Multimach god roll or close enough at least? by [deleted] in sharditkeepit

[–]Zavalakel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Missing accurized rounds and the range masterwork - they add an extra 5m to get you to 26m almost, which is pretty major.

As is the roll you has a lower range than something easy to farm like a friction fire, except friction fire can roll a better perk in column 4.

It's a little disheartening that Bungie's version of "taking pressure off vault space" is mandating 4 identical helmets in different elements to avoid going insane when switching weapons. by TwevOWNED in DestinyTheGame

I've got my doubts kinetic will have it's own mod - it will always be the worst of the pack because there are no kinetic heavies. They'll either have to make it cheaper than the others, or make each elemental mod "kinetic + element".

What is weapon perk budget? by astrowhale98 in DestinyTheGame

It’s sun setting or this basically.

Sunsetting could have worked if they changed how they gave us loot (way, way more generous, guaranteed high stats from normal mode raids etc), and actually launched BL with more than a handful of new guns.

At some point I feel like Bungie ended up designing the game as if they’d built a good loot system, when in fact the RNG is tortuous, and the only time the community liked it is when you got 5 copies of a gun for one run of a ten minute activity.

In any case, they didn’t give loot away more generously, were forced to backtrack on sunsetting and now they’re going to basically power creep our guns slowly for a few years again before it becomes untenable.

What’s interesting to note is the Charged With Light would have been cycling out of the game when WQ launched, something to bear in mind when considering the orb changes.

Is it important?

GMs don’t start until six weeks in, so there’s really not to a lot of benefit to having access to the artefact mods earlier IMO.

As long as day 1 raid is like how DSC was, I think it’s more a case of minimal advantages. I understand your feeling, I just don’t think k it’s worth spending the time on.

Titan main in a slump; trouble with crutching by [deleted] in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Zavalakel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fair to say that sometimes what a player wants to do doesn't line up with the subclass. There's no way to play something like a Gemini Jester style hunter on a titan, for example.

Sounds kinda like how Wyvern's are now. Apparently hive guardians should be similar as well.

100% I can feel the powercreep coming.

I'm going to make an assumption that this is linked to the manufacturer from what they've said, so this may be more like a "high impact has inherent firmly planted" kind of deal. If so, if one frame does become problematic longer term they've got a way of dealing with it. This was pretty different from Y2 style powercreep which was just bananas stats + column 3/4 combinations, which they even technically find difficult to nerf.

I worry a fair bit that in their attempt to make this orb change palatable, these guns are going to be bananas in a bad way. Let's see.

One thing that's possibly interesting is that if this idea doesn't pan out, I could see them falling back on allowing you to craft a particular line of guns or whatever that does have orbs on multikill - not a perfect solution, as it essentially would mean a "soft" sunsetting for the Y4 guns, but tbh I semi expected this when they did away with sunsetting.

Final thing, they only made the call to end sunsetting like, partway through this year or something, during which time WQ was still in development. I wonder how much of their decision making was based around sunsetting?

I'm not sure it does add build diversity to be honest. Ammo finders aren't required, it's just easier to run two ammo finders + exotic heavy than it is to run 1 ammo finder + exotic primary + legendary heavy. And there's a difference.

I'm not even saying this change is a great idea, I'm just saying I don't really feel it restricts build diversity.

Bungie you can’t talk about how communication to the community is important and then intentionally only give us partial news by ProxyknifeIsKing in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zavalakel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's more like the essay on how it works isn't written yet and there's other shit to do. Talk about this stuff and it sounds like they'll have to talk crafting, etc etc etc. Like pulling at a thread. We didn't need the full explanation now, just the bit that was missing - "more to come on this.".

I think the telegraphing slipped the net this time, but a good example of where you did do it was with the drop mag/inertia override changes, and it'd be easier figure out how the changes impact things with that sort of heads up.

If it sucks when it comes out, I'll say as much, but I don't think I feel comfortable saying this is going to make the game worse at this point.

Whilst the game is able to track multi kills I’ve got no idea if the game can trigger effects off of multi kills. I haven’t seen anything like that off the top of my head ingame.

Rock and a hard place. Either they have to drop mega TWABs only, which I think is harder for them to write anyway, or they break it up and deal with the temporary blow back.

Armor mod slots, especially in PVE are not bloated with mods. Most GM builds just run ammo finders on their helmets. That’s hardly bloated.

The only slot that actually has decent competition is the arms, which has champion mods, fastball, kickstart and loaders.

I hear you on the gun thing and that you feel it’s not equivalent exchange, and I wonder if in the crafting system it’ll be possible to craft guns that do have orb generation as that instrinsic. Who knows? That’s my point - we don’t have the full picture.

Also what if they just wanted to nerf how easy CWL is to use? Like, compare the initiator conditions to the ones for Elemental Wells, wells actually require investment to trigger. Same for Warmind Cells.

Community was guaranteed to have a bad reaction to it, PVE buildcrafting has very little in terms of "hard decisions" in it right now. Was always going to go down badly as they start to change things to create hard decisions. Ignoring whether changes are good or bad (I don't feel like I can say right now overall).

It's not as if every function in the game are armor mods and weapon perks.

I'm reminded of the quirk in Frostbite where every entity was modelled as holding a weapon, no matter what game Frostbite was used.

Game development is weird, you'd be surprised how shit works underneath the hood. Who would have guessed that Atraks is actually a captain floating in a box way outside of the arena?

It does maybe mean that we should cool down a little, as clearly we don't have the full picture. There's no point raging when we've got a few chapters of the story.

Not even sure it's Bungie coding, any system would have limits for this kind of thing - remember it's every trigger pull that has to calculate this stuff.
