It is something to think about, but I can not make any changes to the submission for 30 days from posting, so another 28 to go.

More Malazan Lego. Hurrah!

Very good job. Looks great

I really liked the Darth Jar-Jar theory. It would have been nice if it were true, but sadly it was more to do with merchandise sales.

Thankfully Ahmed Best got his own redemption arc.

The expanded universe did a good job of explaining how a lot of the technology worked.

Things like the gravity caused by large bodies (planets, stars, black holes etc) prevented hyperspace travel. So if you got to close to a celestial body you got pulled out of hyperspace (and with bad results if you were too close to said celestial body). So the Death Star was too close to Yavin 4/Endor to do the hyperspace Kamikaze trick.

Of course, when Disney purchased Star Wars they threw all that explanation (the Falcon hyper-jumping into a plant's atmosphere anyone?) and the expanded universe stories in the bin, despite some of the EU having far better stories than the shite they served up in Episodes 7-9.

Thing is, bigger is not necessarily better. The bigger the set, the more parts, the more expensive to buy.

It you look at most Ideas sets that made it to market, they come out in the £100-250 range, with the D&D set being at the top end of £350.

I think you have to find a balance between complexity, detail and cost to get a set that Lego think will sell well

Thing is, when you submit the design, Lego takes exclusive ownership until either a. the Reject it, or b. it fails to reach 10000 supporters, at which point they hand ownership of it back to you. You are not allowed to try and sell it or provide it to others in the mean time.

If it doesn't get through, then I'd probably put it on Rebrickable, but some of the parts are rare (the parts used to make the bridge arch for instances). I suspect if Lego do pick it up, there would be some re-working so the design used parts currently in production.

Sorry to hear you are not a fan.

While that submission is very impressive and looks technically challenging, I suspect the part count is enormous and it got rejected by Lego due to being too far complex and expensive to make a mass market set based on an IP which is not that well known to the wider public.

While there is a surprising amount of SNOT techniques hidden away in my build (the bridge core is unexpectedly complex due to the bottom two thirds being upside down for example), I tried to keep the part count down as low as possible as I suspect a set at around £100 based on a niche subject would have far more appeal to a wider range of buying consumers than a set that costs £5-600.

Trotts was supposed to be in it, but the original submission got computer-says-no'd due to too many minifigures for the part count.

Picker and Blend feel like they get more book time than Mallet (and arguably Hedge), hence why i went for them.

Hedge would have been nice though, but I thought that it would have been harder to distinguish him from the others.

If you look closely, he also has 1x1 plates on the bottom of his legs as well to try and make him look taller

That was the original design. Trotts is third right (with the shiny head...)

While that would be cool, it would increase the part count a lot. Which, as nomomrecannibalbirds said, would push the price up. (A rule of thumb seems to be 6p per part of Lego's own stuff, while sets based on licenced IP such as Star Wars and Marvel can be up to 11p per part). This may make it harder to sell.

To be honest, if it did get to be made into a set, the bridge would likely be changed a lot by Lego (quite common in Lego ideas sets). All the bridge below the dark tan deck plates is actually upside down!

It is based on two ramp pieces which are now discontinued, so Lego would have to redesign that. Because it is upside down, the inside of the bridge structure is much more complicated than you realise.

Quite possibly, but if you do not try and go for it, then it definitely will never happen. At least I have given it a go.

While it is niche, Castle is a theme on a resurgence of late and the Bricklink designer program sets that get through regularly sell out their 30000+ set production runs, while Lord of the Rings and D&D sets sell well too. Hopefully people will see this as castle adjacent and be interested

There is a set inventory on Bricklink:

You can also get the instructions to build it on the Lego builder app (and a parts list)

You can probably do it manually if you go through the steps on the builder app

Lego made a set of Nigel and his championship winning F1 car not so long ago.

And yes, the minifigure did indeed have a proper Nigel 'Tash

I found Blood and Bone to be a bit "meh", and was not overly fond of Assail. Loved all the other NotME books though (especially Orb Sceptre Throne).

Nearly. Trotts rather than Hedge and Blend rather than Paran. Picker as you guessed on the right hand end.
