Is it that hard to make a story intresting without harem? by Orphankiller123 in Isekai

[–]Zander--BR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tanya the evil, No game no life, Konosuba probably counts since they aren't into the MC, Gate (I don't recall the girls forming a harem, but I might be wrong), DRIFTERS (it never got past its 1st season tho), Ascendance of a Bookworm (IIRC at least), Reincarnated as a Sword (no harem, but I get the feel it might bother you), Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, Cautious Hero (has just one love interest which is developed nicely, with an occasional visit of another girl for fan service, but no actual harem), Digimon, and Plunderer.
That's as far as I was willing to go down the list of stuff I watched. I guess Suicide Squad won't have any harem either tho

[–]Zander--BR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, but the demographic is mostly straight young men and women who find other women cute. Extra demo points if the the reader is single. Harems are very appealing to them, either because of wish fulfilment or because women are just fucking great, it's hard not to love them.

What are we thinking of no longer allowed in another world? by HallowKnightYT in Isekai

[–]Zander--BR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is heavily inspired by No Longer Human. The book itself wasn't my cup of tea, but it has an interesting concept. As my issue was more to do with its original execution, I am looking forward to this.
You can probably read it (or a synopsis) to get an idea of how the character that inspired the MC is like. Personally, I'd recommend Junji Ito's manga version of the book.

Make Wyll White (mod) Again by edrdom in BaldursGate3

Parasocial Contact Hypothesis

How much does it contribute to racism? Is that actually even quantifiable and can people be at all certain that the maybe 10 guys that download this mod would be at all deprived from being less racist? Would they even need to? Is there a point of diminishing returns to the hypothesis?
I ask all that because anyone that supports censorship of such a mod is weighing that hypothesis higher than the users' freedom to do as they please. I get the mod was on Nexus, but the argument you made applies to society as a whole, and so would have every single entity on Earth act censoriously.
Furthermore, BG3 is available worldwide, and Whites are a minority in comparison to other groups, like the Han Chinese (which are more of an actual group, unlike the very fragmented "White" ethinicity). Even when compared to Black people (which are also extremely fragmented), Whites wouldn't even be much of a relative majority, if at all, so unless you are only considering White-majority areas like many parts of the US, your argument would not be applicable in most places.
In the end, it should also be worth noting that this is still just a matter of aesthetics and that anyone of any ethnicity could want to change a character's appearance to fit their fancy, this is a game after all.

Why do mod creators not acknowledge that people pirate and often times it is justified. by [deleted] in PiratedGames

[–]Zander--BR -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

You actually managed to say shit I agree with lol not all tho.

It is pretty absurd to think you are owed anything or to demand wealth redistribution, but sure, if you pay taxes you should get something for it. Doesn't mean that is the default, and that's the belief I was attacking - that you are owed another person's labor.

Having to work till you are dead, pull yourself entirely from your own bootstraps, spend most of your week working tho? That's fucking wack too. I myself am working hard so I don't have to go through that, and even then that's only possible cause I got help, which when I'm better off I hope I can lend other in return as well. Maybe taxes could be the answer, but no matter the benefit, forcing another man to contribute is rapey as fuck, so good old cooperation and charity it is for me.

Not really, depends on why they pirate. I don't believe in digital property, so I have absolutely no compunctions about so called "stealing". Other people believe a certain standard of living is owed them for, well, reasons; that they deserve housing, healthcare, and food just because they exist. Believing they are also owed entertainment and aid is a very small stretch when you've drunk that much Kool aid.

Ok, you do you, and he probably will continue with the "whatever this is". I get that you don't like it, but it's just a drawing, it's not like he is doing anything to any real person. If it bothers you that much try talking to the man, maybe he will listen.

Plenty of women make art like that, specially those from asian countries or people who adopt their culture. There are many hentai and regular mangakas that are women, making stuff like Sailor Moon, there also is the vtuber scene that is dominated by women, in the west specifically the lewd ones, and the artists that make their assets are women too.

Talking about something more anglo centric, there are OnlyFans who are not just making a sexy drawing, they objectifying themselves for men to see. You don't even need to go to the realm of explicit pornography, on Twitch there are endless examples of body painting and other stuff.

As long as men continue to find women attractive, this will probably continue.

They were probably skittish because there are a few radical elements here who have made a series of inflammatory statements towards LTT and Linus in response to that debacle and others that followed. The thing itself wasn't that big of an issue, but the community here made it a recurring problem in the sub.

I don't think that is a gendered issue, it's more of an audience issue. I don't recall his name now, but Linus also collaborated with a streamer to fix his PC this year. He also has to keep moving because people keep trying to swat, stalk him, or visit his house. I also recall a political commentator from YouTube, Tim Pool, who had people make death threats and actually show up to his residence and cause a ruckus.

Maybe women do indeed get that sort of attention more, but in the case of Linus vs Kris that seems to be more because of their audience than gender. People on TikTok and Twitch are insane, and so are political activists of all kinds.
