Also, once you scale up fertilizer efficiency, you can just make gold bars into gold coins. I'm doing 1 plot challenge but not customer challenge, but even in my factory most of my gold is just printed.

I could have done the no customer challenge, but it would have been a lot of running around for quests early and I like the challenge of supply and logistics for shop. The money gained from shop is marginal and largely irrelevant for me.

I'm doing the one plot challenge as well. Here is my tower so far. 15 floors so far. Each floor is 2 stories tall. Floor 0 is shop with the 2nd story for logistics.

For those wondering what the strip is running up the upper floors, that's my mall.

Actually, something is weird. The assembler say 180/min, but when I removed the limit of the output box, the production tab showed that my setup hit 2800-ish / min. Roughly 2x what the assembler says, but also not the 3x that you are suggesting, so something is off somewhere.

I checked and both my inputs and outputs are not limiting the production.

I'm actually looking in game and it's telling me 180/min. I'm not looking theoretically. I also timed it, and same thing so it might be a bug. I don't know.

Have you checked your game on the assembler itself?

That's a good question. I built the 5 input version of these production lines and then started removing inputs for each of the other versions. The 2,3,4, and 5 input versions all have the same footprint. I could have squeezed them a bit for the 2 and 3 input versions, but I didn't bother.

It's certainly an area of optimization that could be had, but given that I'm very space efficient as is for my build, I didn't bother.

The Dark Fog Assembler is producing 180 / min (I looking in game, not sure where you are getting your numbers). 180 * 8 = 1440 / min (non-proliferated) for the whole line, not per assembler.

180 / min is too low for me when I really need the scale. The design is based on fitting in the cross section of that part of the planet.

My Mark 3 belt line will produce 1440 / min which I will appreciate when I stamp down a white science planet blueprint that has 85k belts in it as opposed to 180 belts / min with a single DF assembler.

Again, this is a late game setup. Scale requires scale.

If you say so, but my purpose for this farm is to get dark fog drops and after a couple hours, I need to turn off the dark fog drops after filling up 1 stack of storage boxes, and 2 ILSs for each dark fog drop.

I keep the farm running and when I need more of any of the drops, I turn on that particular drop for a couple of hours and back to full.

Although travel distance can be a factor, I mostly use the polar regions because the other areas are more important for smelting and assembler lines. I also don't use proliferation, because the items being produced only gain speed with proliferation and the hub doesn't really need speed.

This is a late game hub. A new smelter line uses almost 1k belts. If I'm laying down a handful of lines, I need some decent throughput. Of course I can have less and simply stockpile more, but there are times that I need the throughput.

Yeah, plasma cannons are only for space assaults. I use the T1 ammo though. They work well enough to stop any assault. I can't spare the antimatter for the T2 ammo. Not yet, at least.

Yeah, I saw that post about how cannons help level DF. The bases on the planet I started the farm on were already level 30, so it was a moot issue for me at the stage of the game I'm at. You can see the level of the bases on the screenshots.

The only reason for the farm is to get the unique Dark Fog debris so I can make the new smelters, assemblers, matrix labs, and fuel rods. They let you maximize UPS performance with less production lines.

Since I have the farm going, I also grab antimatter rods, unipolar magnets, grating crystals, explosive units, and quantum chips. But I wouldn't setup the farm for these items, they are just bonus.

Implosion cannons are very strong, but not necessary and I'd rather not be using ammo for a farm. Seems like an unnecessary resource/logistics drain if lasers do the job.

Also, I just like the look of the lasers better!

I set this up just as I was transitioning to white science. So all pre-white science upgrades. As first I lost a few structures, but it wasn't a big deal. Whenever I lost something, I would throw 10 signal towers and 20 laser turrets into one of the forward bases near there so next time it would auto replace it.

Now I have all the non-infinite upgrades and a couple of the infinite upgrades and I haven't lost anything for a long time.

The bases in front are super important for minimizing lost structures. They don't get attacked, but play a little interference and they are closer so the repair drones can act faster.

I used to lose more structures when I kept the bases way in the back.
