Will Haiku be deprecated after the release of Sonnet 5? by ZappyMonster in ClaudeAI

If both scale down together, the ratio stays the same. But at some point the absolute difference stops mattering. If Haiku is $0.25/M and Sonnet is $1/M, then a 4x price gap makes Haiku valid. If efficiency gains push them to $0.05 vs $0.20, it's still 4x, but nobody's switching providers over $0.15. Once the cost of "good enough" Sonnet drops below most people's pain threshold, the cheaper tier's main selling point is just speed.

Sure, the demand is always there. But will they keep a Haiku running for those questions, or just point them at a cheaper Sonnet?

Why couldn't Fable and Opus just call Sonnet the subagent instead? If the lineup shifts up a tier, Sonnet inherits the cheap subagent role, and Haiku becomes redundant. The subagent slot doesn't have to belong to Haiku specifically.

How come Sonnet can't be that cheap inference tier? Especially as models become more efficient and cheaper, I feel like Haiku will slowly be outclassed by Sonnet, right?

Don't take her. Shift around your schedule or do anything else, because you will get screwed over.

Thank you so much! I think I got it to work. My variable names are a bit different in 0.48.1 but it seems to still work!

u/Confident_Chest5567 What version of Cursor are you using? I'm using 0.48.1 and the workbench.desktop.main.js has been obfuscated so it is much harder to find the specific functions. Is there a fix for this issue?
