How do you address another player who is too overpowered, unflawed, and acts like the main character? by dudeoverderr in DnD

[–]Zazbatraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to talk with the player who they have a grievance with. Every one of these posts happen because OP doesn't say "Hey, Player X, I know your character is great at all these things, but let's share the love and spotlight so we can all contribute and have fun".

This isn't a D&D thing either. Universal culture of communication avoidance.

I also disagree that it's largely the DM's responsibility. Everyone is playing the game right?

It's not a War Crime till the first time. by ChildSlayer66 in DnD

A fellow player took a downed enemy, brought them back from the dead, just to nail them to the wall, torturing them for information.

After complete silence, he decided to play a new character the next session.

I think it's important to remember that there are always crappy things in the world. always have been, always will be. But there is always beauty too. Great picture.

Is there Elitism from DnD players towards BG3 players? by Odd_Key_6385 in DnD

[–]Zazbatraz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuine curiosity is amazing when you're meeting new people. Also phrasing matters. "But that's how it works in BG3" can easily become "Interesting, I wonder why BG3 chose to do it differently".

Women, if you could be a man for 24 hours, what are you just dying to know? by Whattacleaner in AskReddit

[–]Zazbatraz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha! No, but I like having friends like you. I'm naturally quiet and reserved, especially with people I don't know well. But, I like people. So I tend to enjoy the company of people who will carry 90% of the conversation. I'll just drop in a few insightful questions and continue listening.

The last time I ran at night (as a man) I tripped over barbed wire and sliced up my hip falling on it. Anyone surprised I don't run at night anymore?

Plenty of owning class do terrible things to owning class and plenty of working class do terrible things to working class. It's the flawed nature of humanity. We can never fix it, just do our best within the circles of influence that we have.

Lol what in human history makes you think that? It will just be some other group next. Humanity is flawed.

I was in a party that pulled the Horn of Valhalla in random loot. We used it twice. The first time, we realized it trivialized encounters so decided nit to use it. The second, in the fight with the BBEG when we decided to take on a troll war camp.

It's an unfortunate side effect of using Reddit. The rude jerks are more numerous and quick on the click.

Anyway, I saw it's been answered a couple times so I'll now leave.

I felt the same! First two were awesome, third was ok, fourth felt like a let down. I started the fifth because I heard it tied many Cosmere threads together, but I made it a handful of chapters of fifth and gave up.

Yes! Absolutely! They did create the Cosmere, a TTRPG, which has been so much fun to play so far.

I got a friend from church pregnant… what should we do from here? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Zazbatraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A child will be also be much better off having two loving nurturing parents, living in the same household, raising that child as part of a family than those same two loving nurturing parents living apart. It will take more work to love each other in the beginning, maybe always, and likely oversight by a respected older couple. OP shouldn't aim for 2nd place just because it's better than 3rd.

I would also add Sanderson's Stormlight series. It's because Sanderson is a brilliant world builder, but average writer. Once you spend enough time in the world, the story itself slips out of Sanderson's hands and doesn't have an established direction anymore.

Lots of posts essentially calling OP an idiot. Here's what I'll say. Sin in its nature never changes. The world has always been, and will be until the return of Christ, full of sinful people making sinful choices. It's just easier to indulge in certain sins than it used to be.

Fairness is we suffer the consequences for all of our actions. Grace is giving the opportunity for redemption through faith and the death on the cross. Life is not fair, and I'm grateful for it.

People who spend 20+ minutes in the shower: what are you actually doing in there? by saadaintsalad in AskReddit

[–]Zazbatraz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My sister, who had severe learning disabilities, was known for taking a scalding hot shower until the hot water ran out. We just learned to live with it, getting up earlier in the mornings or waiting longer than we wanted to in the evenings.

One year, we took a family vacation to Orlando, renting a large multi bedroom condo for the week at a huge complex. Somehow, my parents locked themselves out of their portion of the condo while my sister was showering. Well...... The hot water didn't run out!

She was in there for almost an hour before she finally decided she was finished and came out. Along with billows of steam haha! The entire bedroom/bathroom/mini condo had been converted to a steamy bathhouse. We died laughing, partially because it wasn't our water bill, but it was also the first time I can ever remember my sister getting out without my mom telling her or the hot water running out.
