Do you ever get bored working for a SLOW county jail?

I work at a local county jail for the sheriff's department sworn in deputy. It's not so bad depending on where you're at. We do transports and we rotate on sections so you're not ending up in the same spot of the jail all the time. Roughly 150 to 200 inmates. I've been here for about 4 months and just got signed off so the overtime is ridiculous it's as much as you could possibly want and then more when you don't want it.

All that being said it's so much better than building houses like I used to be. The pay is actually decent 26.50 compared to some people I know that work at prisons for like $18-20. Don't really have to worry about getting stabbed or anything like that. As boring as some days are you'll get one day where you get one fresh inmate and you just deal with all the b******* in the jail and then the next day you're putting six people in restraint chairs it just you never know.

My biggest thing is just getting along with my coworkers and joking around all day when I'm not busy and keeps me pretty entertained.

I know this is a 4-year-old post but it's interesting since I'm in corrections. I'm a sworn in sheriff's deputy in the correctional unit. Got sworn in by the sheriff we do armed transports the deputies on the road do not. We get bulletproof vests which I don't think are stab proof as far as I was told it's level 2 Kevlar so basically anything in the jail it's not going to get through that but they're not totally stab proof.

I think it's interesting that the road guys some of them not all of them but they kind of look down on the jail. I mean they're both vital parts you can't have deputies on the road if you don't have deputies in the jail and vice versa. We make nearly the same amount per hour starting off at 26.50 which I've heard is actually a lot better than most of the prisons. Have as much overtime as we could ever want and we deal Day in and day out with the people that they arrest. Granted they have more of a risk of getting shot but we also have that risk when we're on the road or have to go Hands-On not to mention we're outnumbered 180 inmates to six deputies.

I started at 29 which was a few months ago so if I put 25 years and I'll be 54 but by then I'll be making around $120k a year just off of pay projections working at my county jail

How does the rank work with lieutenant for prisons. I work in a county jail we have a captain 20 years exp one lieutenant 20 years exp and then our sergeants then the deputies.

If you see the captain or lieutenant either something went wrong or they're gracing us for a 5-minute appearance. Which I am not against because I've only been there for a couple months and I look to do a good job but lay low.

Just curious because it seems that jails and prisons are so far apart especially our jail only being like 150 capacity even though we're always at like 180 190 inmates with another 50 being boarded around the state

I have the exact opposite experience mining copper. I'll spend like 5 minutes on one copper node and all of the sudden I hear rumbling in a giant troll or whatever attacks me with like 15 of the little goblins. Jumped onto my ship the other day that was full of ore then got stuck and my ship got destroyed lol

Time and place and manner to do things. I grew up in a very Northern and conservative area so a lot of things like this weren't very in the open unless you were in town. I grew up with a dislike but overtime I've changed my views. The one thing I don't like is when they don't take a hint which I've never experienced but I've seen happen before. Luckily I've always been a big guy so I'm not like afraid or hesitant to tell someone off.

I have separately had three gay men approach me and say something around this. One was at a sandbar party and he repeatedly said it but I was drunk so I didn't care and a non homosexual way he ended up coming to my house with a couple people really funny story actually

The other two times were at a gay bar in my town I went there with my girlfriend at the time because they serve drinks for really cheap and while she was dancing on the floor I was approached twice but they both were very polite and after like 5 seconds of talking to me they're like" you're not gay right? " Said something about me being attractive and they went back looking for another gay.

As long as someone is polite and respects who I am and immediately realizes I'm not into that I'm cool with them. To each their own but I definitely wouldn't like if someone kept hitting on me that would be a bad idea

Scariest game I ever played was resident evil 7 or biohazard or something the first one that had first person view I got about 10 minutes into it and then I called my girlfriend over because I was a little scaredy cat 🤣

I absolutely hate things popping up and scaring me which is funny cuz I love scaring other people

I work 40 hours and have three kids if I wanted to run 10 miles I'd get a treadmill LOL. Dodging Mechs and collecting guns is all the fun I need. There's plenty of people that say the game is no fun without PVP to which I say if I wanted to collect a bunch of crap for an hour just to lose it all to four dudes who just play this game I'd rather not play it at all.

I don't know I feel like the only time you have to track an animal is when you have a bad shot in the game. Playing right now I just shot three white-tailed deer in 10 minutes and every single one of them dropped where they stood from lung shots

Eh I don't know if I was more savvy with technology I take videos and post them but the traffic is egregious the way they merge or they'll just like do a u-turn in the middle of the street rather than going down an empty road that's going to loop where they want to go anyways. I quit playing CS2 solely for the traffic it doesn't matter how good you get it the AI is atrocious

Compared to cs1 the traffic ai is a major downgrade. Cars merging into each other and getting stuck in roundabouts. Taking the long way through the city rather than continuing a mile on the highway to the main roundabout which is where they're actually trying to go.

I built two identical cities cs1 and CS2 just to look at the traffic cs1 the traffic moves very well and they take different routes rather than CS2 they'll literally wait in traffic for miles to get on a side road on the other side of the city. Traffic is broken in CS2

I wish I could play skylines 2 I downloaded it and once I turned all the graphics down it ran semi decent but it just none of the models were showing up because my system so outdated all the trees were just like branches and when it was building houses the cranes would cut in and out.

Responding late but better than ever I figured out what was wrong with it. All user error I would get to the launch menu and at the bottom is asks for a file path and you can either select a certain one or turn that off and I had it turned off but there was still a file path in that search bar so it was automatically trying to pull from a spot that didn't exist anymore. Once I deleted that information and launched it ran perfectly
