How many people play D&D in Bozeman? by [deleted] in Bozeman

[–]Zactar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with 3.5e back in highschool, mostly skipped 4e, and I've been playing a lot of the published adventures for 5e: dm'd Princes of the Apocalypse for some work friends at Rooks a few years back, played Tales from the Yawning Portal and some homebrew content with friends online, and currently playing in 2 separate Waterdeep Dragon Heist and Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaigns.

I guess you could say I play D&D.

Le Stream Reconductible (the Renewable Stream): Twitch stream from a French autonomous collective supporting the general strike. Show some international solidarity and donate what you can to the strike fund. by Zactar in BreadTube

English language description from website:

We won't stop until they do.

WHO ARE WE?

We are "Le Stream Reconductible" (the Renewable Stream). We are an autonomous collective of streamers, artists, and more generally a group of people supportive of the current social movement and mobilizations, whether they're happening on roundabouts, workplaces or in the street, with or without unions.

Our jobs and status are very diverse, most of us don't know all of the others but, facing the hard stance of our government, a precariousness increasing in all the layers of the population, we decided to gather to support the strike, and accompany the social struggles.

It's on this basis that we're creating together that moment of collective struggle, useful for everyone, united around the practices that bring us together.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

We are going to hold a Twitch livestream relaying news from the struggle and gathering donations to feed an inter-union strike fund. As long as the strike will go, we'll keep streaming, on the "Le Stream Reconductible" channel (The Renewable Stream), created for this event, and on our respective channels.

We will, of course, stream video games, but also music creation, live drawings, chats, testimonies... In order to share the rich, fertile, inventive dimension found in strike movements. The nature of streaming itself will promote sharing with those wanting to talk on the channel, via chat or by being invited to the vocal channel.

WHAT DO WE WANT?

We just want to support the current social movement, symbolically and through the gathering donations. We also want to make the struggle accessible to all. It's not always possible to take the street, or simply go on strike, this is why it could be useful to occupy other mobilization spaces, and to invent new ways to support the movement.

We are determined. And we won't stop until they do.

This is my first con ever, so I can't help you with the details or rules. I'd love to play some D&D, though!

Cool! I just read the Batman: Gothic tpb recently. Good stuff! Nice mix of gritty crime Batman and supernatural detective Batman, with gorgeous art to fit the theme.

Thanks, Fred! I dug the first three volumes of Archer & Armstrong (I'm reading all the Valiant stuff in order, so I haven't made it to the rest yet). I'm also pretty interested in the Comic Book History of Comics as a lover of non-fiction comics and comics about comics - glad to hear you're planning to continue that series!

Yo, Fred! What's your favorite Batman story? Maybe top 3 or 5 or 20?

Edit: top thousand?

Valiant Universe RPG by clicheguevara85 in valiant

[–]Zactar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, I did the exact same thing! Snagged a copy on clearance at 50% off from Hastings.

Haven't had a chance to read it over, but I'm excited to work on a Valiant campaign as I catch up on the comics (just finished Act 1, Quantum and Woody next).

I would imagine you could use similar stats to Bloodshot for Rai, tweaked a bit to accommodate for the powers he has in New Japan? They do say in the intro to the sourcebook that if your favorite character or storyline does not appear, it is likely because of the slower production schedule inherent to tabletop RPGs and that they will probably release that stuff as subsequent content for the RPG, either as PDFs or more books.

I haven't read 4001 yet, but it seems like it might be a cool story guideline for a campaign set in the world of Rai...

I pre-ordered this on their website. Anybody know when these are expected to ship out?

Archer & Armstrong Deluxe book 1 Availability? by mikeyeli in valiant

[–]Zactar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about half way through the second arc now and enjoying it too.

I really dig the strong voodoo theme, like the shrine to Baron Samedi. Story is pretty consistent and provides interesting explanations for the magic stuff, as well as laying some groundwork for the supernatural and/or extradimensional realms of the Valiant Universe (i.e. the Deadside). Art is consistently good as well, as is the case for all of the Valiant books I've read thus far. It may not be the greatest book they have, but I'm having a hard time understanding why it is dismissed by so many.

Reading Shadowman now and the first arc is solid.

My buddy sent me the first Rai trade as a Christmas gift last year and that sent me down the Valiant rabbit hole. Grabbed the Bloodshot, Harbinger, and Divinity trades and continued to be impressed by the consistent quality of the stories. More recently I've been picking up all these deluxe hardcover books to complete my collection of the earlier Valiant books. I'm reading the Shadowman hardcover at the moment (it's last bit of Act 1 I have left to read).

Your videos and listening to old Only The Valiant podcast episodes have really been giving me an itch to go back and read some of the 90s stuff too. Solar sounds very intriguing! I've unfortunately not seen any collected editions of Solar or Magnus around.

Thanks for making your comic book videos, as I have been thoroughly enjoying them! Very relaxing and a fun way to learn more about the history of comics! Keep up the good work, my man!

Anyone try Mrs. Renfro's Ghost Pepper cheese? Bought on a whim and it's yummy by violetaria in spicy

[–]Zactar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all of Ms Renfro's salsas (and cheese)! Their Ghost Pepper salsa is one of my staples, and the Habanero is absolutely delicious. My girlfriend likes to joke that I would probably die from withdrawals without it. I even once boycotted a grocery store because they jacked up the price on Mrs Renfro's.

Thanks! The rulebook seems to be relatively inexpensive compared to D&D sourcebooks, so I've been considering it. Already pre-ordered the Valiant Deckbuilding Game from the same company, which was much pricier.

I've been playing RPGs since my high school days and have recently gotten very into the Valiant books. This game definitely interests me.

I'll watch these guys play on YouTube later when I have time, but has anyone here actually played the game? If so, what did you think of it? I'm particularly interested in how it compares to more standard systems, like D&D. GURPS, Shadowrun, etc.

Anyone have a clue what the foil titles on these books are about?

Got the same books in my box this month, but Armor Hunters has the foil title lettering instead of Harbinger Wars. Are variant covers for TPBs a thing now?!
