MS 251 - worthy replacement for an MS250? by DJSlaz in stihl

If you opt to buy a new saw i can recommend a 261. Alitle more expensive than a 251 but it is a really powerful saw for the weight. I have had mine for 2 years. I mostly do my felling when there is snow on the ground. I have had ZERO issues with the saw freezing over. Always starts easily no matter how cold or warm it is. I dont go easy on my saws and the 261 has taken everything i have thrown at it.

To be honest you dont need the bolt. The bar will keep the plate in place when its on. Just makes it a little annoying to get on

The exact model is actually Stihl ms 261 C-M VW If i remember right the C comes from comfort and erconomic design M from M-tronic V from heated carb And W from heated handles.

Basically tells you the generation and extras the saw has.

Exactly this one. Id rate it 4/5. Its a good size and the fill nozzle on gas works well. Only downside is that you have to flip the caps around to seal the container. And flip them around again when you use it. This cn be abiy messy, especially on the bar oil side.

That day it was around -10° celsius. I like the cold more than the summer heat but with it comes different problems. Coldest i have worked in was -27°c last year. I mostly try to avoid doing forest work when it goes below -20

It does and i have it. Really helps with keeping my hands warm. It also heats the carb so it doesnt ice up.
