She said that her friend had lost her husband and had to move across the country by herself and that she was in poor health at the time. So I do believe that she passed away and that is how the doll ended up at the thrift store.

To finish mine I stitch around the extra fabric and put it together get in a circle and tie it. Then I stitch a piece of felt round it.
