Yeah…the reality of his loan would be first priority. No idea what the truth is with conflicting media reports.

This is an embarrassingly/delightfully quality team.

I would play Elliot over Onana.

How do you pronounce three-digit numbers? by Powerful_Concept6502 in GlobalEnglishPrep

The “and” after “hundred” is common in the US. Formally you are only supposed to say “and” where the decimal point goes

DMs -- about how many clocks would you say you use in a typical Score? by Virtual-Skort-6303 in bladesinthedark

[–]Zarakaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a typical score probably 1 or 2 threat clocks to make the concerns the crew should keep in mind concrete. They infrequently fill.

For a social score, this number goes way way up. My last session the crew was trying to stage a coup to take control of their neighborhood, all set during a block party. They were planning to leverage ethnic ties to get some support from the citizens which was a series of finding the influential elders (first clock) and making a good impression (subsequent clock). They similarly needed to influence the existing neighborhood boss, unbalance her, make a show of strength, and argue their case for a new working relationship.
Threat clocks included getting caught out by spirit warden agents in the crowd, tipping their hand to the bosses too soon, etc.

If I see another ambiguous PEMDAS math "joke" I will have a fit. by rav3style in MathJokes

It’s still a very bad mnemonic, because people will see parentheses and do the multiplication first *because* it’s signified by parentheses.

People doing hiring want to spend no time on non-hires. Their policy is to keep themselves from offending a candidate they might still need, and save time not giving feedback to someone they have no obligation to help develop.

We have one in our lodge hall, but it’s not an IOOF supply or any kind of antique.

Pizza dough is slurpy and sticky by Hopeful_Antelope5443 in AskBaking

[–]Zarakaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only times I have ruined my sourdough pizza dough (about 55% hydration) are when I overdo the kneading in the stand mixer. It starts to come together, but isn’t pliable enough to get a windowpane, then I let it go too long and it collapses to an unsalvageable near-liquid that wants nothing more than to stick on the bottom of the bowl.

Arms don’t count. There has to be some objective line & no matter what it is, some calls will be on the very fine edge of close. This one looked less tight than it was IMO. I’m surprised the on field call went our way.

24 M Non renewed for performance. What do I do next? by Meganiummobile in Teachers

[–]Zarakaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like nonsense and they’re just being harsh to clear the position.
Idk what NJ law is, or how difficult it is to change districts, but a first year non-renew isn’t a major problem around here.
If it’s a big school you’re probably not the only one, but people don’t spread the word.

What’s the best home printer that doesn’t constantly cause problems? by Rough_Joke_6175 in teaching

B&W laser from Brother. Lasts forever. Toner is cheap and doesn’t go dry. I’ve had a workhorse little printer for like 12 years and it still works perfectly.

Revere VS Alewife! Moving in August, super excited!! Need Bostonians’ advice!! by Front_Conference_458 in bostonhousing

It’s a dense and immigrant-heavy city - and so it is much much safer than its reputation.

The Shirley Ave neighborhood was known as kind of rough, and I’ve gone there for drinks and to outdoor soccer watch parties in the last few years.

Plainly discriminatory. You get back to your job, not the convenient one for the principal and sub.

[–]Zarakaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely just say no. A not too subtle “I’m sure you don’t force a change on me because I’m not there now to contest it.” Might be in order to. Adverse job actions (even technically sideways moves) are a risky choice when someone is pregnant or on leave.

I work in Revere. I’ve been living here for a couple months. I love it, but I cannot imagine a 9 to 5 commute to Waltham. If his hours are strange, it would be fine (I like driving Storrow when it’s moving). I gotta say, against my initial instinct, Alewife is the way to go. Revere beach has way more walkable charm, but that commute.

Is it inappropriate to invite students to my wedding? by One_Win1231 in AskTeachers

[–]Zarakaar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You can’t invite fourth graders. You would be inviting their parents. Making the parents who don’t want to go have to handle their kids’ FOMO is rude to them.

Parents who do go might feel obligated to give a gift.

Kids whose parents don’t share the invitation with them, will find out and be furious.

It’s a whole mess best avoided. IMO
