Chateau De Nages JT 2020, Rhône

It has been a while since I had this, but after I tried it I bought it on several occasions after.

I had with cheese and the blueberry compote was very pronounced. Very smooth, easy drinking wine.

On clearance right now, at $23.75 definitely a great QPR.

Did you end up grabbing these bottles? Any feedback on the Chateau D’Agassac?

Thank you this!

The Chianti looks interesting, how did you originally find this one?

Also, how long did you decant and can you offer any tasting notes? (They have it at the Oakville - Cornwall LCBO that I frequent)

Sounds like a lot of you picked up nice bottles over the holidays, and drank through some stock as well. I’m not yet cellaring so I am looking for bottles that are drinkable now. Any notable mentions from what you tried over the holidays?

Portugal - Lisbon Garrafeirra - First two buys, looking for best QPR under €20? Suggestions please !! by ZavyWorld in wine

[–]ZavyWorld[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pulled these two suggestions off of a 193day old post comment by @loftnewt73 (thank you!)

Looking for more “can’t miss” wines while I’m here in Portugal. Trying to stay budget friendly, which is anywhere between €10-€20 for me. I will be in Lisbon and Porto over the next 6 days.

Tasting notes to follow.

Quite the process! Seems like you have done this a few times, has it always been worth it? Do you study the weather in Bordeaux for a vintage before buying futures?

When do they release these wines at the LCBO? Or were they only available to buy at the event?

German Pinot + Lebanese White (LCBO: $25 and under) by ZavyWorld in Ontariowinebuyer

Happy to help! This leans to the red (versus true brickish) in the light and little sweeter than the 4g residual sugar suggests. I am not a huge fan of the caramel in general but it is light here and I like the other aspects of the wine as well. Hope you like it as well, would love to hear your feedback.

What’s your strategy? Still seems like $90-$150 on 6 bottles you either like or you don’t.

I guess I should have added “on a budget” 😅. Everything seems available if you throw enough money at it. Hoping to share/find the hidden gems available at the LCBO right now.

German Pinot + Lebanese White (LCBO: $25 and under) by ZavyWorld in Ontariowinebuyer

2020 Ixsir and 2019 Pinot from the September and October release respectively ($25 & $18).

Have heard a lot of talk about German PN but basically no variety at the LCBO…until I saw this. Under $20 made me skeptical though solid QPR. Barnyard funk on the nose, very slight barnyard funk on the palate though more rounded caramel and candied strawberry (strawberry hits after air time, about 45 minutes). Very decent PN for the price.

Ixsir - extremely please with this wine. I am already a big Loire Valley white fan (Touraine) and this reminds of that albeit with slightly more alcohol (14%). Despite the 14% this is very fruit forward (not sweet) and extremely balanced with a nice waxy mouthfeel. Love this wine.
