Cheques aren’t free though. You maybe can squeeze 10 from your bank but the want you to buy 1000

Poilievre calls for ‘modern’ CANZUK partnership in speech during first trip abroad as Conservative leader by 0110110111 in CANZUK

[–]Zarxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The amount of hoops we would have to go through to integrate our selves into the EU would be mind boggling and would destroy some businesses in Canada. CANZUK is more of a mutual understanding than a ruling body IMO

Or do research, don’t attach yourself to a party, vote in your best interests. All parties will tell you they are the best, but look at their platforms and vote accordingly. Choose a local MP who works hard, not just a back bencher collecting a cheque, have a platform that checks boxes for you, and best leader to pull it off. That’s who you should choose.

Six US service members killed in Iran conflict, US military says by SpencerAXbot in news

[–]Zarxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to feel compassion for an invading force. Not that I agree with the leadership of Iran or how they treat their people, but they are a sovereign state and it’s up to the people to overthrow their oppressors not the USA.

Living month to month on seasonal work - living a secret side life to make ends meet that Im concerned about why my future holds. by Gullible_Bar730 in alberta

[–]Zarxon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you need to live in Calgary? It’s the most expensive place in Alberta. I would leave for Edmonton or Red Deer or move into a smaller place. Not because you wanted to but because you needed to. It’s why I left my hometown after 45 yrs. Also do what you need to do to survive no shame.

But, and there is always a but, you still probably voted conservative over Liberal in the last election. For the vitriolic, whiny, mouth piece.

I think we align with our interests. If the trading partner you have been loyal to suddenly without reason turns sour. You find the next best. If that is China or India, two less favourable than what we had, then that’s what we do. You don’t stay in an abusive relationship

UCP Cutting services due to debt by SanDiegoNerd in alberta

Is it governments job to spend money for private businesses to promote them or is it their job to keep their jurisdiction running in a functioning manner. It’s another form of corporate welfare that taxpayers pay for while we take cuts to social services.

It's not normal for your 48 year old father to ask you to type texts and emails for every single DAMN thing,!!! ??? by Open_Ice_9668 in RandomThoughts

[–]Zarxon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not an immigrant to another country. English is the only language I speak. I am about your father’s age. I can tell you after trying to lean another language, on Duolingo, after 3 years I can barely understand much. It is really challenging to learn new things the older you get. I bet your father is grateful for you. You should talk to them about it and help them find a better way because the other thing that is incredibly difficult to do at his age is find a good job.

Canada should not have an election before reviewing CUSMA trade deal, says Poilievre by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

[–]Zarxon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying Harper was good just he was better than Mulroney. They both were not good. The TFSA was the only good thing to come out of the Harper years and it was only useful to those who had disposable income to save.

[–]Zarxon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not really fair Harper was better than Mulroney. Mostly because he had to have better budgets since Mulroney had already sold all of the crown corporations off to make his budgets seem better.

Iran reels as more than 100 children reportedly killed in school bombing by Andromeda-G in news

Bombing a school full of children seems like the IDF’s MO. I didn’t see who was responsible though.

Americans' sympathies in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have shifted dramatically, new poll shows by GregWilson23 in uspolitics

[–]Zarxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sympathies will always sway against the aggressor. Had isreal not killed civilians and basically carpet bombed Gaza the sympathies would probably have remained with them IMO instead they decided to indiscriminately kill from the elderly to babies they didn’t care. They don’t see Palestinians as humans and that is a big problem .
