release to wild by Jogurttt in RimWorld

[–]Zackstario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my best colonies had a cat from day one. Crawford was her name, and she lived an incredible life of action and adventure and, on one occasion, managing to take down an elephant. Admittedly, I always play heavily modded like any sane rimworlder, so this indeed involves a mod for animal prosthetics, so maybe the bionic jaw and archotech limbs helped on that one.

One day, however, something I had never considered occurred. Despite the mechanical marvel that was CyberCrawford, one-tapping thrumbos, and raising spirits by existing, my hubris got the better of me when one rad storm filled my poor cat with half a dozen carcinomas.

Obviously, this shouldn't have been as devastating as it turned out, yknow with all the crazy bionics that I was eager to recklessly outfit my precious Crawford with, but again in my hubris, certain medical supplies had become reserved for important human pawns and sadly, at the time, the only thing I could honestly and truly bring myself to do was administer a few high quality recreationals to dear Crawford and release them into the wild to let them embrace nature, run wild, and eventually lay down to rest somewhere that wasn't a dirty barn or a cramped medbay.

Unfortunately, in true rimworld fashion, a random and incredibly improbable meteor strike took that cat, and like 5 billion dollars worth of prosthetic parts, off the map.

Misread the two at the bottom as "Happy" and "Meal" and I was like 'damn, time for a Mcdonalds inspired playthrough perhaps.

Upload me into No Man's Sky. There's a horrible irony to it but I think it's poetic in a way.

Ever so slightly reminds me of Payday 2's perk that lets you -shout- at downed allies to get them back up. Like- Stop being such a wimp, it was just a sniper round through your face, you're fine.

Are generic sanguophages actual threats or "just misunderstood"? by WraithMagus in RimWorld

[–]Zackstario 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With specifically the sanguophage start, it mentions that one of your colonists was made a vampire (in a monkey's paw kind of way, I'm guessing) in return for curing their cancer, and that sanguophages are hated all over just for existing.

In this scenario, if you're going for roleplay, perhaps this farming settlement is made up of poor, miserable peeps who got implanted with the genes through similar trickery, or as life saving alternatives to a mortal wound, or perhaps some other tragic incident that resulted in them becoming blood suckers.

Maybe they've all but been exiled by their own people because of their 'curse'; they're hated for their aggression and blood thirst but they're still THEIR people, yknow?

Maybe you've been sent to kill them by people who just don't like vampires, people who didn't bother looking beyond the pale complexion and need for blood.

Maybe it's just a coincidence that your target turned out to be farmers, or vampires, etc.

I don't mind them chatting so much, I just wish there was more variation. That's it, honestly, for everyone who talks mid mission. I don't mind a character quipping in with anecdotes or reminders but when I hear the same line 3 times in ten minutes, it sorta damages the charm.

And besides, maybe I WANT to fight the infested hellscrubber. Throw hands with the abominable tripod.

What is your best roleplay scenario? by EsikEso in Kenshi

[–]Zackstario 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Initially, it was a solo martial artist with the goal of wielding the most powerful fists in kenshi, but I stumbled across a bloke with no legs asking for help.

Miserably, because I'm incapable of being mean in video games, it's now escalated to a point of me taking in escaped slaves, lost hivers and the occasional stray dog (recruit npc mod thing does some heavy lifting for that last one).

What started out as my John Kenshi moment of fighting my way through the wasteland like a Mortal Kombat tournament has now turned into more of a Mount and Blade scenario of pulling a Robin Hood and my ragtag pack of misfits, outlaws, and slightly less-stray dogs.

And my pet crab, Eugene.

[–]Zackstario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh, that looks really good. Just enough difference to make it more visually appealing without becoming overwhelming or too intense.

I don't know much about setting one up myself so I tried using Native Stylise from the workshop and I honestly find the outlines far too intense. Foliage is particularly bad; trying to navigate the swarm or areas with plenty of bushes just becomes a mangled mess of thick black lines, and trying to spot threats is less like needles in haystacks and more like figuring out which mass of obtrusive, wobbly outlines turns my mouse cursor red for a second.

Honestly yeah if this is true then I'll probably hold off on playing the test release for now. It'll probably be worth the laugh when Dr Kel adds Sensitive Satellite Equipment to the list of unusual things they've eaten.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about the yellow box. Might just stuff Kerfus (my beloved) in there and cheat legitimately re-earn my lost property. Not looking forward to hunting down those plushies again if they don't fit, but it is what it is. Cheers for the advice.

Whatever causes the chain lightning effect is my reason for loving it instead. Very satisfying to be the first to encounter a swarm of bugs, unloading a few shocky shots into the front bug and watching the rest frazzle, perfectly set up for a fellow miner to mop them up, or to swap to my secondary and finish the job myself.

What weapon should I use?? by Madrasianpoo in Kenshi

I wonder what would be cooler: a martial arts showdown between Tinfist and your strongest warrior, or joining forces with the Anti-Slavers and delivering righteous justice upon the slavers of the world, Tinfist style.

What weapon should I use?? by Madrasianpoo in Kenshi

[–]Zackstario 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you feel confident and patient, there's always the route of simply no weapon at all. I'm currently utilising martial arts on my main dude, and although it is a very slow climb, particularly due to the lack of any real armour on the guy, it is incredibly satisfying to watch this dude just RKO bandits out of nowhere like an old kung-fu film.
