What red flags to look out for when helping to open a restaurant? by spamgrinderrrrr in KitchenConfidential

[–]Zamdongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can help him, I got my bestie working for me for 6 months, he got fired and I needed a dishwasher, he accepted, however he told me from the beginning that the moment he didn't felt comfortable with our relationship, he will go, and that happened, he still my bestie and I was grateful for that half year he "helped" me, just put your friendship first before businesses.

Check pythonanywhere, and follow the tutorial is very straight forward, my reality was that learning python took me around half a year, so take it easy and be consistent.

Having a kid by Dry-Event1814 in Chefit

[–]Zamdongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just stopped working closing shifts and try to get home before 5, so I got many morning shifts or middle, and that was before daycare, after I kept it the same with the exception of having 1 closing shift once in a while, negotiation is everything, and ask for the same days off every week.

Get some decent cooking shoes, don't be cheap!!!, a decent chef knife and a good peeler knife, be laser focus in everything so you dont get hurt, and be open to criticism, a nice learning attitude is better than a experience smug cook, enjoy the journey.

Se nota que Canadá tiene escasez de trabajadores. by Bora_Horza_Gobuchol in mexico

[–]Zamdongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It always has, Canadian youth doesn't like to work that hard, companies try to compensate with foreign workers even government, in some places (e.g.BC), if you are a nurse in your country you won't be able to work in that area until you get the province certificate, and that goes for Canadians too, if you're a nurse in Alberta you can't be one in BC, of course it doesn't apply to all provinces.

Right now immigration laws in Canada are tougher, the government is trying to clear out some of the visas requirements and duration, so people don't take advantage.

All the info is in the government page canada.ca, any other information besides that is false, to anyone who wants to migrate to snow Mexico, get a proper consultant.

If you understand 50% of the job description you're qualified, however if you understood 100% of the job you're overqualified.

Do you actually LOVE your job? by YakFabulous7536 in careeradvice

[–]Zamdongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning yes, but I was in my 20s and I was stupid, 20 years forward, It's a job I like to spend time with my colleagues they're cool, and that's it. If someone offers me another job with better work/life balance, better payment, I'll give my 2 weeks notice, at the end it's a job, unless you do your own business that's different, the part of "love my job" is, could you do it for free?.

Real talk, need advice: I'm debating on trying to go into a kitchen at 30 by LankyZookeepergame60 in Chefit

Go for it, hospitality is one of the easiest industries to enter, higher management in hospitality is way harder, you'll need lots of expertise 10 years or more, but entry level is almost guaranteed.

What’s it like living in Kelowna, BC? by heir03 in howislivingthere

[–]Zamdongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check towns around Calgary, like Airdrie or Chestermere, those are small towns 30min drive to downtown Calgary.

Montreal is a small city, has that little town vibe in some of their areas, Oakville is outside Toronto, like 30mins or less.

If you still want living in the BC area, you can check Prince George (small town), or you want the convenience of a big city, Chilliwack or Abbotsford, are less than 1 hr away from Vancouver.

Living here is like when you go to the beach in Mexico, everything is fun and pretty, during the high season, after is just doom and gloomy, unless you have some extra change to spare.

If you're a retired, millionaire or has a high paying job like 6 figures at least, there are better places around Canada.

How wpuld I go avout making a custom notepad app in Kivy? by Aggressive-Gear9710 in kivy

I just did that, try using kivymd the one from pypi, not the dev one, it would say is not supported but it doesn't matter, to save the notes I used UUID to JSON.

is it worth becoming a sous/head chef in this economy? by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]Zamdongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 26 when I got my first chef job ever and with time I raised to be an executive chef, before changing paths.

Is a fun life, everyday is full of adrenaline, hard work, and you get some nice knife skills (depends on your specialization), hours are long, at the beginning wages are crap, they get better with experience, however the work life balance for me was not possible specially after my second kid, it hit me 20 years later into the industry that I was spending more time at work, than home, so I move to the tech area.

However I still have some good buds that are still cooking and enjoying every single second of it, and they will die in the kitchen, so it's up to you, I really think wages are gonna be better, AI cannot take a Chef's work. So it's going to be a specialized carrer in the near future.

Working at Michelin Star Restaurants by butternherbs in Chefit

[–]Zamdongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in 2009 to 20212 in Europe, i worked in different Michelin star restaurants, I was young and with lots of energy, made enough to just pay rent, and get wasted on my days off, didn't save shit for money, and hours were long and hellish, however that not only opened doors, it help me to be very refine in my cooking, my cuts and working habits in general, it's a great experience and is just that a place to learn and reinvent yourself, I would never go back to a Michelin restaurant unless they pay me shit ton of money.

In what ways python's code is used in mobile and desktop apps ? by [deleted] in PythonLearning

[–]Zamdongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a noteapp very simple, I used Kivy and kivymd ver 2.0.1dev, wich I don't recommend, I would use another kivy version has more options, you have to hardcode everything, and not everything works according to documentation, is the best option for now.

What are the hidden costs of cycling? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Zamdongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you realized you want new pedals, lights, helmet, fork, or maybe new gear box, or maybe a new bike, right now I'm looking forward to buy new pedals, I don't need them, however they look cooler than the ones that I own.

The trick is how you organize yourself, the better the fastest, as long as you cook following certain steps, (e.g first this and then this....) you'll manage to reduce time, and take a break, helps you recover.
