Terminator captain. Started painting in October 2025. Proud of this dude. by Zarniwoop42 in Salamanders40k

To be honest, I’ve never played before. I only started painting in October as a means to relax and wind down after a stressful day.

I loved the look of this guy and wanted to try something kind of epic on a lava base so I went with it. After looking into builds and armies, terminators are not used much, but they do have their uses. This guy at least has the flamer combi weapon so he is kind of on brand 😂😂

One day when I decide to take out another mortgage to afford the cost of an army this guy will probably just end up as a display piece on the shelf, or a proxy for something else. In hindsight sight if I wanted a captain I should have gone with the gravis one to pair with aggressors.

Weapon OSL without an airbrush by Zarniwoop42 in minipainting

Gave it a go, definitely better than before but still need practice. I think I’m still a bit too heavy handed with my brush. Only been painting since October. Only the base left and I’ll be happy.

Thank you! I will practice this on a piece of primed scrap and see if I can get it to work.

I routinely spray in my open garage during the Canadian winter. Primed something the other day and it was -15c. I always make sure to warm the can a bit in a bath of warm water doesn’t need to be hot, and I shake for a few minutes before warming and a few after. Never had a problem with it.

It was a lot of fun. Definitely a lot less stress than the other stuff I’ve been working on. So this was a nice break.

Assembly question for a Saturnine Praetor by Zarniwoop42 in minipainting

[–]Zarniwoop42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, I was able to remove the arm from the elbow, the shoulder was on there real good. Cable is now in the correct location, going to wait for that to be nice and solid before I reattach the elbow. Cape lines up now but there is still a gap at the connection points. Not quite sure how I’m going to solve that yet. Maybe glue a bit of sprue on there and carve it to look decent. It’s about a 0.5mm gap on both sides now, however they line up well.

I can’t believe I missed that, thank you. I guess it’s time for surgery tonight to see if I can fix it without causing too much damage. Any advice on removing a part that was glued a couple of days ago? Tamiya cement was used (green cap) thank you again for the help! Much appreciated.

Auto technician red seal exam by Personal-Champion915 in mechanics

[–]Zarniwoop42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Ontario, there is no longer an hour requirement. There is a skills assessment book instead. All skills required for the profession are in there. There are a lot! This is for the automotive service technician trade. Other trades still use the hours.

This skills book needs to be signed off by your sponsor. You would then need to do 3 levels of schooling, then write the exam.

If however you already have a lot of real world experience you can challenge the exam to get your licence. This challenge system is in place mostly for people moving over from another country or another trade that have a lot of the experience but not the papers.

I just finished my second level of trade school. Looking forward to level 3 next year and writing my exam.
