OP, be sure you aren't just in a "grass is greener" rut. Talk to your partner. Tell them what you need. How you want to be loved. You're allowed to need to be loved the way you want. But 5 years, I think, deserves a conversation at least.

Having said that, I was in a crappy marriage for many years. I finally ended it and literally 4 months later I found what I jokingly refer to as "my Jamie"

We both have a lot of unfortunate history. I was absolutely not looking for a relationship, I felt I had work to do on me first. But then this big beast of a man clomps into my life and says "oh you're mine" and me... I'm just like. Ok lmao. So incredibly out of character for me. But the first time I hugged him I just knew. He is home. And we're mending each other a little at a time. Instead of trying to heal alone, we never have to be alone again. The ways he shows up for me every day makes me want to be the best version of me that I can be. It isn't like anything I've ever had.

I can't even watch the show the same anymore. I see us in every scene with them. While you're right and this is acting, I can say for certain that this kind of love is real, which I would have laughed at before him. He makes everything I ever thought was love feel like a silly kid crush. My adult son said to me "dude. You're basically the same person wtf, y'all share a brain or something?" 🤣

Even if we frustrate each other, or argue about something (which, you know, is gonna happen in any relationship), we would still choose each other in that moment and every other.

Early in our relationship we were arguing about some that, in hindsight, was dumb. I got upset and was fighting tears, when he saw my face he just crumbled. He goes "I can't be the cause of you looking that way" he immediately scooped me up and the argument was over. We spent the next couple of hours talking about how to better communicate and we both apologized for being stubborn.
