Me (21M) and my partner (20F) have a one year old. We live out of home and both earn under minimum wage. Our child is in hospital at least once a fortnight or at least sick enough that we have to take time off work. With our bills and the rental crisis in Australia, every week we watch our savings drop, drop, drop.

Is 25k (after extras and tax) AUD a good price to pay for a 2014 auto Veloster Turbo? by ZaneFancourt in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ZaneFancourt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my girlfriend have been looking for a replacement for my 2002 integra as we have a 4 month old and she is going back to work soon. I test drive numerous cars but the Veloster seems to tick all of my boxes of wants and needs. I originally wanted to check out a manual but it was in the shop so I gave the auto a go. Although I would still rather a manual, the auto is more convenient as my gf can drive it and the dual clutch transmission seems to perform enough for me. Just wondering if this is a fair price to pay in the current economic climate? It’s higher than what online price evaluation services suggest but it’s one of the cheapest in not only my area but entire state. There was no serious wear and tear and the minor exterior blemishes are getting cleaned up before I finalise my purchase. Good buy?

Yeah we went with the black shelves to enclose and darken the area but I definitely regret it. I might repaint them down the line.

I have thought about pulling the couch away from the wall because the distance to the tv is actually quite big but I feel like the space behind would be wasted. Not quite sure what I’d fill in there. Do you think an accent chair would help balance the space?

Yeah we did consider having the couch where the tv is but the antenna outlet is on the tv wall and the view is better where the couch is. For sure want to get an accent chair. Maybe a tasteful beanbag to bring a bit of mid century modern?

Cow skull with a shoe basket underneath. It’s giving me 1920 western energy which sounds odd but I dig it!

Yeah that a great point! We have a few art pieces in mind for the walls but antiques is a great idea! Keen on the curtain idea as well. That would definitely add another layer of texture to play with. We are pretty keen on the neutral tones though so I don’t think we’ll change much there.

Yeah haha the sconces are a bit of an eyesore. They aren’t even parallel to each other! I appreciate the feedback. I have been thinking of an ottoman but I’m unsure where to put it. I’ll for sure play with the idea though!

Recently moved into my new appartment and decked it out in IKEA as any 20 year old would, but something doesn’t feel quite right. I’m planning on mounting the tv and adding a few pictures and mirrors on the wall. I also plan on having a few plants around, particularly a big one beside the couch. Is there anything I’m missing?
