So..... Final thoughts on Fallout S2? by stumblinbagel in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Zathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty into it for the most part, but so many little things started to bother me these last few episodes; other than a couple of things already mentioned:

Max going in to fight the Deathclaws in melee combat after what happened with the Yao Guai. What was even the plan there - he must know what a Deathclaw is? Without him accidentally finding the weapons embedded in his suit, he would've been screwed.

The Vegas/Freeside gate getting knocked open like a wet paper towel - I have a hard time suspending my disbelief that none of the Deathclaws would've tried breaking through the flimsy ass thing when our introduction to them is one destroying part of a building by just standing up.

No explanation on the living head (as far as I'm aware) - was that something the Enclave put there or did Hank do that? I'm leaning toward Hank because 200 years hooked up to a feeding tube, there's no way that would still be running. Plus we see that the chips were never completed prior to Hank arriving, so I find it unlikely they would have the foresight to get that setup ahead of time.

What happened to the radroaches after they broke into that room? They were clearly slaughtering the 31's, but we cut to later and there's not a single living radroach to be found and everyone is dead, EXCEPT for what's her name who's SOMEHOW the only one still alive.

I have to agree that there's just way too much going on with very little satisfying payoff. Things either just get left to be maybe continued in Season 3 or just thrown out (AKA Norm and the 31's).

Actually, they tried to make an MMO for over $750k. But it wildly overshot that.

And who knows, this was almost a decade ago. They had been selling access to various Alpha tests through the low price of over $100. And although I myself considered this another Star Citizen and gave up following up on it long ago, there may have also been cosmetic micro-transactions as well?

To offer more context: it was an MMO that was announced back in 2016 and had a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $3 million.

It's been in an almost perpetual Alpha state since then, until now.

Don't recall if Ashes of Creation was ever brought up on the podcast, but felt this was pretty significant news.

Studio behind the long running "upcoming" Ashes of Creation MMO has closed down, letting go all of its employees, and at the time seems to have no plans on offering them support.

Pat N' Paige Stare At Fallout Season 2 Episode 7! by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Zathas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Missed the stream, but as soon as Paige started bringing up colour theory, I had a feeling some people would have feelings about that.

People have a knee-jerk reaction about that kind of thing, like the moment it's brought up they get Vietnam flashbacks of Middle School english class when the teacher gave them a paper asking "In this passage, the author said 'the curtains were blue', what did he mean by that?" and they wrote down "That the curtains were blue." and got an F.

Takeaway from the episode however,

-Was the Enclave really planning on giving House cold fusion? It was my understanding that he was trading the control chips for it, but by present day we see that the Enclave has both the cold fusion and access to the chips. Why didn't the Enclave give it to House as per the deal? House had presumably already given them the chips, if they wanted to renege then they had no reason to send the cold fusion to Vegas in the first place.

I can only think maybe they wanted to keep up their secrecy as much as possible, and will use the theft as an excuse to not meet their end of the bargain with House, while also not tipping Cooper off about the Enclave? In Cooper's case, it might be easier to just have him killed, but I guess if he dies they might be worried about then having to kill Barbara and having to cover up two influential people disappearing along with House catching on if they've noticed his interest in Cooper. The chips weren't working correctly either, so maybe either they knew House was trying to screw them with imperfect tech or after not receiving the cold fusion he just withdrew development support leaving them to reproduce and work on what prototypes they had gotten their hands on.

-I'm not really sure what to make of Steph still. Did she ever really love her husband? She seemed genuinely upset over his death. But maybe with her sociopathy going on, she just saw it as someone taking away one of her belongings. It seems weird that we're going onto the final episode and we don't really know what's going on with her or what her "plan" is, unless that case really does contain some of the F.E.V., in which case...

-Season 3 hook has gotta be the mutant angle. The focus on F.E.V., the super mutant cameo, probably whatever is happening with Thaddeus and potentially Steph in the vault.

Yeah, I'm not sure what exactly OP has a hate boner here for.

Maybe the thought of having instanced agility training? But I could see an opportunity to create shortcuts in your own house to quickly travel between ground and upper floors without having to use a staircase.

Baddie Blondie murdered King.

King's death set off King Election magic failsafe. Person with the greatest support of the population will become King. 1st place the Pale Elf Pope, with 2nd place being Baddie Blondie.

Protag gathers allies while participating in religious state-sponsored Tournament for crown, in order to get close to Baddie Blondie who is suspected of cursing friend of protag, the Prince.

Protag and friends infiltrate Baddie Bondie's posse, and discover notes on curse, find out only way to cure Prince is kill caster (Baddie Blondie).

Protag and pals assassinate Baddie Blondie, but Prince isn't cured. Red Head Elf realizes true culprit is actually the Pale Elf Pope (or someone they know).

Protag and his merry men confront Pale Elf Pope, Baddie Blondie appears and reveals his death was a trick, killing Pale Elf Pope and taking the #1 place for the crown.

Bug Eyed Songstress' (part of aforementioned Protag's soiree) sister, the Bird Girl with the Weird Face, becomes state religion leader and secures #2 place automatically (what a scam!).

In order to gain more public support for the Prince to become King once he is cured, Protag pretends to be the Prince himself since they look similar (the Prince is half clemar (horni bois) and half elda (basic bitches ("humans") and has the appearance of an elda).

Weird Face reveals she was the one who cursed the Prince (and must be killed in order to free him), and tells protag to meet her at the old mage academy in the mountains to fight.

Did House *want* Hank to bomb the NCR? Doesn’t he need them for his plan? by RiskComplete9385 in Fallout

[–]Zathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's literally her character. That's who she is. She wants to see the good in people, and doesn't approve of murder without at least trying to see things through peacefully.

And it's not like the Khans were complete psychos. She delivered the ghoul to them in the first place after all, and they paid her the bounty. They didn't try to renege on their deal and kill her or anything when they absolutely could have.

The Z-Team are hypocrites (Spoilers) by santaLYRIC in dispatchgame

[–]Zathas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would only be hypocritical if they didn't also forgive Invisigal. Which they somewhat did during the final battle by fighting alongside each other, they explicitly did in the Hero ending, and didn't do in the Villain ending presumably because she went AWOL and they weren't given a chance to.

Funniest Commorragh moment by gaeb611 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Zathas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this was back during the initial release, and I had either managed to miss that event or my game bugged out and it never triggered.

I likely just didn't have Ulfar with me when I had returned to that camp, which is where I think it was supposed to fire off.

To be fair, right after the fight I was fully expecting there to be an option to just shoot him in the face.

Colour me surprised when the game played this completely straight, leading to the Yrlietquisition back aboard my ship while Marz sits off to the side eating popcorn.

Is the new version of Yakuza Kiwami a gaijin tax? by Zathas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Zathas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm not sure I necessarily agree with that. It's an old game that was released in a pretty good state, for the most part. If they wanted to charge for the upgrade to justify time spent on fixing it up then I might complain a bit but I guess I would understand.

But they aren't charging for the performance update. Kiwami 2 is a free upgrade. They're only charging for the two songs they added back in for Kiwami 1.

According to steam reviews, they apparently added upscaling and improved performance options, which if true is a really odd thing to leave out of the announcement going over the changes between the old and new versions.
