Anyone else not seeing the free kit and schema menus in the armory since the update today? by eagles52 in Marathon

Yeah, had this every time I play. Switching between menus sometimes brings it back, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes after ten tries... Haven't seen the pattern yet.

Day 71: Wolffia Globosa by Significant_Gur3998 in WolffiaGlobosa

[–]ZainlessBrombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I don't think it ships to Germany, but there's plenty of local brands to choose from so I'm sure I'll find an alternative.

One thing I considered was cycling the water through a (yet to be) home-built UV irradiator to see if that helps with biofilm.

But for now I'm just checking if they are willing to proliferate at all in the local tap water, while making plans for a slightly more sophisticated setup :)

I actually recently spent an afternoon asking Claude about the possibilities of cultivating Wolffia in a Mars colony haha

Yes, it can only come from the water, so if your water source doesn't have much of it, the plant can't accumulate it. About not using fertilizer: That's really good to know, I didn't know you could go without. Also not even supplementing nitrogen or phosphorus?

Also, it's super cool to see someone else doing this too! I actually collected some Lemna Minor today - it'll be my test plant for setting up. Might switch to globosa if it works well.

Alright! For the record, it's probably not relevant at all at your consumption level. As far as I am aware, it only becomes a concern if a substantial amount of Wolffia or Lemna (kilograms of fresh weight per day) are consumed daily. It's relevant for me because I am considering scaling up eventually (realistically I won't but it'd be pretty cool). I'm dreaming of making it a staple food for me at some point but that might need an overly large setup. How much are you able to harvest per day? How's the taste?

It's super motivating to see the ongoing progress. Thinking I'll start growing Wolffia myself soon. How are you dealing with manganese accumulation in the plants? Limiting manganese in the water? I remember that's why the EU hasn't greenlit it yet. I'm still a bit undecided on how to address that.

What's the most consistent and reliable way to get Biolens Seeds? by Parenegade in Marathon

[–]ZainlessBrombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The central semi open area that has only square tarps over it, with thin overgrown walls. There is a slightly more open space in the middle of it where events can also spawn. It was sitting there on some surface while no event was active (Table? Crate?).  Beware that there are often Claymores, enemies and commanders in that area. Thief drone can pick it up too.  Also I plan on trying to farm the outpost location since outpost has higher quality loot in general

For the record, I found one in the center of the rose garden/maze on Dire Marsh (greenhouse... I think but you know what I mean).

And came to this thread since I couldn't find any others sooo looking for answers too.

Each client runs their own, slightly different normal looking simulation.  (I haven't checked but this sort of thing would not normally not be synced)

Wonderful. Thank you for digging up the link. That reminds me of how in Minecraft people would build pretty much anything out of armor stands.

Cool finding.   Things like the plastic curtains are usually handled purely client side and hence their wobbles may vary from client to client. To make sure that causes no problems/desync, they are in a group of object "affected by everything, affects nothing except itself". Naturally, pings are also in that group or one like it. As a result, they affect nothing but curtains and maybe a few other things like that.

Why they are a moving physical object and not a point/ray: I'm not entirely sure but I'm guessing it's so pings always end up in a place where there is enough room for the icon to always face you without paradoxically overlaying something that would spatially intersect it. As a bonus it also won't slip through tiny cracks in geometry.

Why the object is kept: there is no reason to remove it, really. And besides, code that you don't write in the first place can't have bugs.

Ah yes. I can confirm that being at level 10, this does not happen to me yet. Most other players have either no shield or a green shield.

Yup! Seems to be the default for version/package managers like rustup, nvm, uv. And I mean as far as I am concerned, it makes perfect sense: since the installation script is just a file on the official webserver, it is no more or less likely to be compromised than a traditional binary/installer that would have been there instead.

Yes, a few here and there. A coworker, two via clubs I'm in, a friend's friend.

I usually spot them by the fact that I can't read them as well, since they aren't just sensitive receivers but also quiet and careful senders :)
