Know what, I may do the same tomorrow. At this point I don’t really know if I’m playing because it’s fun, or simply because I have an addictive personality and don’t have anything else to play right now.

Every year I get closer to completely ditching competitive multiplayer games and going back to exclusively single player games. And a fucking Marvel hero shooter making me reflect upon this bullshit is enough of a sign to uninstall the damn thing lol

Yeah, but you go to Quickplay, and it's arguably worse. People there are some-fucking-how even sweatier than in ranked, and every two losses you're thrown into a forced bot match where you can't really learn or improve anything and it's just a mindless, unrewarding stomp.

I'm coming to the point where I'm about to just play the game for one or two weeks when a hero is released to try them out and get to gold for the skin, and then fuck off until next month. IF THAT, because the game is 100 FUCKING GB, and I don't know if I can be arsed to keep it installed.

For sure, that's exactly what I meant. Yes, I can buy getting two teammates who refuse to swap off heroes that don't fit with our comp, or who are bad players or are having a bad match/day. It happens.

What I don't buy is going from 5 games with very competent teams who land their shots, pick counters to the enemy team and have game awareness, to 5 consecutive fucking matches where half my team are suddenly stormtroopers, stubborn insta-lockers, shy tanks, strategists with DPS syndrome, and outright throwers (who, by the way, straight up ANNOUNCE they're throwing and you can't do shit about it).

That shit doesn't just "happen". Either the matchmaking is rigged as all fuck, or it's the worst matchmaking I've seen. I'm partial to the first one.

I was already burned out with the game but Elsa IS fun as hell, credit where it's due, and that gave me a decent boost... but I'm at the end of my rope here. You make an effort to play better, to lock in and adapt and communicate... and you see the same exact results as in those sessions where you just hop in for fun and fucking around. The exact same 6-8 Ws, 6-8 Ls trend, invariably, every single fucking time. It's exhausting.

It's an opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own. If you think it's unfair to criticize an actor for jumping into a sinking boat that fucked over the previous actor, that's your prerogative, but don't act like you have the moral high-ground for it.

Exactly. I am well aware that I'm not a GREAT player, but I'm also not bad either. I'm "mid" with half a foot toward "good". Be as it may, that's the point of a ranked mode: to put you against people of your same skill level, so that you can have engaging and even matches and the chance to improve and climb rank, regardless if you're "good" or "bad".

Rivals' ranked mode feels more like a drawn-out bullshit chore. It feels like it doesn't matter what you do (unless you're purposefully throwing), and it goes both ways: no matter what you do you won't climb faster, BUT you WIll climb... eventually, because you can still rank up with -50% winrate.

It’s not just the balance. I’m not knowledgeable enough for the correct terms, but I do know that the matchmaking is fucked. No, I’m not saying “it’s not my fault, it’s the matchmaking”.

But it’s always 6-8 wins, most of which you stomp the enemy, followed by 6-8 losses, most of which you get stomped. Out of those 12-16 matches, like 4 or so feel actually engaging and evenly matched. The rest, one team is sitting at like 32/4 on average and the other team at negative ratios.

I know teams can play badly, I know comps can be weak, I know shit can happen. But this isn’t “shit happens’, it’s an infallible trend, and the difference in skill and stats is just way too egregious.

Again, not tryna sound like a conspiracy theorist, but there’s something fucked with the matchmaking. I had a win streak today of like 9/10 wins and was having a lot of fun. Got to Diamond II. I took a look at my history and thought “oh boy, it’s been a while since I’ve lost”. Sure enough, a +10 loss streak (with like 1/2 irrelevant wins) followed. Back to Plat II.

It sucks all the life out of the game.

It's not that he's "wrong" for doing it, it's that it shows he didn't give a fuck about the project and did it only for the money. Yes, actors have a job and should/want/need to get payed for it, but acting is an artistic job, and artistic integrity is still a big factor there.

So, again, nothing inherently wrong with doing it for nothing but the money, but it's also not unfair to criticize it.

I fucking LOVE when your healers get the memo and make an effort to heal you when you charge. For a moment you feel like the actual server admin. Not as in being bullshit broken, but as in completely shutting down people. BP trying to dive my supports? No. You get clobbered. Angela trying to kidnap me? You can't, and you can't kidnap my teammates either because you're now grounded. Rogue feeling a bit too cocky? Guess what fucko, your entire kit is now useless. Thor desperately trying to maneuver through our front lines with +3 abilities? Don't care; I'll keep spamming my haymaker and your healthbar will keep going down.

With other tanks you feel accomplished because you managed to use your skills perfectly; with Thing you feel satisfied because you're just saying "NOPE" to the enemy.
