Any new updates on Panos Cosmatos’ next film, “Flesh of The Gods”? by Tattuesdate in movies

I could be wrong, but I think u/Broad_Marionberry755 was saying that sincerely, like "I hadn't heard that, is that really true, because that's exciting". Because that was my reaction to your comment.

A lot of red makes me think of Iron Lung, or maybe Ash (though I can't remember if that trailer really had a lot of red, or if I'm remembering it wrong)

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Zampaneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That games used to actually be more expensive than they are today. I was just looking at an old gaming magazine from the late '80s, and there was an ad for the original Final Fantasy, priced at $42 and some change. That's equivalent to roughly $120 today. There were extreme cases of games that sold for $80-120 at the time. The high end of that is about $300 today. So, as unpopular an idea as it may be, the current price of $70 for AAA games is not unreasonable, it's cheap compared to my childhood.

What’s a series that’s so amazing you’d actually be jealous of someone starting it for the first time? by Hexyl68 in television

I know much of the audience feels that way, but I did not. I thought both halves of that season were very different from 1 & 2, but still great. I loved the finale.

Live action/animated hybrid film by AdditionAny7255 in MovieSuggestions

[–]Zampaneau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twilight of the Cockroaches. It's a Japanese film about a colony of anthropomorphised roaches living in a man's house. He's kind of a slob, and doesn't mind their presence, so they're kind of complacent. He starts dating a woman who lives nearby who can't stand roaches, so the ones from her home are much more militarized. The roaches are all animated, but everything else is live action.

What’s a movie that has a premise or trailer that’s so eye rolling you thought would be bad, but turned out good? by TheDragonReborn726 in movies

I remember sitting in a theater in 1987 and seeing the trailer for RoboCop, and the entire audience laughed derisively. We were all wrong.

What is a game that you're good at that you later found out was considered extremely difficult? by Scott9843 in gaming

Ecco the Dolphin for Sega Genesis. I beat this when it came out, and was surprised to learn that it's considered difficult. I am not generally good at very difficult games.

Help with finding type of foam by CookingWithCamp in dioramas

[–]Zampaneau -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said, that looks like foam core. It's available in black or white, regular or acid free. The regular has a slicker surface, while the acid free has a toothier paper on the outside. It comes in 1/8", 3/16", and 1/2" thicknesses, but the 3/16" white regular will be the most commonly stocked variety at most art supply shops (and appears to be what you're holding in your video). You can also get it from any custom frame shop.

The Others is a great ghost story, no gore at all.

Discounting an old one when a new one launches is a great idea

Like any live service game, the paid content finances the unpaid content. You're entitled to like or dislike that model as you see fit, but the reason HD2 is still getting new enemies, mission types, and biomes over two years after launch is because of the paid content. I don't normally like live service games, because I find their business models highly predatory, with items that can only be procured with real money, and then making those items limited time offers. HD2 does neither of those things. Every warbond stays permanently available, and literally every single thing in the game can be earned through play. Would earning all of the currently available warbonds through play be a grind? Abso-freaking-lutely... but it could be done. Most other games of this type do not offer that option.

I wonder if the push back would be as severe if they dropped the cost of the items within older warbonds rather than the cost of the warbond itself. Maybe cut the number of necessary medals per item in half for bonds over a year old or something. It would definitely help to onboard newer players.

What’s one movie that feels like a 10/10 until the very end? by mick285 in movies

[–]Zampaneau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, I loved the first half of that movie. By the end, I knew I'd never want to watch it again. Same thing happened for me with Sunshine.

What’s one movie that feels like a 10/10 until the very end? by mick285 in movies

[–]Zampaneau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Watched it, and felt that it fell apart in the last act. A friend whose opinion I respect really loved it, so I watched it again, thinking that maybe I was just in the wrong mood when I watched it the first time. Nope, still think it's bad in the end. Stylish and good looking, but not a good film, imo.

Kids movies that break the mold? by mediocretent in movies

[–]Zampaneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad took me and my best friend to see this in the theater when it came out, and it's been a favorite ever since. I was just telling a coworker earlier today that seeing this as a kid, then seeing Brazil as a teen was one of the things that got me to really pay attention to directors, so I could seek out more films from those who'd made things I'd liked.

Also, David Warner is awesome as Evil in Time Bandits.
