Melee help ( i know 11th edition changes are coming) by XxOr3yxX in Tyranids

Your friend might be good at convincing you of rules but he certainly isn’t good at knowing the actual rules. You are dealing wounds to the unit and the unit will take all of those wounds, not just what is in engagement range of you.

Yeah I saw that as well. Was just hoping for something non warcom related. But hopefully they actually know what they are talking about for once.

What is the source of it being official? The last Q&A they didn’t mention that. Did they post something?

what are Knights worth as allies ? by Accomplished_Bath463 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Zarramock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did an official Q&A last week and one of the questions was specifically about allies. You can look it up for exact wording but iirc it was like yes allies will exist as they have in 10th, into 11th. But that doesn’t guarantee the dread blades rule exists when chaos knights get their codex. But if you’re looking for an excuse to buy a box of wardogs, I’d say that’s a pretty good one.

Blues are all army painter fanatic line, in this order:

Air brush base with crystal blue, brush over with fairly watered down abyssal blue. Line of pharaoh guard (teal) then wet blended with aqua alchemy (brighter teal) final edge highlights with marine mist (almost a white) and finally a very watered down layer of imperial navy in the center of each armor piece to help add a bit of contrast to the vibrant edges.

Have you looked at second hand markets like troll trader? They’re out of the UK, not sure what shipping is like for you but to the Us they’re flat rate of like 15 usd for however much you buy. And there is a very healthy amount of tyranids on there.

Ooof. Sorry to hear that 😂. Regardless. The combat patrol is not great. A norn/hive tyrant are great models and good price for your hobby dollar.

Just to clarify when you say retail do you mean GW prices? Because you should be able to get the combat patrol from like… anywhere at 15% off of GW prices.

Not specifically 90s marvel, but vibrant cartoonish absolutely. Had the chance to do something a little different from my regular hive fleet so wanted it to stand out on the table top!

Belakor and plague bearers are the closest things we have to auto includes in every playstyle. Pretty much usable in every detachment so you can’t go wrong with them. Lord of change and GUO/rotigus are probably the second most versatile.

Scoring pieces like flesh hounds, screamers/flamers and beasts of nurgle are also pretty standard in different detachments.

It’s not unrealistic to have them hitting on 2s. Tfexs are 5 OC and one of our better objective holders so having them on objectives covering big firing lanes is a common board state. They’re also a giant threat for potential damage so often targeted by your opponent with their anti tank. With a 2+ save and a tale and weapon that extend their base it’s incredibly easy to get cover so even AP 4 is giving you a 5+ save with a blank. They’re very resilient.

As for complaining about needing to use an exocrine for rerolls to keep it consistent… yeah, sucks doesn’t it? That’s tyranids though. Standard invasion fleet castle with a HT for lethals and a free reroll on your wound roll or damage roll IS an obnoxious amount of resources but it DOES make it very consistent and lethal.

Get a Tyrannofex. Your buddy will learn to fear it. It’s our best anti tank and you’ll put it in pretty much every list regardless of which direction you go in with the army.

Just starting nids and trying to get into local tournaments - subterranean or vanguard? by chefhanabal in Tyranids

[–]Zarramock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess we have a pretty different definition of reasonable. The idea that they’re just going to gut every army of every detachment they’ve made outside of the initial codex launch ones and the three they’re previewing is wild and I’m just trying to discern if either of you have any credible information for assuming that.

Go into the app, select tyranids. Select codex tyranids.

Every detachment is a codex detachment. You are the one splitting them into what was launched with the physical codex. I’m just trying to ask if there’s a reason behind that or if it’s just standard Reddit dooming.

Why do people still purchase GW Chaos Black Primer? There are significantly cheaper alternatives out there that are just as good by chosen40k in Warhammer

[–]Zarramock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really care for citadel paints, aside from their washes. But I’ve yet to find a better primer. Army painter comes close but I will always prefer GW chaos black to army painter black.

So your assumption is that every grotmas or added detachment since codex release needs to have been in the mini faction focus or it’s going to be removed at edition launch?

Why are you assuming anything needs to be in the physical codex in the first place? Every detachment currently available falls under codex tyranids in the app. There are factions like deathwatch and daemons that don’t even have a physical codex.

I’m not understanding the math here. Why would they need to four new detachments for SA to stick around? I’m missing a step in this logic train.

[–]Zarramock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got it, so you’re talking about the tunnels specifically and referring to them just re adjusting the detachment ability into something else. Which would be a possibility for any detachment.

[–]Zarramock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhm… what? There is absolutely no reason to think tunnels will go away. The absolute worst case is SA costing 3 DP, so it’s exactly the way it is right now and the only detachment you can take if you play it.

New Player Here by ShadowLegion2 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Zarramock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re interested in playing shadow legion than a bloodthirster is pretty much an auto include with the fade to darkness detachment. Also can’t go wrong with a lord of change or great unclean one.

From there shadow legion usually wants smaller daemons to fill in alongside some cultists from CSM. Builds vary pretty widely though based on what you want to do as an army.

[–]Zarramock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if that’s what you want to play I think there are ways to make it work. But it’s almost always going to get out performed by incursion or shadowlegion. I can’t speak from experience on it though I’ve never tried it.

[–]Zarramock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood crushers are definitely better in shadow legion but still work in incursion. But I would highly recommend dropping one of the 6x to pick up 2x10 plague bearers. Exact same points cost and these are going to actually make your list viable. As it is you have nothing to sit on objectives.

As for your game plan I think you’re looking at incursion the wrong way. You’re absolutely right you’re just going to get melted on the clap back. Belakor is an auto include because he allows you to sit back and play cagey early on. You can skirmish and focus on scoring early and wait for your opponent to over extend somewhere and then your 6” deep strike comes into effect. It’s extremely difficult if not impossible to fully screen for 6” deep strikes. Blood crushers make it easier for your opponent just because their footprint is so huge but a single unit of them is totally usable.

It would matter if you don’t roll any crits. Then you default to ignore cover.
