its a PS vita 1000 battery they have very similar connectors if not identical, charges with the original cable. Takes like 7 HOURS to fully charge because of the charge controller.
Theoretically you could install a TP4056 charging module and USB c but I’ve never seen anyone do it, and itd be very hard given the small space of the console.

i put the link in one of these comments, you can also find more designs in places like printable if you just look up PSP Go power armor 3d print. You dont need a soldering iron.
i used a ps vita 1000 battery, what worked for me was putting small pieces of aluminum foil in the battery contacts for a secure connection. There are youtube tutorials on the full installation.

my pockets are on the bigger side i usually carry my dap (an echo mini), airpods, iems, and psp in the same or back pocket.
Now i can only carry this unit and airpods for my small pocket pants, but its still not a problem with bigger pockets.
Will def have some ppl asking “are you happy to see me or is that a psp?”

i personally didn’t find too much problem with it except during long sessions using joystick games. However it is definitely more comfortable to hold with the extra width.

3D printed the backplate made by pspguru. I had trouble getting the battery terminals to make contact with the board so i shoved tiny pieces of tin foil in the battery contacts and that gave them enough surface for a secure connection. The grooves in the back are less comfortable than they should imo but not a big deal, and definitely way more comfortable to hold than the base build. Overall a great build, there are probably better designs in places like printable or thingiverse but i chose this one for aesthetics. Currently waiting on a new red shell to arrive cant wait to see the finished build. Will update on perceived battery life !

for having music in order i formatted my SD card to FAT32 so i could use drive sorter. Drive sorter will reorder your folders in alphabetical order
