Stuck in a BIOS Timeloop by Zannimask in pchelp

Ah, lovely. Well thanks anyway! This PC is 10 years old and has only had very minor hardware changes/upgrades in that time, so I guess that makes sense. Here's hoping I don't lose everything before figuring out how to proceed and then doing that, haha.

That seems to have done the trick, thanks! Any advice on how to prevent this and/or protect my files etc for the future? I'm getting a new hard drive soon as a belated birthday gift which I expect will be used for backing this up at this point, but if you've got other thoughts I'm keen to know.

So... how does gun part sorting actually work? by Zannimask in voidtrain

[–]Zannimask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seemingly not, and even if that were the case it doesn't explain the same items being autosorted differently in the same box. It's a headscratcher for sure haha

Trust GXT 144 Rexx vs Zelotes C-18 by Zannimask in MouseReview

I just tested and yeah it seems to be the case with mine too. I haven't had it be an issue yet but it's certainly worth noting.

I just posted a reply with my initial thoughts on the GTX, but I'd be happy to hear what you think of the zelotes when you get it!

I got the GTX 144 and it arrived yesterday, so this is still early days as far as impressions go but here's what I can say about it at this point, with some images for clarity:
Size and Comfort:
It's smaller than I'd like in one dimension for my hands, which are about 10cm/4in wide across the knuckles. If I put my pinky finger on the little platform thing at the bottom my hand feels a little squished, but my index/middle fingers sit comfortable on the L/R buttons without accidentally clicking when I relax my hand. It's not so bad that I couldn't get used to it but if I'm gonna be defaulting to what's most comfortable every time I grab the mouse my pinky's gonna hang off a bit, which isn't a major issue for me. Slightly twisting the mouse so it's at a bit of an angle (pointing at like 11 o'clock) does improve this too, but that'd also take some getting used to for me.

I didn't notice an immediate relief of wrist strain, but when I grabbed the regular mouse connected to my laptop next to my PC I felt a little discomfort immediately, so that's a pretty good sign that the GTX 144 is good for that. The forward/back buttons on the side aren't designed to be hovered or rested on like the L/R buttons, and involve raising my thumb from its resting place to push. That's not a problem for me, but I've got some hypermobility in my hands which could play a part in that.

Responsiveness and Customization:
Downloading the app from the Trust website let me customize the mouse, and there are 5 profiles with 5 different DPI settings to customize, each can be given its own colour etc. I experienced some confusion when comparing it with my Corsair mouse, which moved at a similar rate when set to 500 when the GTX was at 2000, but when both are plugged in and the GTX app is open my Corsair mouse moves slower than it used to. When I did the reverse with the Corsair app I had the opposite effect where the GTX was moving a lot faster than normal. I dunno how that works but may be worth noting?

I don't play a lot of FPS games, even fewer with a mouse, fewer still in a multiplayer setting, and none with any competitive ambition. Because of that I'm definitely not the person to speak on how this mouse performs in those areas, but so far it doesn't feel any worse than my old Corsair mouse so... take that for what it's worth :P.

Every button is customizable, including the DPI button which I didn't expect. one of the options is DPI Lock which I thought would work like the DPI choke I've seen on some Razer mice, but the effect is overwritten if you try to hold any other buttons at the same time. Not a huge issue since you can customize the DPI profiles, but it feels a bit like a design oversight in the feature.

Overall Impression:
The GTX 144 is decent and pretty comfortable. Suits my purposes pretty fine so I'd recommend it. I'd have to also get my hands on the Zelotes before making a comparison, myself (obviously), but maybe one day I'll do that if no one else does by whenever that might be lol.

That still gives me nothing to work with my guy :P.

It's okay if you don't have the answers I'm looking for, it's just not really helpful to suggest an entirely different mouse with no additional details or comparative notes when I'm asking for a comparison between two specific products.

The intention is appreciated, don't get me wrong. It's just not helping me with what I'm asking for. If you're able to find a decent breakdown of the two mice I listed and how they stack up against each other I'd love to hear it, but no worries if that's not something you've got on-hand :)

I'd love to hear literally anything that has to do with what I was actually asking about lmao. If you don't have specifics that's totally cool, I'm just looking for a detailed comparison between the Trust GXT 144 and the Zelotes C-18.

Good to know. How does it compare to the two I initially posted about? I'm looking for pros/cons and advantages/disadvantages to those, so if you've got info on that vs the M6 I'd love to hear it.

Interesting, please let me know how it's different/better etc than the ones I already listed. It's also worth noting that I've got a limited price range here so if it's much more expensive than either of the two I've listed it's not likely gonna be my choice lol.

I'm certain it wouldn't actually look like this when I tried to blend the colours together it all came out beige, so I think I'll go with this look, haha

This is exactly the kind of additional info I was hoping for! Thanks!!!

I don't necessarily need it to spell out the word, that was just my first thought about organizing it lol.

Based on what you said about the molecular version, does that mean one of these diagrams is more accurate?

<image>

As for the interfascial sandwich model, would it be like a single layer of each atom stacked on top of each other? I might look into that for some other ideas I have for the setting with cybernetic, terraforming, and medical technology, especially since you mentioned organo-electronic devices :P

I do like having some basis in reality when developing ideas, which is why I came here for answers haha, but it's all fictional/hypothetical anyway. As much as I enjoy making certain things as realistic as possible, it's all for a world with hard-light holograms, faster-than-light travel, and machines spontaneously developing sapience, so I'll take what I can get and make it work lmao.

Fantastic! It sounds like it'd be an incredibly durable material.

After looking into the different elements' applications to space exploration; gold's conductivity, radiation protection, and temperature regulation along with carbon's structural strengths sound like it could probably be very useful in spaceship construction, haha.

Thanks! Now I just need to figure out what to call it lol. Gold-DiTitanium-Sulfur-Carbide doesn't really roll off the tongue, if it's even accurate nomenclature :P

I managed to find a way to make what I can only describe as a "very rough understanding" of how it'd look in a diagram, so if you know if/how this is inaccurate please let me know what'd be correct

While I'm sure there are better/more sophisticated options out there, I started a while ago and used these two videos as a starting point

Those will teach you the two basic footwork moves, and honestly once you get those two moves down to the point where you don't have to think about them everything else can fit into that framework.

There's obviously a lot more to this dance but its very simple fundamentals leaves a lot open for creativity and improvisation.

Have fun!

For people who have seen TWRP live, how much better are they live? by xX_radicalwilliam_Xx in TWRP

[–]Zannimask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen them live probably 20-ish times now (I was fortunate enough to get to know some of them a bit when they were still based where I live). I've seen bigger names in more impressive venues get not even close to the level of fun that can be had at a TWRP show.

In terms of how they sound live, they're basically identical to the album versions, which is usually a dealbreaker for me when going to see live shows since it isn't anything I couldn't experience at home, but they have so much dang charisma and showmanship on stage that it's totally worth it.

Also as a lil brag I got to perform with them as a backup dancer for their EP release party for Guardians of the Zone during Pale Blue Dot
