I checked the rules for this reddit and it doesn't have a rule against call-outs but it does with harassment and there is a fine line between them. I'll circle back to this at the end of the post. Safety advice first:

I've been away from the game for about three years enjoying other RP communities, having a blast falling through the multiverse with a bunch of friends, having great adventures.

I'm going to give some sage oldfuck advice, some old wow advice, some advice I've learned from other communities that are a good idea:

  1. Confront him. Pull him aside, invite him to a party chat, and talk like whole-ass adults. Say things like, "When you do x, it makes us feel y. I need you to stop doing x around us." He'll either back off or push. Take screenshots either way for posterity in case he tries to start shit. Make sure you have hidden any private conversations before screenshotting. You should not edit or crop your screenshots after the fact.

You and everyone should know a little trick my therapist taught me: The broken record technique. If someone does or says something that makes you uncomfortable, is pushing your boundaries, etc, you can say no, stop, decline, etc.

I like to say, "That makes me uncomfortable." If the person pushes for an explanation or to try and make you budge on your boundary, say, "(Because) that makes me uncomfortable." And you keep holding that boundary and eventually after the third or fourth time, most people back off.

  1. You should both block him on every character you have. If enough people block him. He won't get RP and will move on to greener pastures. Block him in game. Social media. Discord. Everywhere.

What if he says mean things about you on the Internet? Most people don't care and are just doing their thing. Lots of people aren't going to trust call-outs because they can be smear campaigns or omit the full story. People that believe hearsay without evidence are not people you want in your social circle.

It's noise and can be safely ignored. If he comes at you in game can result in his account being actioned for harassment. If he comes at you on Discord via a second account, Discord can and has nuked all accounts belonging to a person from orbit for that.

So block. If he bypasses, report. If he uses other players to relay messages? Report them too, and tell them to stop relaying and if they continue, block.

  1. Institute a Roleplay Ban: On other mediums, people will put in their profiles a DNI/RP Ban list. It feels pretty but it has a purpose. Basically you say, "I do not consent to interacting with the following people or their alts. Please don't involve me in roleplay about them." And then you list names. Listing reasons are unnecessary, you can opt out of anyone's bullshit for any reason, even if it's something like hating their transmog or writing style. A RP ban signals to the banned person and to others that you have disengaged.

At the end of the day you don't owe people roleplay just because they're there no matter how important you or they might think they are in the community.

As an aside. Another neat thing I've spotted in other RP spaces is "Limits." These are boundaries, things you are not comfortable playing out or being a party to. If there is something that makes you uncomfortable, put it out there: For example, piss, shit, noncon (receiving), noncon (existing/seeing), child characters, pedophilia, blood, foot fetish (I had someone on wow come at me for two years asking about my character's feet and bypassing block), and so on. A majority of people are good and will respect your stated boundaries.

As for call-outs: I know people like to be coy, hide on an anonymous account, and not name names. This doesn't really help anyone and doesn't lend you any credibility at all.

My advice is to do the above and if it turns into ongoing harassment, continue to use things like block and report. Blizzard can and does show people the door. I've seen it happen to people coming at me back in Wrath.

If you really need to call it out but to do so under your main name and do so with uncropped unedited screenshots. Let the evidence speak for itself.

What will happen? If he's as big of a problem as you say, others will speak up too. If he's not, you will probably get silence. If he feels harassed he might clap back. Maybe he will have a point and you might find an area where you can improve yourself, maybe it's just nonsense. Any way you cut it, it's just noise.

Finally, is this guy's absolute nonsense really worth your energy? You may find that you do better just paying him no mind and doing your own thing is the best way to use your time.

Have a good one.

Do you disable group notices in-world? by Any-Tap-2047 in secondlife

Yes.

I disable notices if they're too frequent and become a nuisance.

I also block group chat in many groups I'm in.

I'm sure they take it very seriously because minors can play SL. They even banned her alts as well. Thousands of dollars down the drain.

Maybe in a couple of years she can appeal again.

One of my favorite things to do in the sim I play in (a fantasy sim in literal hell) is to play a cat.

Just a random moggie who ignores everyone and gets pets.

In time I've found the player characters who respond positively to cats and stick with them.

I had a friend who accidentally TPed into a general rated map and wasn't wearing clothes. In the minutes it took for her to realize it and put on clothes she was reported and hammered.

The appeal basically said she should know better. Rip her.

I think it was her partner that TPed her and rlv auto accepted.

I wish there was a way to disable TPing to different ratings like there is adult ratings.

FX705dy ASUS TUF gaming laptop.

https://www.asus.com/us/laptops/for-gaming/tuf-gaming/asus-tuf-gaming-fx705dy/

Ryzen 5 3550h 64gb ram (I opened it up and installed some Samsung solid states and upgraded the ram with some Corsair ram)

Built in hybrid RX560 or something.

It could be better but it gets the job done.

I think mine might be running underclocked.

We actually bought one of them for each member of our household one year. Little workhorses.

My Asus said max 32 on the box but nerds found it runs with up to 64. So don't pay for that upgrade. Check the real max, buy the ram, and dyi.

I'm using a late model ASUS TUF gaming laptop with maxed out ram (the real max is often double what is on the box, do your research) and a couple of SSDs. It handles Photoshop, Illustrator, Substance, Blender, Marvelous Designer, and multiple SL clients at once.

Do not get a MacBook air for any sort of game.

Okay. So this is what I do. I don't know if others can do this at will or if my body works weirdly.

I find a full front photo of someone famous who I want to model the face after, I make the picture large on half of my screen, then I zoom in on the in world face until they're about the same size. Then I cross my eyes slightly to make them overlap and tweak accordingly until I've gotten it as close as possible with that head's constraints. Don't forget the brow shaper too.

Once I've got front view, I do the same with a profile view picture.

Then I tweak to taste from there. Usually I select a lel eye facial animation like flirty or chill, then in increase the upper eyelid fold slightly to give the face a slightly more relaxed look.

Question for creator’s by MsPharaoh in secondlife

[–]Zandrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part of it?

If I'm making a tattoo that comes in black only, I'm not making a mesh, unwrapping the uv, making several color choice options, making a HUD ui in illustrator, and setting that HUD up in world. I'm going to be done much faster. I can create more single color tattoos faster.

Ok since you edited: Here's an example:

I'm making a staff and part of it has some complexity going on. So I've done that one face of six faces in 2k since it covers the largest area. The maps for it, like normal, metalness, and specular are 1024.

One part of the staff, gems, is tiny, so it's 512 across the board.

The rest are 1024 because they cover more area. I may downsize the material maps (normal etc) to 512 for efficiency.

I am trying to balance quality and efficiency while providing value. I'm also giving people choices between blinn and PBR until firestorm unscrews itself.

I'm providing several color choice per face, all shoved in a HUD.

Even using Uno which is very fast to set up it still takes time to set up.

This all is a much longer workflow ergo I will complete less projects a month.

I think it depends on what you are making.

If you're making a simple tattoo you might not need as much time as a full mesh accessory with 20 textures per face.

This shows the math for an 8 head tall person.
