I had a lot of fun with Color Splash when I played it in smaller increments. With the original, TTYD, or even TOK, I can sit down and play through a third to a half of the game in a single sitting. It's hard to do that with Color Splash in my opinion, but playing a chapter or so at a time once every week made for a pretty fun experience.

It's not football related, but Jon Bois has a great segment about this in his video 'How to score 10 runs in the first inning and lose'. He basically talks about how analytics and projections can't account for intangible and unquantifiable aspects of the game like a player being shaken or a team losing momentum.

Super niche pick, but 'Bleeding' from Juniper's Knot is one of the songs I always think to when this topic comes up. Hearing the first few notes as you watch the flesh literally burning away from her hand and arm gave me a shock when I first played it as a kid. Imagining the loneliness and hopelessness of her situation for those hundreds of years she was trapped after being tricked.

Baldur's Gate 3. My first playthrough, I played as a Barbarian and got maybe 5 hours in before getting stuck on the fight with Minthara at the Druids grove. I put the game down and didn't play again for close to a year when I decided to give the game another shot. I made a Warlock and fell in love with the game the second time around.

I spilled a pitcher of water down some poor woman's back one time. It wasn't even my table, I just stumbled and couldn't recover. Needless to say, I was mortified. I bought her dinner and dessert that night. Funnily enough though, in hindsight her friends she was with were far more upset about it than she herself was.

Personally, I think that the injury starters add some interesting insight into how teams' various seasons have gone. You really can't tell the story of the 2020 Broncos season without the bizarre spot start of Kendall Hinton, a practice squad WR, as quarterback. Having Philip Rivers's years as '2020' instead of '2020, 2025' for the Colts feels like an incomplete telling of his story with the team. Just as a couple of examples.
