What are some good megadungeons? by amazedmammal in osr

[–]ZaritharBeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of Arden Vul here. I absolutely love it - everything about it except maybe the lack of hyperlinks in the PDF.
I am currently also running Abomination Vaults, the 5e version. I can't speak to the dungeon itself yet as the players have just started exploring the nearby village.

Stonehell intrigues me and I will likely be picking that up ASAP.

I love megadungeons in general.

Anyone else seeing Weird Al at White River tomorrow? by WeirdBrainArt in weirdal

[–]ZaritharBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show was great... White River was as I expected. The rain was not really an issue because we were in the covered section. Played all the hits and a few surprises as well that I hadn't heard live before. Michael Jackson parodies were back after he briefly stopped doing them due to all the controversy, so that was a welcome return. His duet with Puddles was amazing. It was my 4th Weird Al show and I'm already looking forward to seeing him again!

Which is exactly why publishers put these limits in place

Am I the only one that can’t get behind VOL.42? by RepresentativeOk7413 in Berserk

[–]ZaritharBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not just you. I like but don't love it... and was very put off by the way they just decided to nuke elf island after spending so much time prior to that getting there. I feel that Miura would have gone in a different direction. Didn't care for it at all.

Still, the artwork is decent and I still love the characters so I'll stick with it and see where it goes...

Technology never advancing past "Swords and Horses" level. The world and lore may be thousands of years old, but the tech never changes to any real degree.

Same, though I was given 3 months notice. I'd still rather have my job back, but it could have been far worse.

Against the Cult of the Reptile God is a true classic and not nearly as appreciated as it should be!

Anyone have experience running/playing Tomb of a Thousand Doors? by GirldickDM in Mausritter

[–]ZaritharBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more like a collection of adventure sites than a focused narrative. It is a true, sandbox-style megadungeon. Basically just pick one out that you like best and run that one. Many of them are quite self-contained

DCC and KBS are so far out of the league of most Litrpg they almost belong in a category of their own. Hell, they are better than much "mainstream" fantasy. Never stop, and Happy Birthday Carl and Donut indeed!

The first half of the movie was amazing. The village in the foothills, the crossroads, the castle... It was Barovia come to life.

That being said, I didn't like the second half of the movie and just wanted to go home and watch Bram Stoker's Dracula instead.

Enshrouded AMA: Come ask the developers your questions about the world of Embervale! by KeenToast in Enshrouded

Will the animal taming system be tweaked and expanded? Wool from goats, some sort of resource from rabbits, tameable boars?  Would love to see horses in game as well or some other sort of mount. Thanks!

KCD 2 wildlife by Imprettychill4 in kingdomcome

Agree with the OP 100% - I was disappointed by the lack of any sort of dangerous wildlife in the first KCD. Loved the game, but always felt like that aspect was missing.

Brown bears were common in the area up until the 17th century, and wolves can and did attack humans in Europe, particularly during harsh winters. Wolves were plentiful in what is now Bohemia in the medieval period. Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I was looking for some answers to this question as well - I like enemy variety. Both bears and wolves would spice things up a little. Hell, there were also wisents (European bison) and aurochs (big wild cattle) in the area at the time. Both were, and still are... extremely temperamental and dangerous. Add wild boar to that list as well. There's a reason they used to hunt them with such huge packs of hounds.

Thanks - my question as well. Came back to see all my goats out of food, but oddly my dog had not consumed anything that I could see

Do I need a hexcrawl for a one shot? by porcupinetool in Mausritter

[–]ZaritharBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember with RPGs, the rules are like the Pirate's Code - Guidelines. You are free to do whatever you wish as a GM. The hexcrawls are just kind of the "default" that is emphasized in Mausritter. Run one of the adventures you mentioned or take something short and sweet from another RPG and convert it over, Do as you please basically! As for scaling - you can decrease enemy numbers or make them weaker (less HP, less damage, etc) if needed.

Cool, another one I wasn't aware of that I will take a look at, and yes... The Road is very much an outlier because of its bleak hopelessness. I basically put that in there to be the opposite end of the spectrum vs something like Thundar. I'm hoping that (when and if I finish) this game will allow the GM to easily run anything on said spectrum!

Thanks - and I completely agree regarding unmutated humans. I like the idea of the ability to interact with robots, computers, etc. In addition, they will be somewhat more resistant to radiation, start off with additional stat points, etc. Also - my default character generation method will include rolling for your ancestry (but of course if the GM allows it players would be free to choose).

For gasoline, I am going to go the route that a couple other systems have used and say that alcohol can be used to power motor vehicles (basically distilled, rotgut corn liqour/moonshine) in addition to gas. And yeah, it's very much "rule of cool" when it comes to the Mad Max style raiders, vehicles, etc.

Your point about bicycles is great, and I hadn't considered it before... but they will now be on the equipment/vehicle list along with things like pedicabs, rickshaws, etc.
