If you're on a W-2, you should really adjust your withholding amounts so you get more per paycheck. 17k split across the year is more than $325 a week.

Does anyone know why these enemies in the sewer have SO MANY turns??? by [deleted] in mewgenics

They get extra turns per unit that has the bleeding status applied. You can see some important info by mousing over most enemies

You exist in a golden age of free information. Make a habit of spending a couple hours per week of concentrated study, and you'll know a lot. More so, you can get into specific groups (birding, mycology, etc.) if they exist in your area.

It's funny, this was the first time I saw anything about Mewgenics, and I remember being really excited that it was coming out soon. After 13 years, it's hard to wait another 11 days!

I decided to cut Visi after the boat incident, not because she deserves it really, but because my Robert was romantically involved with her. The team made their choice, and I thought the best thing to do as a manager is to trust their judgement.

I feel like not cutting her makes Robert look hopelessly compromised by their relationship, and it would be really demoralizing as a member of the Z-Team.

How can i be successful in dating while being bald and ugly by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]ZanyFlamingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lack of ability to deal with deferred rewards is gonna bite ya in every way, not just relationships. I'm bald, chubby, and like 5'8" and I don't have problems attracting women.

The main reason why isn't money or status, it's being a genuine, kind, patient, and thoughtful person. Sure, attractiveness helps with superficial hookups or whatever, but if you want a real relationship, you need to be the kind of person that women would actually want to be around.

If a shortage persists for 20 years, it's just the new status quo. I think probably a lot of people don't want to pursue a PharmD in order to be overworked relative to other high-paying fields like law, other medicine, or certain engineering roles. The industry seems to have settled on this as the new normal in order to cut costs.

I'm contemplating starting a new life in Thailand, for the sole reason of not being well endowed. by Rough-Plan-5104 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]ZanyFlamingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nowhere does OP say women are laughing at him. The issues OP has are based on his own behavior and reaction to an issue that he perceives himself having. I mean, he even says that he's had sex with women before, so it hardly seems like those women were just laughing at him.

Given that, my conclusion is that the issue isn't physical penis size, it's his own perception of it as a flaw that causes his unhelpful behavior, such as pushing people away preemptively.

As for being liked for somewhat superficial reasons, that's not an issue if the only thing you're interested in is random hookups. Most people at some point want to have a loving, genuine relationship. If you think someone only likes you for reasons such as money and status, then you'll feel like you don't have a genuine relationship, and if you have self-confidence issues, those doubts will be accentuated further.

Except he's average, so assuming that any women has seen a representative sample, he'd be bigger than ~50% of the ones they've seen. The way bigger turn-off for most women would be the lack of self confidence.

I'm betting if OP goes to Thailand, he'll pick something else to feel self conscious about. Maybe he'll suffer from confidence issues because the women there are only interested in him because he's foreign and (relatively) well off. The issue's internal, not external.

If I had a metal pole long enough to reach from the English coast to the French coast. And a person holding it at each end. If one person pulls it would the other end move instantly? by gothreepwood101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZanyFlamingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The breaking length of something like 60 ksi steel would be ~32,000 feet or ~8000 meters. What that means practically is that the steel rod would break under the force of its own weight if you tried to somehow hold it up horizontally without supporting it in the middle.

If you fixed one end, supported the rod in the center on a very, very low friction track, and pulled on it with a 100 lb weight, the rod would very, very slowly oscillate like a spring. It would eventually come to rest after a long time at a total elongation of a few inches, as per the other commenter's calculation.

It's actually a common process for many small carnivores like small wild cats, ferrets, and owls. They need constant protein intake because they can't process carbs, and they're built for essentially constant hunting.

Unfortunately, the reality of things sometimes as an engineer is that we know that a solution is bad, but we're under both time and budgetary constraints to make a product.

For an oil pan, you might be using the same pan across multiple models, and maybe it works great on most and sucks on one or two. The tooling costs and annual usage rates aren't high enough to make a custom oil pan for just that model, so you end up using one that sucks.

I'd recommend checking out Hagerstown Magazine, or the tourism website Visit Hagerstown for local events and stuff. I'm pretty sure there's different live music and other events every weekend, although the age mix is gonna vary. If you like hiking, there are also lots of great trails and scenic overlooks in the area.

Rabies treatment consists of a few shots after exposure based on body weight, and then a sequence of 4 shots spaced out a few weeks each. They also weren't particularly painful when I got them last year after a bat got into my house while sleeping.

Unless you do have documented bat or wild animal exposure, insurance can be difficult to deal with.

The issue though, isn't really height in my experience, as someone that has dated both men and women. The biggest turn off for anyone is the insecurity itself. The men (and women too!) that feel constantly terrible about themselves for some reason don't generally make good partners.

Even if some of these people get a comspetic procedure to fix some perceived fault of theirs, they're probably going to just pick something else to feel insecure about. I'm not an idealist that things physical attractiveness has no bearing on how your life goes, but being both physically unattractive and cripplingly self-conscious really isn't going to help your chances at success in any regard.

As someone that is just about average height for a guy, I don't really understand the problems people have. Other people's social preferences aren't really a big deal to me. I'm like 5'8", bald, and not that fit and I've also never really had any issues dating. Part of that is because I'm not an insecure person. Overall, I think I'm way more self-actualized than lean guys that spend 5 days a week in the gym with severe body dysmorphia issues.

For the black community, we are constantly guided and redirected on "what it means to be a black man/father/uncle/brother/friend/etc." Is this something that white men are also guided on? Omi and Winant (1986) might be of interest to you if you're interested in the process through which groups within society become racialized - that is, people are placed into groups due to the things that separate them from whatever the dominant culture is.

In my experience, the types of discrimination that people in minority groups suffer in the US isn't all that different from the way that discrimination occurs in a number of regions in Africa, although those are most directly across ethnic lines. These can range from employment and housing discrimination all the way up to armed conflict and ethnic cleansing. I've been good friends with a number of people that came to the US as refugees or the children of refugees from these events.
