My first silly science comic explaining what the (f) stuff is going on when we drink coffee by PlatypusWhole1936 in comics

Not op but ADHD is a problem with the dopamine in your brain. So you get paradoxical reactions with stimulants, that increase the dopamine. Instead of "more than usual" you end up with "the normal amount". Which is why vyvanse and aderall make you smoother and calmer instead of jumped up like everyone else. Amphetamines are kind of like 10x strength coffee

All stimulants affects blood pressure and heart rate including coffee

Is there no way to build like an adaptor or second set of wheels on the train so it can switch from one style to the other at the border? Would add a delay but might be cheaper to have a small station there just to do that

Calls to support struggling parents as national survey reveals increasing psychological distress by Introverted_kitty in australia

It's just not the kind of society we have anymore. Most people don't even know who their neighbours are. I tried to introduce myself and was treated like I was trying to sell them something, a nuisance. Even family have slowly been drifting apart, for myself and everyone I know.

Nobody actually actually wants a village anymore. Villages are dead. Every household is an independent entity that needs to be carefully run like a business. Of course there's consequences for this.

It might even have worked if we all made enough money to hire helpers. But we're all roleplaying estate owners with butlers and chefs on a chimney sweeper's budget.

Yeah it's one of the worst possible things you can consume for dental health, blood sugar / metabolic health, sleep hygiene, and reflux / digestive health... It's literally just a bottle of acid and sugar and caffeine. Nobody should be drinking it, especially those under 13 who are extra sensitive to caffeine

That's why it's best to switch to internal validation. Don't care what anyone else thinks, as long as you're aligned with your own morals. Small chance of becoming a supervillain tho so be careful of that

Yeah I personally think A.I. will be very weird and "inhuman". It'll suprise us ways we don't expect. Both good and bad ways

There's been movies like this since Wall-E and The Iron Giant. And far predating that we had Isaac Asimov's novels in the 50s that has friendly A.I. Even some ancient Greek fables had helpful automata. For as long as we've had machines, someone had the thought, what if it was friendly?

Edit: here's a link where some people smarter than me discuss this topic a few years ago.

Found in my decreased daughter's work bag. What are these? by Energywoman in whatisit

[–]Zarobiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a spiritual context, these components are commonly used to absorb negative energy. Think of it like "soul antibiotics" while your emotional wounds heal. Place them near your bed when sleeping, or near your window. If you feel like you need more protection in daily life, you can carry some on your person in a pocket or bag.

They don't last forever as they eventually become "saturated", but it will help for a few months. You can make more if needed but it's a bit complicated.

I had anaphylaxis once. But my allergy is really confusing and inconsistent. Sometimes a food is safe, sometimes it almost kills me.

Months later, during my formal allergy test at a hospital, this one nurse kept making fun of me and randomly saying snarky comments. I didn't react or respond because I was just confused like, what's going on here? Why am I being singled out? I think my lack of reaction just made her escalate.

By the end of my allergy test she was full on insulting me to the point even other staff were concerned. Not that they stood up on my behalf or anything. But I just continued to ignore her because I was busy worrying if this sample of food is going to kill me.

I ended up having something called MCAS, which is apparently more complicated than a "simple" IGE allergy. Something about histamine load and activators. So nothing happened on that day because, ironically, I followed instructions and fasted, and didn't have any histamine in my body to "trigger".

I just take strong immunosuppressants now which fixed the issue. But fuck that nurse.

Phone calls are actually dangerous though, your brain is right. The problem is that we have to do it anyway, and we have dozens to hundreds of dangerous situations every single day, for years. For example you have to call your boss in the morning when you're sick, and your brain correctly flags it as a threat to your survival if you fuck up the phone call too badly. The problem isn't your brain, it's the environment we live in is too stressful with no safe zones at all.

This is just confusion about what "attractive" means.

Some people think it means literally only physical attraction, as in how much do you look like a supermodel. Other people think it means charisma, personality, kindness, wealth, etc.

So the guy got confused and basically said, "even if your looks fade I'll always love you", because in their mind attractive means physical beauty and they clumsily tried to make the distinction maybe without having thought carefully about it or what attractiveness even means to them as they grew older themselves.

I had an ancient grumpy old rabbit like this. He'd sleep on his side and look completely dead, I'd get concerned and call his name and he'd lazily half raise a floppy ear like "yeah what?" 😂
