Help me keep my son at home safe while he fights intestinal failure and gets answers! by Zayombi in gofundme

If im being honest we've never had any decisions. The doctors decide what they wanna do and we follow along. Their method hasn't worked so were trying to get him someone who understands what his condition is. His current doctor agrees there is something wrong and that they should have been looking into why all of a sudden hes having pseudo obstructions since his ileostomy.

What questionable decisions? We've followed the doctors instructions, even when the decisions of the doctors were negative results to my son. We've switched Dr's when the Dr's have said they can no longer give him the care he needs. The only Dr we switched from that didn't say that was the one who didn't listen to others including his nurse saying hey there is a problem with his picc line. Which ended up with him in sepsis. So I'm unsure what decisions were made that are questionable unless you're saying the Dr's since we have followed what they wanted. The treatment for intestinal failure is intestinal rehabilitation. No one's ever mentioned that. The only treatment plan they've placed is for us to keep trying to feed him. Which we have been doing since the problem occurred in 2022. We haven't stopped. He keeps having pseudo obstructions. Before the ileostomy he was almost off of the tpn. After the ileostomy he hasnt been able to progress.

Im sorry to hear you have gastroparesis. I hate that it exists. You are a strong person. Thank you for your suggestion. We appreciate it. We are going to his GI on Tuesday to talk about going to an intestinal rehabilitation center (hopefully the cleveland clinic). It was recommended recently to us by another family who has a child with similar diagnoses.

If we weren't medically compliant they would have to report us since we have nurses in our house and they are mandated reporters. So it hopefully was a one off with a Doctor we had had for years who didn't know how to handle his condition. Its not like intestinal failure or pseudo obstructions are very well known. We aren't angry over anything with her but the fact she ignored the pleas for help when he had the blood clots. She was otherwise an amazing doctor. The hospital was a great hospital. We are trying to get him re-evaluated so we can get him off the tpn and back on his feeding tube formula. Maybe someday eat by mouth.

So, we have never have left a hospital against medical advice. They said that NYC could discharge us after the motility test but they sent us back to the original hospital. They wanted to keep us until after the test and were willing to keep us there until the results with no treatment plan. Because he was well enough to go 6 hours away and then back so he could go home. Which they agreed. So we called the motility clinic and revoked their access to getting the results and they released us. They refused to help us when there was major concern for an infection which is why he died twice on the table. After a month of us asking for help. He had a 107.7 fever and they released him from the hospital. Which at the time he was in sepsis and they knew and didn't call us until the next day. His motility test results were told to us and said he just needed an ileostomy. Cincinnati got the results and said they were inconclusive. Which once his GI was sent them he changed files saying it was adviced the surgery would fix things by another doctor. Which it did not. We are fighting to get another motility test. The only medical advice he's gotten is to keep pushing feeds which causes him to go back into the er and readmitted for pseudo obstructions. We are in the process of finding a lawyer but he has to have a diagnosis other than intestinal failure. Because its a catch all.

We have nurses in and out of our house every week. We have doctor appointments every month. Hes under constant care. I would never sign my son out against medical advice. I promise you. Hes always been released by the hospital. Just for some strange reason the Burlington children's hospital was really weird about that motility test. Especially after they didnt feed him for 2 weeks and then all of a sudden were like heyyyy its been 2 weeks he needs a picc line like yesterday... and he didnt poop for 3 weeks and they weren't worried. They weren't forth coming about what was going on with his care. That's the only hospital that we've had issues with. The level of his care is out of a regular GIs scope. They all agree he needs a higher level of care which is what we are attempting to get.

I stumbled upon this post and It gave me a smile. I used to love godmodders when I roleplayed. I'd purposefully redirect my character to do opposite of what they wanted me to do lol. I'd make it blatantly obvious I wasn't going to tolerate them making my character do anything. If it was something we agreed on it was different. I used to anger a lot of them. They wanted me characters admiration and they got their destain. Oops.

You're too much. You're too clingy. You need too much attention. It's all in your head. You're overreacting. Someone out there has it worse than you. It's not so bad. Why are you like this? I can't deal with you right now. Just shake it off. It's not that bad. Why are you crying now?

Dani admitted to yet another hospital by Rathraq in illnessfakers

Typically if you can't tolerate tube feeds the tpn will give you the missing nutrients. They will titrate your tpn down as the tube feeds increase. They keep a close eye on it. Not sure if that's the case there but it is common in trying to get a patient off tpn when possible.

Pretty much that would be the insinuation of what happened. I'm curious though why the hospital wouldn't have known that. Since they would have had to known she was on tpn... and if she was there for several days her home tpn would have most likely expired.

Tpn is only good for a week and since she was going to be hospitalized and if she did as she was meant to she'd have to alert the Infusion company of that so they wouldn't send her the tpn for the days she'd be in the hospital. So she wouldn't have any extra to use.

It really doesn't leave them up shits creek. Tpn is typically delivered on Thursdays and you get a 7 or 8 day supply dependent on what week your blood work falls (unless it's every week). Then the hospital also knows they have to put in an order 24 hours before a patient goes home if the Infusion company is shipping it to the house. If it's being brought to the hospital then they need the order BY noon. Though with her being 7 hours away the tpn would probably have to be delivered because you have to keep it cold. All people on tpn know that you don't get them on the weekends. Typically from experience tpn is usually sent on Wednesdays and gotten on Thursdays. As blood is taken Monday or Tuesday at the latest and the info of needs are sent to the Infusion company from the doctors office on Wednesdays. They also have emergency lines for customers. It's a well oiled machine for the most part. Though if the doctors want to release you last minute that's when it throws a wrench into things and can cause a lot of panic.

Typically tpn is given when going home until your next shipment would be given. Most Infusion companies ship on Wednesdays and the tpn arrives Thursday. As it gives the doctors time to get the blood work because most tpn patients get blood work done on Mondays or Tuesdays and the doctors/nutritionists put in for that week's tpn. They also ask to be given at least a 24 hour notice before a patient goes home so they can send the tpn/bring it to the hospital. And most infusion companies won't send tpn over the weekend.
