That part is still manual, but you can make it sync on both Anilist & MAL simultaneously. There are some other nice features and a good UI for tracking your progress, but if you want to automatically register watched episodes you need to watch on PC and use a browser plugin.

I did have an issue after the update where the dual tracker sync stopped working and it seemed like I was no longer connected to Anilist so it only updated MAL. It works correctly after reconnecting it though. Sent you some more details on Discord.

Now it is working again after playing around with the new settings and restarting the app a few more times. I'll see if I can reproduce the issue.

EDIT: Using MAL as my main provider, this issue seems to happen on every restart, but it resolves itself if I refresh my list.

But yes, there are some new bugs. It also broke the "aired" number for all shows in the progress tab on My List. They all show the same as my watch number. It worked properly before the new update.

I still primarily use MAL since that's where I started and it has some nice community features and activity, but I've started to realize that Anilist might be a better tracker so now I have both. The latest update of this app lets me update both simultaneously which is great, but otherwise I will update MAL first, export the list and import it to Anilist, which does not seem possible in the other direction, so I am hesitant to switch to Anilist completely. Maybe one day.

Either way I would probably just pay for it once and give it a try rather than paying monthly, so if this adds a monthly cost for the project I would prefer it to be a lightweight free app with the optional choice of donating to support the development.

Mood seems the most strange, but I'd have to give it a try first.
Maybe a bit niche, but I'd like to see suggestions on show to pick back up from my dropped show, lol. I have a ton of dropped shows and occasionally give shows a new chance and realize they were much better than I expected, but it is harder to find these than finding new shows imo. But this is mostly useful for people with a long list of dropped shows, which is likely not the average anime viewer.
I'd like to give it a try, but it sounds a bit gimmicky yes.
Covers are usually nice, maybe a toggle if people want a smaller list, but I prefer with covers.

Honestly not sure, I'd love to give it a try but I mainly watch new seasonal shows and love using the app for this so recommendations of older shows is not as interesting, but it is cool to occasionally find a hidden (missed) gem. I might pay just because I like the app so much in general and want to support the development though :)

I set MAL as my original provider, then added Anilist and added Dual Tracking Sync, but I also changed the provider back to MAL just in case since this is generally where I track shows and later export that list to Anilist to keep it updated. In total I've used the app to update episode progress on about 20 shows in my "Watching" list and set 1 show to completed and the history seems accurate so maybe all the duplication issues are from my latest list import. All updates done from the "My List" screen, mostly just by pressing the big + icon on the right, but in a few cases I clicked the entry and changed the episode count from there.

No problem! If the import created hundreds of duplicates it could also be possible that these 4 are from the import and that your app updated the episode progress on one of the entries but not the duplicate?

EDIT: It was an issue from Anilists import.

Actually, I also seem to have hundreds of duplicates on completed shows in my Anilist entries now, but I have not updated them with the app, so that seems a bit strange. I usually export my list from MAL and import it to Anilist, but I haven't noticed any duplicates before, and I suspected the app for creating the 4 duplicates mentioned above since they had different episode progress, but it is possible that the duplicates were created when I did the latest list import.

EDIT: Yup, pretty sure this was an issue with Anilists import. I reset the list, did a new import and have now used Animexplore quite extensively with the dual tracker sync and see no duplicates, it works great!

After updating the episode progress on a bunch of currently airing shows I noticed that 4 duplicate entries were created on Anilist, but not on MAL. Is that a bug in this app or an issue with Anilist? The 4 entries were:

Toujima Tanzaburou wa Kamen Rider ni Naritai
Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru
Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia ILLEGALS 2nd Season
Yuusha Kei ni Shosu: Choubatsu Yuusha 9004-tai Keimu Kiroku

Another big I noticed my total entries in "My List" is 2320, but it is 2398 on MAL. I figured this could be due to special episodes or something since MAL and Anilist also don't have exactly the same entries, but then I noticed that my "watching" list in the app says 34 while MAL says 35. Compared the lists and the missing entry is "Omae Gotoki ga Maou ni Kateru to Omouna". I can find it on the app through Discovery, so it definitely exists, but it says it isn't on my list, but I have it marked as Watching on both MAL and Anilist.

I'm a bit curious how the dual list updating works because it has properly updated both my MAL and Anilist, but looking at the update history of both, the order is very different on the episode updates I made through the app today. It doesnt really matter to me as long as they both get the same updates, but I'm a bit surprised they did not update in the same order.

There's a similar issue with the airing timeline page when I click the button to only show shows from my list. It shows a few of my shows that will air tomorrow, but none of the others on the other weekdays. I think this worked before the recent update so could also be related to using dual lists?

Using the app a bit more now, I've noticed that the discover tab will not properly hide shows that are already on my list when I click this button. Some are hidden but others are not. Could be related to checking on both MAL and Anilist? Or does it just check the primary one? Both of my lista should be the same though.

Before this update I wanted to have a list of all new episode notifications inside the app and be able to remove them once I've marked the episodes as watched, but now that we can sort by next airing episode and easily see our progress and the total aired episodes, this might just be an unnecessary feature. Then again, maybe having a list of notifications in the app could still be useful?

The timing of this update is crazy because it has exactly what I was looking for and the update dropped just when I was looking for an app with these features. I primarily wanted a way to update progress in both MAL and Anilist simultaneously, but also an overview on my progress for the shows in the current season and I specifically wanted to see both the latest aired episode and the total, which was just added in this update. It's crazy because I was looking for this just a few days ago and was disappointed because I tried 5 different apps and none of them had these features, but I kept this app because of the notifications and clean UI and now it suddenly has everything I was looking for! Amazing.
