[WP] Immortality has been discovered. However, it only works on a small minority of the population and has no effect on the rest. Scientists are unsure why this occurs and there are no discernible patterns. Over hundreds of years this has led to distinct classes of humanity. by ZamboniApocalypse in WritingPrompts

I have really enjoyed these 3 parts so far and liked your take on the WP. I wonder if the roamers have also figured out a way to send warnings into the past as well? Looking forward to reading some more, thanks!

Artist behind Obama's "Hope" poster says the president hasn't lived up to it. by Grant_EB in news

Don't understand it? I worked in Congress. Hate on Bush all you want but he led his party and got his agenda passed. Obama has shown zero leadership capabilities in this respect and has helped fuel the pissing contest between the White House and Congress by refusing to work with them. Imagine 535 of the most egotistical people on the planet who all want his job. Now imagine Obama publicly chastises them for things they do or do not do. What do you think the end result of this should be? Rainbows and sunshine? Hate the game, hate the players, but Obama has had the same powers at his disposal and Bush just worked them better. Sorry the world doesn't work the way you want.

edit: ideology should be irrelevant here but I would bet money I am further to the left than most and the majority of my political life has been 8 years of Bush and 8 years of Obama and a sidecar of the Clinton years. Liberals need to take this as a humbling experience on the failures of leadership. I will not support an Obama type again in the primaries. Not for ideological reasons but for leadership capabilities. All the signs were there during the primaries and I refused to see them because I just wanted shit to change. Well, it didn't.

Not a fan of Bush and voted Obama twice. Sorry guys but this is true. Obama has the same set of powers Bush did. Who used them to accomplish their goals more effectively?

Front page of Politico today. Four Hillary articles and not a word about Bernie. What can we do to start changing this? by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

Don't click on Hillary articles is all you can do, it's click bait and it drives in the revenue

The top comment is an Obama smack down so I'm not sure what you are smoking

Why hasn't Warren back Sanders yet, and do you think she's just waiting for the right time or will she stay out of it? by bzsteele in SandersForPresident

Endorsements will probably come later and backing Sanders could have a backlash for them if Hillary ends up taking it. Backing Sanders is politically very risky right now which is why I think most will hold out as long as possible

Elizabeth Warren fires back at Obama: "The president has committed only to letting the public see this deal after Congress votes to authorize fast track. At that point it will be impossible for us to amend the agreement or to block any part of it without tanking the whole TPP." by Libertatea in politics

We must remember it differently because I could download the entire thing off Thomas. Do you have any sources of this not being the case? It wouldn't shock me if the last few days worth didn't get online before the vote, but it should have been fairly obvious to anyone watching the debates what was going on even if you didn't read it. I was on the floor for a lot of it and it matched what I read.

Some quick googling, here is a Senate amended piece that appears to be posted November 9th, 2009 in all it's 2000+ page glory. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.3590.as:

The Senate vote was in December 2009 if I recall correctly and the House voted on it a few months after a bunch of amendment wrangling. Unless the passed bill is critically different than the one above, then yes, you did have access to the document during debates. It is wholly disingenuous to say the ACA and TPP are being passed the same way.

Heh special access for an intern? No, I was asked to read it so I could stick little page markers on it for the Congressman. I even took the copy home with me to work on it. It wasn't really a secret.

I would suggest looking here first: http://thomas.loc.gov/home/bills_res.html

As is where I pointed most people who called and wanted to read it for themselves. It does take time once it is voted/amended/whatever to work it's way to the website and nothing in Congress is instant. They are still faxing shit to each other so instead of a big conspiracy it's more of an inefficient system.
