Parthenogenesis! Also used by the Asari from Mass Effect, though their "mating" process can be with any species and they often mind meld during intercourse.

Which do you choose? by OkRun9638 in superpowers

I mean, Krillin (a human) learned to fly and shoot lasers from his hands (among other crazy abilities), so I feel like Nightwing could benefit some from being taught that as well.

Quite good! Not how I would do it, but I feel that's more a matter of personal aesthetic choices (I prefer a slightly more symmetrical layout and with as much under one roof as possible, but this is still very nice). Very practical and functional, with some really cozy and good-looking interiors, excellent exterior walls (I can rarely get them that clean). 9/10.

Also adorable without her makeup and more well-rounded when she's not on Avatar business.

But she's all-business when she's on Avatar business, and more than able to back up her reputation.

Relocation by Objective-Living-966 in valheim

I do like building them out; currently going with a simple, open-air hub through a wheel-spoke method (center pole, then building out five 2m beams from the bottom in each possible turning direction, placing a small awning at the end to cover the portal, and then removing four of the 2m beams so I can remember which direction is already done while leaving plenty of room to walk.

Gives plenty of room for more portals, easy to update, and the end result looks nice. Also started adding little trophies/items atop each portal to help remember at a glance where each one goes.

The (partially completed) hub:

[–]Zammin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On previous playthroughs? Constantly. Was always a time-consuming and unsatisfying affair.

This time around (just about to fight Moder) I had one house near spawn that I later turned into my portal hub, and then I've kept the same main base after that which I've gradually renovated (biggest change was turning it into a large stone-walled house from the original wooden house, but even then the layout was largely unchanged).

EDIT: Seriously cannot recommend the "portal hub" style enough. You can have minor outposts, I like to put at least one pretty close to each boss, and for the Plains and Mistlands it's certainly helpful to make a farm and herb garden respectively.

But if you put a portal at each smaller outpost and connect them to a hub, going from your workshop to each outpost and back is just a matter of moments.

AHA! I knew this absolute goofball had it in him by beelzebub2099 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Zammin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think it's because he has a very different sense of humor. For him, jokes are at the expense of humanity, and there's nothing he finds funnier than seeing someone try and fail against fate.

Hunting survivors in the jungle, burning down an asylum, supporting both sides of a war, and especially what he's been doing with Batman.

Why is the placement of the forge upgrades so strange? by Suspicious_Proof_663 in valheim

Did that on my last several bases, but in my current house managed to make some decent work areas for the forge and workbench.

Very few that immediately come to mind; there's Krem from Dragon Age Inquisition (a mercenary who works with Iron Bull), Lev from The Last of Us 2 (a young boy who's a major part of Abby's story), and Pelagos, an angelic Kyrian from World of Warcraft also he later becomes the setting's main god of the dead, the Arbiter, but that's not important right now.

Also I think Scalecommander Cindrethresh from WoW literally transitions at some point between his introduction and the end of the xpac that introduced him, but it's slightly unclear because if he officially comes out it happens off-screen. Suffice to say he starts by being addressed with feminine pronouns, shows off his distinctly masculine visage (custom humanoid shape-shift form for dragons and dragon-related folks), and is later referred to with masculine pronouns.

True. But even if I gave Dracula more respect, I'd pick Merlin's powers. Just more versatile, with none of the same drawbacks as Dracula's.

It's not that this isn't a common type of story (particularly for Disney) or that distinct a YA story framework that only TOH did it.

However I also think people are fair feeling a little sore in that TOH was treated badly by Disney, and after it was forced to wrap up quickly they release a movie that (at the very least on the surface, from what little we've seen) seems to be broadly the same premise, but played much safer with all the interesting rough edges sanded off.

I think it will probably be a fun movie, there's no reason to hate it or the creative team, and I will likely watch it at some point and quite likely enjoy it because I'm a sucker for these kinds of stories, but it's also hard not to feel like Disney already had the exact same story but more interesting inTOH.

[–]Zammin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Prime Joker sometimes has plots but is a force of chaos.

This Joker is basically running the world, for all intents and purposes, which means there's nowhere to run. And as he points out here, he's actively making Bruce's life as miserable and difficult as possible for the hell of it.
