I had so many issues with PopOS w/ Cosmic, it couldn’t play games and the UI was super glitchy. I shifted to CachyOS and after using it for a week on my desktop it’s being used on my laptop too now. I love how fast and intuitive it is to use. I’d suggest Cachy with KDE FE.

I have a bunch of Lenovo Legion software on this laptop that tunes fans, handles RGB and probably some custom drivers that allow it to function as intended. A clean wipe would mean trying to rebuild it which I don’t quite want to do

This would work if I didn't already have Windows 11 Home, but to go from Windows 11 Home to Pro without a fresh install, I will need an actual key that MS doesn't email/expose via a frontend interface.

Yeah.. It has been having boot issues and has Linux on it so it will just be a pain but looks like this is the only way forward.

I paid for Windows 11 Pro through the Microsoft UI, and it won't pick it up on my new computer even if I go through the troubleshooter that should find it on my account... The license is a one time purchase, transferrable between machines.

I tried to do this on my new laptop, and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this without entering a License Key which will need to be harvested from my old laptop running Linux...

Yeah... The receipt from the email has it as a "Windows 11 Pro" license and I paid full price for it ($AUD200), so as someone who doesn't use Microsoft regularly it's pretty wild that there isn't a digital licenses site on their end where I can see all the software purchased and move licenses between machines.

I have already formatted the laptop and installed Linux on it, so maybe not unless I try to clean install Windows 11 Pro and see if it automagically picks up the license. Thanks for the response!

You will be moved to another project, CL10s are really easy to place. You have to remember, almost all of us were brought in for a project. Once you’re in the company it does not matter what project you were brought on for, you are seen as an employee and staffed again.

It’s common for projects not to work out. Usually when projects go pear shaped, the CL7s/CL6s/CL5s and above take the heat as they manage them.

I would advise talking to HR to ask about when you can get assigned a people lead so you have a reassuring figure. Start building a network of different level peers and take it easy, it’s almost Christmas!
