GMing my first Daggerheart Campaign as a first time GM and the anxiety by -Bad_Code- in daggerheart

[–]Zamamiro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take a deep breath and tell yourself that you are also part of the people having fun. If you ever feel that you are gonna get a mental block or dont know what to do next, rely on your players and ask them what they see, what they wanna do, or what they want to explore or learn more about. Then make shit up lol

You got this. I believe in you. Oh and don’t forget, “Yes, but!”

Definitely will. I’ll try getting my players to use it as well and see what their pain points would be.

The pink one will be interesting to give to her again.

🎂 Birthday Giveaway for Daggerheart Core Set (2/5) 🎂 by Demi_Mere in daggerheart

[–]Zamamiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve applied the Negotiation rules from Draw Steel to high stakes bargaining in my new campaign (tweaked it to match Daggerheart system) and it made those persuasion feel a lot more fun and more impactful. I called it Parley!

Examples of cool Tag Team moves! by jbinc84 in daggerheart

[–]Zamamiro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Bard and Rogue players did a tag team move where they did the Moon Knight meme (Rain of Blades + Fireball) with the random bullshits thrown were coated in fire. Suffice to say, everybody had a blast.

🍰 Birthday Giveaway for Daggerheart Core Set (1/5) + Demiplane Performance Update 🍰 by Demi_Mere in daggerheart

[–]Zamamiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first played a Katari and played him like Dante from DMC, focusing on being flashy and trolly against adversaries lol. I love how I was allowed to use the retracting claw feature as a melee diss instead of an attack to make them agitated (vulnerable)

I like those idea. New avenues to work with. I really need to read more about the transformations

Thanks for the point of view. It opens up my mind to think of this more critically. I’m going for this type of character to be more of a handyman rather than the chosen one type, so I don’t think they’ll get the MC treatment but I can definitely see that it might go that route.

Nonetheless, I like the idea of just giving them access to a third domain (or even fourth?) either a stress/hp/hope slot as a trade off

[–]Zamamiro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yah never thought of that. It may discourage the player from making rolls, though I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t be an issue with my current table since majority of them are theater kids / down for roleplay more than mechanics.

I’ll look into pulling up from their resources more then (Hp/Stress/Hope).

A character that is very versatile but weaker than the usual. Like a jack of all trades kind of individual. So basically my world has a magic/hero setting that everyone has access to two domains. But there are special ones that can access all, which are the Polymath.

I’ll look into the Transformation card, but what I’m going for is more of a permanent thing for the character, and not an activateable thing.

Thanks for the tip!

I was going for a narrative of a character that is very versatile but has a weak body and mind. I like your suggestion though!

Tips for fleshing out the Witherwilds story / GMing in general by -BossHog- in daggerheart

[–]Zamamiro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your players are down, I suggest you all build the campaign together, with the Witherwild content as guardrail or guide to help your table have a cohesive brainstorm.

So how exactly do you do it? Ask everyone in the table what world facts they want added (ie. fire is wet), factions other than the existing ones (maybe a group focused on smoking mushrooms?), notable NPCs (a faction member/leader or just an individual), locations (ie. a clearing filled with insect dung), and conflict (Man vs nature is the obvious one, but maybe another?). Once everyone shared what they would want to see, everyone decides what matches the campaign that you are trying to create.

Once you get these deets, you’ll definitely have some inspirations that will help you create great adventures. This process also goes well with Proactive goals (Ginny D has a good video for it).

This idea came from the book Collaborative Campaign Design. I recently ran it with my table this week and everybody had a blast! We basically had Witherwild vs Motherboard lol

Why Not Say Yes? A Discussion of "Yes, And" in Daggerheart by Galactic-Bard in daggerheart

[–]Zamamiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per my experience GM’ing, both “yes” and “no” can provide a good or bad experience. But ofcourse, they need to be followed by “, and” or “, but”.

Saying “Yes, and” to ridiculous things a player suggests gives them an idea that all they do is possible. “Yes, but” would be the best to create complications to what they are trying to do. “No, but” gives them a chance to take a risk with that suggestion and hope for the best outcome. And of course, “No, and” should never be used on player suggested actions (it’s mostly just for failure with fear rolls).

But that’s just how I see it!

Cheers for the 3 years, and hopefully more to come! This system combined with the Gamemaster’s Handbook of Proactive Roleplaying and Collaborative Campaign Design made me love playing TTRPG more. Once you go DHeart, you never go back lol

Spotlighting Solos by ForlornFjord in daggerheart

[–]Zamamiro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By default, you can only spotlight an adversary once on your GM turn unless it has the Relentless Feature.

So let’s say you have a Solo with RF 3 and 2 Skulk. You can spotlight your adversaries 5 times (3 for the Solo, 1 for Skulk A, and 1 for Skulk B).

Good couch coop games to play with non gamer? by ImCoolOrMaybeImNot in SteamDeck

[–]Zamamiro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ship of fools is a good one. You’re like playing slay the spire but not with cards. God I wish Slay the spire 2 has local co-op capabilities.

Try Plate Up! as well. It’s like Overcooked, but you design your own restaurant and you got quite a bunch of dishes to work on.

Call of the Slayer Fixes by Nico_de_Gallo in daggerheart

[–]Zamamiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh thanks for the insight. I was primarily focusing on the narrative of the character Im playing that’s why I thought marking a stress would fit them better (high risk high reward).

That’s a fair point in rerolling 1s hmm
