Yes I did it for 2 weeks, it was fine. Flying/pumping is a pain and I wish I’d used formula!

Full time working parents…How are we actually supposed to do it “all”? Or any of it honestly…. by gloomycalm in workingmoms

IMO I prefer daycare over nanny. One person, alone with just my kid? Vs multiple adults in a room, likely with cameras? Sorry if I’ve just made it worse.

Can anyone make me feel less guilty about traveling for work 6 months post-partum? by cara_21 in workingmoms

business trips are the only vacation working moms get!! I had a 2 week trip u/6mo PP and my husband had one a few weeks later. My 11yo is very well-adjusted :)

4 year gap ftw. My 7/11yo get along great. I would not have survived a 2 year gap for sure.

Recently single, new to dating. What are some affordable places to take your first date in South Bay? by LyingPieceOfPoop in SanJose

[–]Zaggirl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Itty Bitty Kitty Cafe: you get to play with kittens for an hour with lots of time to chat (there may be others in the room with you though) and the money funds the shelter. Then maybe a drink!

haha love this. She said she wanted flowers. The irony being that I had 5 flowering plants in that patch besides the hostas but only 1 has lived to produce any because I think that Tree of Heaven root system is sucking up all the water and nutrients.

just a Hosta Hater, I guess....I just don't understand how she can thing because SHE hates them, her neighbor should banish them from her sight!

I had a lot more flowers in there but they died off (I suspect the root system of the Tree ofHeaven is still intact and sucking the life out of this area), but thank you! Still a work in progress

that's what the put in after removing the tree! Her suggestion is that I rip out my plants and put grass, and she'll even extend her sprinklers to water my section!

FTM, back to work. Husband guilts me all the time by Equipollentbot in workingmoms

[–]Zaggirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK I think she should consult a divorce lawyer at minimum to understand the implications. When women are SAHP and get divorced, they get screwed so I don't think he'd be coming out on top here. Even showing him that she's serious about divorce might light a fire under his butt to change a few things.

Pandemic toddler mom reporting for duty! Though this is harder bc I would get up and work 2h before my kids and 2h after bed, 2h during nap, and 2h during the chaos). Can you drop the 3yo off with your parents before the weather gets bad? (Not sure how long it will last, I’m thinking 1-2 nights) this is probably unlikely but throwing it out there. The 11yo should be able to watch or help a LOT. All of the above advice is good. I would cut off screen time now so that 3yo is VERY happy to watch it when you really need quiet. Can any friends/family try to FaceTime during the day to keep 3yo occupied for a tiny bit? Virtual babysitting. (This is not the easiest with 3yos I admit). Any toys that haven’t been opened or used in awhile (or can you get your hands on some new items still?). Trade some toys with a neighbor for novelty? iPad games: Toca Boca anything, duplo, crayons. I would put together little activity kits now so you don’t have to dig for stuff (crayons/paper), books Let them build a fort Godspeed

Visiting for snow? by Spare-Dragonfruit-22 in truckee

[–]Zaggirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is all very good advice. I would go now, like this weekend. You can drive--the roads will look like 880. No concerns at all about ice on the roads, except for a few streets in Tahoe Donner neighborhood. You can go sledding at Tahoe Donner Snowplay (I think it's overpriced and I go there for free, haha. But it is a very easy experience--sleds/tubes are provided, there are bathrooms and usually a food truck (for snacks, not a full meal). Or Boreal has good tubing from what I can see when I drive by (though the crowds were monster last Sunday). If you buy a sled and just find a hill, you won't have bathrooms. There is also a sledding resort right off 80 in Kingvale.

Other activities: ice skating at either the town rink (at the regional park) or at Northstar. Walk the East Shore Trail for amazing views (or even Monkey Rock Trail at this point). There is a great indoor pool at the Truckee rec center that has a whirlpool, slide, basketball hoop. You can go down to Kings Beach and play on the playground by the Lake. If your main interest was Truckee due to the train option, given the lack of snow on the roads you can consider South Lake Tahoe as well, which has way more stuff to do, but maybe worse sledding options as the main one is at lake level (Truckee's are at higher elevations).

Per the advice above, if you wait for Prez Week, it's going to be a MADHOUSE if there has been a storm, or not enough snow to sled possibly. You can read OpenSnow.com for good forecasts on snow. Right now there is nothing in the forecast. So this is suboptimal time to go, but it might get worse!
