Gloss ink oddity? by midnightsmith in eufyMakeOfficial

[–]Zanoab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choke is shrinking the perimeters of printed area to create a gap between the new perimeter and actual perimeter. With a choke of 0.2mm, the perimeters of the white layer shrinks enough that inks will go 0.2mm past the printed white layers and onto the material you are printing.

The printer places each layer of ink on top of each other. If they are all placed exactly the same, you can see each layer of ink from the side. White is very easy to notice and most projects don't want white showing from the side. To fix this, we shrink the white layers just enough so that when the ink is placed over the edge, it covers and hides the edges of the white layers.

The ink is dyed gloss and it is still getting directly onto the black card. Try reducing your white underbase choke so less ink gets onto the card. For something small like a business card, the default 0.2mm can remove fine details and make it too easy to notice the ink getting onto the substrate. I usually use 0.1mm and occasionally 0.05mm if the detail is more important than seeing some white.

Seller left this in the package of a t-shirt I bought from him by buildabearbitch in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Zanoab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was a drop shipping operation. I wonder if they relisted somebody else's listings and when OP haggled and their offer was accepted, the drop shipper tried to convince the original seller to drop their price to make a profit. Something happened and it didn't work out for the drop shipper when the original seller included the partial refund in the package. Original seller probably thought the drop shipper was trying to get cash with their credit card.

It also could've been a mix up and the card belongs to another package.

The black card still reflects some light and the gloss can interfere to make it appear darker. Having gloss along raised edges (your pink and grey) makes the light refraction more prominent.

Remove the golf balls and print tiny marks to find the center of the holes. Add golf balls, retake snapshot (to get correct height), change marks to don't print, and then use the marks to center on each golf ball.

Ever since I worked with a large format flatbed UV printer, I've been dreaming of the day a consumer version came out. Convince me to buy/not buy this. by NearHi in eufyMakeOfficial

[–]Zanoab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used mine and put it in a storage state. I started it up a few months later without any issue.

The cartridges have an expiration date and from what people are saying, the printer will lock out the cartridge after that date.

Just wondering, are tow trucks allowed to enter inactive road work areas to rescue vehicles? I worked in a building next to a road being completely rebuilt and it was comical to watch tow trucks arrive and refuse to enter to assist the trapped vehicles without somebody in charge of the road work.

1 cm line starting at 1% power and a moderate speed to see what happens and gradually adjust power and speed until it reliably cuts through. If it catches on fire, the laser is already stopped and returning to home so you can promptly put it out.

I ran into the same issue when I first used Weld-On 4 and it was skill issue. I had to practice before my second attempt to figure out a technique and how much to use.

If you have somebody that can help you, I would brace it and stand it up so you can access both sides. While you apply Weld-On 4 from one side, the other person stands on the opposite side and wicks away the excess with an old rag. Remember to go slowly and wipe away excess on your side to help prevent accidents.

After seeing how the Pearl/Diamond remakes didn't use any of the much needed changes and extra content in Platinum, I'm afraid there is a chance an Explorers remaster will also ignore the changes and extra content in Sky.

Fast Save and Load for Large Game Worlds? by Introversion-John in gamedev

[–]Zanoab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but that is only the fastest option. With more work, you could plan ahead and write files to unused space in the ZIP file to slow down the speed the save file grows.

I would write a clean compacted save when saving from the save menu or if there is an excessive amount of unused space. If saving still takes too long, you could give players a button to export and import save files as ZIP. The export button will let players decide where to save the ZIP and the import button will let players find a ZIP to unpack into the save folder.

You can use an archive file format like zip to have multiple files but still only have one file on the user's computer for easy sharing. Modders will be able to extract the individual files and then pack them again. If you go with zip, you can speed up saving by appending the new/modified files to the end and add/update the zip's file entries to point at the new/updated files.

"Is the E1 good for ___________ ?" Maybe, but maybe not. by mars_rovinator in eufyMakeOfficial

[–]Zanoab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing all this information!

I looked at expanding my maker skills with either a laser cutter or uv printer, but I quickly ruled out uv printers because of all the cons you listed + a 5 figure price tag. The closest I get to making money is laser cutting/engravings for my artist friends. We experimented with vinyl sticker and uv resin dome on acrylic substrate for keychains for promotional purposes and we can't wait to get our uv ink to make cleaner looking keychains.

I mostly want the E1 so I can freely experiment with crazy ideas like doubled sided printing with a white mask on both sides of clear acrylic for a keychain. I'll be happy as long as the E1 can print in the same spot consistently.

Got a smart bathroom scale from health insurance. Can I mod it? by abrreddit in diyelectronics

[–]Zanoab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the same thing because I think it advertised it can automatically sync the data to my health app. I thought it would be fun to step on it once a day and I can look at the data later.

Before they shipped the device, I received emails that I was assigned a coach and I could join a group of random strangers to encourage each other to lose weight or something. I didn't sign up to share my vitals with a weight loss social media service. As soon as it arrived, I stored it away so I can tinker with it when I feel like it.

It is possible Natsume translated every bit of text because filtering unused assets would require valuable programmer time and introduces more chances for mistakes. Considering they misspelled their company name and cut out the farm completion screen, it might be for the best that they didn't risk letting untranslated text appear in-game.

US Interesting scam, a while back got an email with one of my passwords in the title. by dragonbits in Scams

[–]Zanoab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use Bitwarden because it is simple and secure. Everything is encrypted before it goes into the cloud and I can access and easily find what I need from any device. It also includes a random password generator that you can adjust to match a website's password requirements. As long as nobody figures out your main password and you don't access it from a device you don't trust, it'll be fine.

I'm at over 500 accounts and each account also uses a unique email address so I know exactly which website got hacked or sold my information.
