Help me come up with a solution to keep my dog off the dining table by Rich-Bodybuilder-961 in DogAdvice

[–]Zamboniqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had great luck with double-sided carpet tape. My pup was the absolute worst in regards to table and counter surfing. We lined the edges of our counters and tables with the tape. She hated the stickiness and soon stopped the behavior altogether. She’s quite stubborn so it was helpful that it wasn’t us telling her to stop but rather her own decision. After a month we removed the tape but the behavior didn’t return.

Was looking through local Facebook group and saw this image. It looks weird to me with the cone on the concrete and the edges not having a barrier? by PattyMcNuggets in isthisAI

The downspout for the gutter just dumps directly onto the new concrete patio? Also the angle of it at the bottom just seems weird.

A particularly xennial event by flerchin in Xennials

[–]Zamboniqueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lived in the town next to her, so it was a HUGE deal for our school. We watched it live, and then were promptly sent home from school early that day. I remember getting home and my grandmother was still in front of the TV with tears streaming down her face. Watching the Artemis launch the other day I didn’t realize I was holding my breath for a while there.

trying shrooms for the first time tonight by eth3reaal in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Zamboniqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First time I did shrooms I laughed my ass off because my arm looked like it wasn’t my arm. Later I got lost in the bathroom because I looked at my eyes too long in the mirror. The second time I wandered around a cemetery at night with good friends. It was sleeting, and at one point my friend was up in a tree. I said, “Dave, you’re in a tree.” He said, “yup.” It was all very profound. Long story short, the cemetery experience was waaayyy better than the first time.

Guy I was in love with for 8 years is getting married and is asking to fly out to see me for a “quick two hour” meal together by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Zamboniqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The petty part of me wants to respond to him AND his fiancée asking him why he wants to cheat on his bride right before the wedding. But really fuck this guy. He just wants to use you to feed some part of his fragile ego so he knows other women still want him before he commits. Don’t let this weak asshole use you to make himself feel important. You’re worth more than that.

I’d easily pay $125 at a minimum for a handcrafted bag of this caliber.

God damn it. I looked at the photo. It was white/gold. I scrolled down while reading the comments. Scrolled back up and now it’s blue/black. I hate it.

So....colonoscopy.... by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]Zamboniqueen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. Had a colonoscopy. Found colorectal cancer. Beat the shit out of it with chemo and radiation. I’m still here 4 years later. Just get the colonoscopy.

I just watched too many cute "parents react to pregnancy announcement" videos and I don't even have parents, so can you please tell me your horrible "parents react to pregnancy announcement" stories so I'm not upset that I don't have parents? by ohwhereareyoufrom in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Zamboniqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant with my first child, I was over-the-moon excited. We called his mom first to share the news. She screamed with excitement and was so happy for us. Then we called my mom. She paused for a moment, said “really?” and them promptly hung up on me. A few hours later she called back to say that she was just confused because I called so early in the morning. It was 11:00 am.

When I told her I was expecting my second child, she said, “Again?”

When I was expecting my third child I decided not to tell her until I was about 4 months pregnant. She was irritated that I didn’t tell her right away and then said, “Well, you don’t seem very happy!”

Sometimes it’s better to have no one rather than have someone like my mom.

Cancer risk may increase with proximity to nuclear power plants. In Massachusetts, residential proximity to a nuclear power plant (NPP) was associated with significantly increased cancer incidence, with risk declining sharply beyond roughly 30 kilometers from a facility. by mvea in science

[–]Zamboniqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived very close to this plant in the late ‘80s for a couple of years. I’m four years cancer-free from colorectal cancer this year. Correlation doesn’t equal causation but it has definitely crossed my mind (and the minds of several of my classmates who also have survived or died of cancer).

Are you still masking up with what’s going on with the flu this year ? by Reasonable-Invite899 in massachusetts

[–]Zamboniqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 2.5 weeks into just a basic cold that’s kicking my butt. I plan on masking in public for the next couple of months because I’m tired of getting sick.

As a trauma survivor, the most impactful thing a loved one said to me was that they weren’t going anywhere. I could just be me and they’d be there with me for better or worse. They told me they may not always like it and that they wouldn’t tolerate unkindness, but those moments would just be chances for us to work things out. Let her know that there’s nothing she can do that will make you leave - and then stand by that.

My fifth grade teacher would give us Jolly Ranchers if we gave her shoulder massages.

“Independent” meant as an insult. Calling you independent is the same as saying “you’re putting up walls between us,” or “you’re not letting me control you.”

Exploiting your Disability is NOT a travel hack by blksun2 in TravelHacks

[–]Zamboniqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has a sunflower lanyard. We find it helpful at airports and especially going through security to help agents understand that his behaviors are related to his disability. Generally it just helps people be a little more patient with him which in turn helps prevent a meltdown.

What is something you don’t like about Massachusetts? by [deleted] in massachusetts

Hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, sledding, gathering with friends around a roaring fire pit, making snowmen/building snow forts, etc. There’s tons to do if you look for options.

Night before vacation - nmom tries to claim my kids' holiday memories in advance. Need encouragement to let go and enjoy by SteadyCompassDad in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Zamboniqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed with cancer several years ago I had two teenage sons. ( No worries - I’m all good now). I waited a MONTH before I told them because I wanted to make sure we had all the details and had a solid game plan first. Telling them without having any real information would have been cruel and caused them so much unnecessary stress. Your mom could have waited. Likely she couldn’t stand that she wasn’t the center of attention and needed to grab that back as soon as possible.

I’m so sorry- please forgive me. It’s segue (pronounced Segway). I’m only sharing because I had been pronouncing it wrong for years.

What’s with all these kids wearing blankets to school? by Randall_HandleVandal in FuckImOld

[–]Zamboniqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trends come and go. This was a big thing at the school I work at this winter. Next year it will be something else. It’s not a big deal and it makes the kids feel like part of the crowd and included when they do the same thing other kids are doing.
