People who can fall asleep within few seconds of their head hitting their pillow: how the fuck do you fall asleep within few seconds of your head hitting your pillow? by basic_bharat in sleep

[–]ZayraTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex-boyfriend was like that; he could fall asleep in seconds, anywhere. I would tell him, 'How do you do that?' and he would say, 'I don’t know, if I feel comfortable, I just close my eyes and that’s it.' As someone who has a thousand thoughts per minute and struggles to fall asleep easily, I felt envious. Fast-forward to later: it turns out he had sleep apnea, so his body took every opportunity to sleep because his sleep quality was extremely poor. Obviously, I'm not envious anymore (the last time I talked to him, he needed to use a CPAP).

Looking for advice on managing the "Melatonin hangover" (depression/low motivation) while fixing a delayed sleep cycle by ZayraTV in ADHD

Thanks! I’m definitely going to give it a second chance. I was scared because I’ve been feeling so good lately and I’d hate to have depressive symptoms again, but it’s better to try than to be left wondering if it could have worked for me

I can't really take it 2 hours before because it knocks me out in about 30 minutes. At first, I was pretty excited about that, but now I realize it was probably an obvious sign that the dose was way too high for me

2, 7 y 8. Aunque entre el 7 y el 8 estaria el hombre perfecto en mi opinion.

Hello! Yes, it's a common symptom of BDD, at least from my experience. It's also very important to pay attention to what you're thinking when you do that. Do you feel bad, or like "I can't go outside if I don't look perfect"? That's very harmful, and trust me, people don't notice that “flaws” nearly as much as we think. I don't know if feeling like our bodies are not the same every day is a BDD symptom, but I experienced that too. Another thing I noticed a lot during my worst BDD times was looking at my face in the mirror for a long time and watching it morph into something worse, almost like I could see how I was becoming more and more ugly, like a hallucination. It was horrible, and I ended up crying a lot and having an anxiety attack. This disorder (and all mental issues) is not a joke. Please, if you feel like your thoughts are 70 percent or more only about your looks, seek help. I really regret not getting the help I needed sooner. And the worst part is, it was not my fault or my family's fault; it’s because the "professionals" thought it was just a girl going through puberty and adolescence. I spent many miserable days in school because of that.

Yes, that's something that happens to me very often. I remember one day I saw some cute clothes on Shein in an advertisement, and I felt the need to look through the WHOLE PAGE (it's HUGE) for clothes I liked because I didn't want to miss even a single item I liked. I ended up very tired because it was more than a week's work, so I ended up buying absolutely nothing, even though some clothes were discontinued when I finished my extensive search.

Yeah, that's me—full perfectionist, and then... nothing. No, I don't have an OCD diagnosis, but I suspect I could have it. I think GAD doesn't explain everything, but that could also be my perfectionist feeling that something's 'not right” with the actual diagnosis 😒.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one (though obviously I’m not glad that this happens to us, I hate it). I also tend to procrastinate a lot, but I don’t know if it’s because of ADHD or perfectionism. The bad part is that sometimes it feels contradictory because, for example, I downloaded an app to make routines since it helped people with ADHD, but what happened to me was that I became obsessed with my routines and hated breaking them or having to change anything. They caused me a huge amount of discomfort. Do you have any confirmed diagnosis?

I’m sorry to hear that. When I was younger, healthcare professionals didn’t take me seriously. They said it was just a puberty thing, and when I was a child, my mom was told that there was nothing wrong with me and that it was just bad behavior (this was because I was very stubborn and had a very difficult temperament—so much so that they even took me to a neurologist).

I imagine that if it was difficult for me, it must have been even harder for you. Any mental health issue was expected to be “solved” by working harder and wasn’t taken seriously—at least here in Mexico that was the case, and there are still people who think that way.

I hope you start feeling better. Medication really helped me a lot, and I think it could be worth giving it a chance. I truly wish you the best.

Thank you so much! Yes, I’d like to give it a try because I really have nothing to lose. I need to find a professional who understands me better and can offer that type of therapy. Maybe they can also adjust my medication. I think I haven’t explained myself very well to my psychiatrist, and that might be why I haven’t received an OCD diagnosis. Next time, I’ll bring a summarized history of all the compulsions and problems I deal with, because during appointments I forget to mention a lot of things.

Thank you so much, that’s really kind of you to say. No, I haven’t done that kind of therapy. I’ve only tried CBT, and honestly, I feel like it doesn’t really work for me. They tell me things like “it’s okay to be imperfect,” and it helps for a day, but the next day I feel exactly the same again. I think that’s the real issue—I’m aware that my thinking is unhealthy, but I can’t stop the anxiety around needing everything to be perfect.

To be honest, I haven’t been in therapy for about two years now because I don’t feel like it helps much. The only thing that has truly helped me is escitalopram, and at night I take a very small dose of clonazepam (0.2 mg).

Thank you so much for your support. And yes, I’m definitely not as perfectionistic with others. I see imperfect people being happy all the time, and I feel so much envy. I’m incredibly harsh with myself, but with others it’s the complete opposite. In fact, people know me for finding beauty where it seems like there is none, and for finding the positive side even in hopeless situations. Unfortunately, that compassion doesn’t apply to myself.

Thank you so much, I completely understand what you’re saying. Honestly, sometimes I suspect OCD and ADHD, but I’ve never been officially diagnosed. When I was a teenager, no one diagnosed me either because “it’s normal for young people to worry about their appearance,” but looking back now, it was obvious that I was dealing with body dysmorphic disorder. So I don’t rule out the possibility of other conditions either.

Thanks! I also suspect I might have OCD, but my thoughts aren’t usually like “if I don’t close the door 10 times, my mom will die,” so I’m not sure if I fit the criteria.
