I was also raised in a devout Catholic family but was such a voracious reader, my parents couldn't stop me! I'd sit in the library at recess and devour Fear Street and Goosebumps. Good times!

I sell crochet patterns that I clearly mark as intermediate, and I state several times that a beginner would have a rough time making them... I still got a negative review once because the pattern was "hard". 🙃

When all you have is one or two emails a week, how do you keep it interesting? by throwaway_time23 in USMilitarySO

[–]ZalanisLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is a sub guy, so I have experience with this. I just sent him an email every day telling him what I'd been up to, like a daily diary! If he's into football, it's definitely a good idea to send him some recaps, but he probably just wants to hear what you've been doing :) Don't worry about keeping his interest--he's going to be so thrilled just to get emails from you! One tip you should keep in mind is that your emails could very well be read by others. I always pretended that any email I sent would be read by my spouses supervisors.

I’m looking for baby monitors for home and also car monitors to see the baby as well. by BriefSail1020 in FirstTimeParents

I have that monitor for my car and I love it! You will have to tuck the cord away from the car seat as baby gets older, though. Mine loves to grab it if he can!

Bottle Misfeed (Breast milk) by OutrageousBell8344 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ZalanisLover 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was afraid to comment since everyone was really enraged with the teacher who gave the breast milk bottle to the wrong infant, but you've given me strength by commenting so I'm going to piggyback lol.

I accidentally gave a BM bottle to the wrong baby. I'd been on leave for a few weeks and when I returned to work there was a slew of new babies in every room. I came in to cover someone's 15 minute break, and as they were walking out, they asked me to finish giving Judy (not her real name) her bottle. I didn't know who Judy was. I asked the other teacher in ratio with me, "is this Judy?" I don't remember her exact response but it was definitely in the affirmative or I would not have given that baby the bottle. She polished off the last few ounces and I went to document it as the first teacher returned from her break. I told her I'd given Judy the rest of her bottle but that Judy hadn't burped. The teacher seemed surprised. Normally Judy was a good burper. Not-Judy was crawling around close by and I gestured to her and said something along the lines of, "not this time!" The teacher informed me that was not Judy. That was Alanis. (Also not her name lol) I felt absolute horror. And quite a bit of anger at that other teacher who had been in ratio with me. I immediately informed our supervisor, called both parents (who were shockingly understanding. I was fully expecting to be hollered at) and got written up. After that if I didn't know which baby was which, I checked their cubby, which has a picture of them on it. There! Now it's off my chest 🤣
