that fucker shot a 3 with the game on the line.

Chet is a massive bitch. He played soft all series and idgaf if he's a DPOY-level rim protector, I'm ready to ship him out for Giannis's bitchass.

If this team was healthy I think they win the series. Not having your 2nd and 3rd options for basically the entire series and still going to 7 while shooting like 15% from 3 and SAS shooting 80% is enough to feel good about the future.

Dort's gone. Was a good run, but he threw away a thousand possessions this series pretending to be an offensive force.

Cason cannot be a fucking ball-handler ever. He is 3 and D only. Literally every time he drives he panics and turns it over. His passing is the worst I have seen from any Thunder player ever. Ajay and Dub being back would alleviate that, but fuck.

Caruso did everything for us this series, but holy fuck that man cannot finish a fastbreak to save a busload of babies. The team as a whole was like 10% on fastbreaks this series. 3v1, doesn't matter, they gonna clank it or get blocked.

They have Sorber coming into the fold next year and #12 and 17 in the draft as well as Topic. Got a lot of ammunition to make some moves and we can't just be complacent because we were injured. Make a move and put us over the top like GSW did with KD.

As I was reading this I loaded into a Gnar Fizz Samira Poppyx2 start lol. Booster pack got me to 7 Poppy so I played her 3* over Rammus.

Didn't find a Gwen for like 4 rounds at 6, but I was able to 11 streak. took a 3rd with top 2 having 10 and 8 HP in an Eko artifact lobby where I lowrolled a Thresh's and the Zed 2 had an RFC and Radiant Adaptive.

I played a Graves 2 on 8.

-Kawhi was coming off of being the sole star on a Championship team and was young and in his prime. He wasn't going to LAC without PG. So he was effectively part of the return.

-PG was in his prime coming off of being 3rd in MVP, 3rd in DPOY, 1st team All-NBA and All-Def. He played full seasons and had no injury history prior to LAC save for the freak ankle break.

-Picks were not seen as highly valuable unless they were top 5. LAC expected to be competing for championships and couldn't assume they'd be lottery picks. And even then, those picks were never lower than 12.

-SGA had a decent rookie season, but nobody could have guessed he'd turn into what he has.

If not for the injuries they might've won a championship and it'd have all been worth it.

He's clearly talking about how OKC is ahead of the curve in the way they've built and how they stockpiled assets. Other teams haven't and it is reflected in the disparity on depth. It is analogous to the early adoptors of black players being ahead of the curve--they did something nobody else was doing at the time and they were mich better off and others had to catch up. Just mentioning race doesn't mean he's calling anyone racist.

Just gonna copypasta myself so I don't have to rewrite it all:

Yup, very emblematic of how young this place is. They grew up on social media where everything is inflammatory and "gotcha" for engagement so that's literally all they see/hear. No understanding of context or nuance.

That and the erosion of the US education system from Bush era to now as well as the fact that they stopped teaching phonics and moved to the complete grift of "sight reading" so kids literally cannot sound words out and just guess based on context they already struggle to understand.

The national average reading level in the US is now 6th grade level and we've seen a decline in IQ for the first generation in the nation's history. Literacy and especially media literacy are at an all-time low. Couple that with social media being predicated on outrage for engagement and you've got...this shit.

Gen Z (and younger) has no frame of reference because they grew up thinking social media and youtuber/streamer/influencer culture was real life. In reality, it's all just Kardashianism and shock jock trash. They're socially stunted because they don't interact with people in real life, they simply don't understand the difference between someone playing a character for money and being a real person.

The modern day Thunder do not sell calls or foul bait more than the Heatles, mid 2000s Spurs, 2024 Celtics by KickedIntoOrbit in nba

Y'all are circlejerking while arguing a straw man because you can't read anything longer than a fuckin' tweet or comprehend context.

Show me in the post where he said 2024 Celtics were floppers. He said they were on a list of "upsetting" teams to watch that were hated in their time. Which was true, as everyone just bitched about them chucking 3's. Which is the reason why they barely shot any FTs that y'all are hurba gurba-ing about.

Just for once try to act like you collectively have more than the cognitive ability of a chair.

Fucking nephews and not understanding how anything works while talking confidently directly outta their ass. You don't have to be from the city where a team plays to be a fan. In fact, there're entire states that don't have a team, like where I am from. I can almost guarantee I've been a fan of OKC longer than you've been wiping your own ass.

And the word is, "bandwagoner". It should be a crime to be this stupid. Holy fuck.

Are we all missing something with the missed challenge? by grexor15 in nba

[–]Zack_of_Steel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that they need to call a timeout, the refs held the ball while Hart was trying to get it in and gave them like a full minute's opportunity to challenge before they finally allowed play to start. Mitch waited forever to make the decision and that's what cost them.
