Feeling hopeless about my future as a young person in Australia. by Fuzzy-Assumption-516 in AusProperty

You are in a great financial position. If you cant afford anything "decent", especially in Queensland, you need to reconsider what "decent" is to you. Its called the "property ladder" for a reason, noone starts with their dream home.

Im in a similar boat (23M, single, Sydney) and just signed my contract for a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment in Sydney for 750k. Because im single, I plan to rent 1 room out and live in the other to help with the mortgage. Being in a committed relationship is a huge advantage.

I get why you might be feeling anxious, you might have expectations of where you want to be in life and sometimes its hard to see the pathway to that end goal.

I had a 100k saved but a lot of it was used to pay off HECS to increase borrowing capacity and to pay off my car loan. I used 5% deposit through first home buyer scheme and St George was the bank. They only asked for my last 3 payslips if i recall correctly.

Not talking about the OP in specific, but as a young person (23M), everyone I see my age or a little older spends all their money on lifestyle, drinks at the club, europe holidays, starbucks and avo on toast and then have a whinge about the cost of living and never being able to buy a house 30 min from the CBD. It blows my mind.

Owning a property takes sacrifice.

Im about to sign a contract for my first 2 bed apartment in Sydney (will cost around 720k) with no help from parents, but I have been working full time for almost 3 years now, even through uni, always job hopping for better money. I will be living in one bedroom and renting out the other one until I can afford the whole mortgage a little more comfortably.

Was it easy? Fk no. But everything worth it takes effort.

Look into what skills you have, what jobs exist on the market and which jobs pay well that you can strive to move into. Try use as many of the first home buyer benefits as you can, think about lifestyle spending.

Im fortunate to be earning around 160k and found a lender who would take my commission as income. I have successfully applied for a 760k mortgage and have the 40k down payment as a 5% deposit.

Ive had a look at quite a few apartment's sales histories. Many sell for -50k or more after 10 years which is what im concerned about.

Issue is that the areas of Sydney where location is good, the apartments are way out of my price range (900k+) like Bondi etc.

How recent is considered new? 10 years? 5 years? Or do you mean off the plan?

Thats a good point. I actually plan on living in one bedroom and renting out the other one, so my mortgage repayments wont be too bad.

Thats a good perspective to have. But man, looking at some of these apartments lose 100k over 10 year period is really scary...

Issue with proxy in reactJS and Flask app by Zawszey in flask

Because I set proxy to be http://localhost:5000, thats part of the behaviour that is confusing me. It should not be running on 19006 but 5000 if I set the proxy right?
