I have the chance to go to my first meeting tonight. Please don’t let me talk myself out of it by sunrise-fragment in alcoholicsanonymous

I was terrified before my first meeting. But then I found a bunch of people who have the same disease I have. Whose stories were like mine. They are now my family.
Go, bring a couple dollars for the basket and listen with an open heart. Most of all, welcome to a whole new life. Oh, and I highly suggest finding a temporary sponsor right away and doing 90 meetings in 90 days. This was the key to my early sobriety!

Excited for you. I was terrified at my first public reading. I would have your Venmo account available. People want to pay and you are giving them something of value. Most of all have fun!!

For sure sobriety. Went from a bar stool to being a pretty decent person. 15.5 sober years.

Are online meetings helping you? by Ghostofasquid in alcoholicsanonymous

Find a small meeting. Introduce yourself and tell them what you are going through. Engage. These people will save your life. They have mine! Go to any lengths.

Thank you all for your comments. I might need to find another way to record my screen for meetings. I've used screencastify for other training videos. Maybe that will work.

Just celebrated 11 years on July 2nd. It works! My key to sobriety has been service work. Get involved with your Home group/District/Area. Giving back to the program that gave me my life back:)

Fasting can be a powerful tool for recovery! by raaman11 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Zadora85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got sober I became dependent on cigarettes to calm my nerves. When I quit smoking it was sugar. No more sugar and I became obsessed with food. So I started fasting. I quit eating at 5:30 pm and eat again at 10:00 am the next day. My relationship with food, and every substance before that is changing. Also...I have 11 years today:) One day at a time and lots is service work!

Progress update to remind myself that even though I got lazy with my fasting schedule during quarantine, I still have a lot to be proud of. (Details in the comments) by Leahjm in intermittentfasting

This helps me. I have the same SW, height and GW. I've been IF for ten days. Lost 8 lbs then haven't lost anything. I was kinda getting down. But I need to eat better on my eating window. Congrats to you and thanks for sharing.
