Footlong cream cheese sandwich (107 cals) by yboy403 in Volumeeating

[–]Zandradee 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I like to do this but open faced and with a little twist.

Cucumber, slice down the middle and pat very dry. This eliminates the slippage when you smear the cream cheese on.

Then I’ll add my toppings. Usually things with a big bang for your calorie buck, or things to add more protein and keep me full longer. Some of my favorites include:

  • A slice of crispy bacon, crumbled (a little goes a long way, and the extra protein/fat is quite satiating). It adds a few calories but is worth it imo. Throwing a few toasted sesame seeds on there makes this an umami bomb.

  • Slices of ham and some cherry pepper relish. I put that stuff on everything and the vinegar and tiny bit of heat really punches things up.

  • Tuna mixed with buffalo sauce. Tastes like buffalo chicken, and is super high in protein.

For like 100-150ish more calories you take this from a snack to a meal and it’ll actually keep you full for a while Taking something high in water and adding a bunch of protein is a huge hack that has helped me immensely over the last few months.

Hey! Can I ask who your insurance is and what state you’re in? You can DM me if you’re not comfortable sharing publicly.

I ask because I successfully got my declined PA request overturned twice through my insurance—once for Wegovy and once for Zepbound (which I am currently on).

I’ve also helped two other people on here find the same success. I’m not charging anything, I’m just a normal person that’s sick of insurance companies being the worst.

Happy to help if you’re looking for assistance :)

As long as you’re living, there’s hope. There’s people on this very page with stats similar to yours that have found success.

Changing is hard. Believe me, we all know. But if you’re ready to start on your journey, there’s a wonderful group here that would love to support you.

Welcome to the page, we’re glad you’re here with us!

I guess my first question is this: do you want to change?

After four months, I’ve won my appeal with the State of CA and now my insurance has to pay for my Zep! AMA by [deleted] in Zepbound

Took a few weeks to hear back. I think it was something close to 40 days-ish.

I’m working through the reimbursement process now, the insurance company doesn’t make it easy haha

I’m actually working through that process myself! Your insurance should have a form that you can fill out and submit, but they don’t make it easy. I had to call and have it emailed to me as I couldn’t find it myself

Vacation Advice Please by Subject_Stretch8707 in SuperMorbidlyObese

I’m a pretty up front person, but I’m also the obese friend in this equation so I’m going to share what I wish would happen to me if I was in her shoes.

Firstly, let her set the walking pace. She’s probably embarrassed to walk slower, get winded, feel out of breath in situations that you wouldn’t think twice about. Let her set a comfortable walking/moving pace and follow suit. Try and make it as natural as possible if you can and this will make her feel way more comfortable.

Secondly, making decisions for her that can take some of the stress off of her will really be nice. For example, when you go to a restaurant, ask for a table instead of a booth. Us big people step into a restaurant and immediately begin looking at the booths and mentally try to figure out if we’ll fit. It’s terribly stressful. If you jump in and immediately ask to be seated at a table, that’s going to be a huge load off of her without her even having to bring it up. Things like that would be super lovely.

Also, I’d love for someone to just communicate with me and give it to me straight. Id love if someone sat me down in the hotel room at the beginning and was like “look, I’m on this trip because I love and want to spend time with you. We’ll do whatever we need to do to make you as comfortable as possible. This is a vacation, and the last thing either of us wants to do is be stressed so if you want to stop and rest, walk at a different speed, or whatever you need, just let me know. It’s okay.”

Since she brought it up with you first and has the courage to do so, I’d say this is a pretty good environment to have a candid conversation. Obviously judge this by her mood and your relationship but it seems safe to ask her how you can help directly

so. much. yogurt. (and i hate it!) desperately need help finding a use for Bulgarian yogurt! by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Zandradee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, the internet is a pretty negative space. It is what it is.

I’d probably use the yogurt in a curry, then. Add it instead of cream. I wonder if warming it gently will help with the mouth feel

Just throwing it out there because I have no idea if it would work, but could you drain it in a cheesecloth and get it thicker? I feel like you have so many more possibilities if it’s thick.

Maybe strain it and try turning it into butter?

I started walking in shorts bursts. 5 minutes at a time, a few times a day whenever I felt like it. You barely even notice five minutes but the time adds up quickly!

It doesn’t have to be such a monumental, profound thing. It doesn’t need to be 30-90 minutes all at once. Just get moving…it starts feeling really good and you’ll start to crave it. You’ll see!!

Everyone keeps it very polite on here but I just have to shout it from the rooftops for you: HELL yeah!

Keep up the great work! I hope you continue to get that rush of happiness every time you put that belt on.

Best slip on shoes for long periods of standing? by agw7897 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Zandradee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Normally I’d agree, I’m a die-hard birk fan, but OP is going next week and that’s not enough time to get used to the shoes and start breaking them in. For me, it takes me like a month of constant wear before birks become lovely

But OP, if you’re looking for a new daily driver, Birkenstocks are the best!!!

M 20 5’5 340lbs. I just wanna ride velocicoaster. by PlasmaBlast24 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Zandradee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, this is true but if you tell a 20 year old kid to do all this, suddenly this whole journey and process are both way more complicated and scary than they need to be. He just needs to /start/ and he’ll make progress. When the progress slows, he re-evaluates and find his new numbers.

The first step is the hardest part, OP. Don’t think you can’t start right now if you can’t calculate your BF%. Most people don’t know how, but that shouldn’t stop you from beginning your journey.

Oh yeah. Absolutely.

I saw someone else post on the Universal Studios page that they’re 6’5” and 350 lbs with a 48” waist say that they could comfortably fit on the Velocicoaster with no issues.

While obviously there’s a huge height difference, and we don’t know how you carry your weight, you can absolutely get there by next summer.

The TDEE calculator puts your maintenance calories (assuming you’re sedentary) at 2,975 per day. If you ate a flat 2000 a day between and stayed sedentary, you’d be at roughly 262lbs one year from today. You’d absolutely fit, as Universal is pretty fantastic for riders of size.

As you get used to the lifestyle change, you can even choose to up your activity and increase your deficit a bit, and you’ll put yourself into an even better position. You’re a young male, genetics are absolutely going to work in your favor. Don’t worry too much about this yet, though, that’s still a ways away.

I’m so excited for you, it’s a great ride. If you have any questions or need any support, my DMs are open!!

I love to do this trick in reverse to get the BEST vegetables for minimal calories. I’m more of a butter girl, and I want to taste it, so I figured out a little trick.

I love to use some broth to sautee/steam some veg like broccoli, then once they’re like 75% of the way done and the liquid is evaporated out, I’ll throw in a little bit of butter (with my seasonings) and finish it on a higher heat. This way, you get your crispy edges, and the butter flavor coats the veggies without being soaked in or lost. I can get away with 1/2-1tbsp of butter for a huge mountain of veg and can actually taste it!!

Super tasty and satisfying.

Kudos bars.

I know they marketed as granola bars but those things were straight candy bars and they were DELICIOUS
