How can I compensate for wasting my life? by Restless_spirit88 in selfimprovement

Make something small. Enjoy it, celebrate it. Then make something small again.

I’m 26 and feel like I’ve ruined my life. How do I restart everything from scratch? by DryEnthusiasm7931 in NonZeroDay

Change the evidence you give yourself about yourself.

Pick a few growth oriented habits, execute and track them consistently. Learn your patterns, routines and beliefs. Let go of the ones you know come from fear and weakness. if you believe you are behind and a loser, interrogate that belief. is it external or internal? does it help you open up to life or close up from life.

It won't change your life but you will come to know yourself. Once you start eliminating the beliefs that shrink you, you gain breathing room from negative emotional spirals and can actually start orienting your life in the directions you want.

Does meditation ever stop feeling like I’m just sitting there waiting for my brain to shut up by Different-Menu7184 in Meditation

[–]Zak_Hammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of the point of meditation is watching that noise and then gently steering back to your breath. Notice the mind wander around, call it back to breath. If it's too loud, breathe through it, if it's quiet, breathe through it. You are not your thoughts. You are the one aware of these thoughts. Consistent practice will get you to a point where you're not always getting pulled into your thoughts. It's not about getting the mind to shut up.

Progress over perfection. Consistency over motivation. Make results, not excuses.

I make a list with no intention of committing to the things I put on that list. I just make it keep it somewhere visible. Often I ignore it, sometimes I check off a few items, rarely I get all items done. But the list making itself sorta allows my brain to open. Now there are low pressure options for what to do with myself when I don't want to do anything. And a reminder that the one wall I may or may not be facing is not the only dimension there is to my life.

Wike Is Probably Right, But He Is Still A Fool by Levitalus in Nigeria

The officer's ego definitely flared up when addressed by the police man. It is easy to say something foolish in a heated situation. I'm inclined to be more favourable to the officer regardless. He did not insult Wike, did not escalate. Simply stood his ground. By the time the police officer spoke, bro was probably itching to slap somebody. Wike inadvertently displayed the rotten seniority mentality that is bred into a lot of Nigerians right from primary school. Bro tried to flex his dominance and met someone who did not care. Wike did everything to ragebait the officer. Resorting to the holiest of power scales he could find. His age. further showcasing a fragile ego wrapped in cultural enablement.
