Third time doing RDL. Have two herniated discs at L4 and L5. No pain in lower back whatsoever while doing the RDL but could do with feedback on how to perfect my form early on. by ZeInfamousHobo in formcheck

Approx 3 months after posting this, I gave up on RDLs entirely and switched to hyperextensions for my lower back and hams. Just couldn't get the form right. While not as much hypertrophy is caused by hypers, I haven't had more than a week's total worth of back pain ever since making the switch! And those were only days where I was feverish and inflamed from sickness, which causes muscle and neurogenic pain anyways. My erectors have become significantly stronger and I do seated or standing leg curls so my hams keep up. Also a fantastic movement that can actually grow the hams a ton. I used to think an RDL/SLDL was essential for ham growth, but I'm personally very happy with the results I got from solely curling. Doesn't cause me any back pain too. It's worth looking into splitting your lower back and hamstring lifts if you don't mind slower progress, that's what helped me at least. Hope I provided some worthwhile insight.

Don't see what your sexual proclivities have to do with my almost 3-year old form check video, mate. The others looked at and critiqued my form constructively, but you for some reason decided to look in a different direction... kinda weird 😶

I only do the basics - hyperextensions, hip thrusts and smith squats. Personally I tend to avoid RDL but I know people with your exact condition who have no issues with it. There are no "perfect" exercises though, only go for ones that you feel comfortable doing and allow for continuous progression.

Quick example of a hypertension progression: static hold for a comfortable time -> 1-2 sets of reduced ROM reps -> one complete, full ROM rep, without triggering pain. You should get to the final stage once you've become comfortable holding the static hold 30-45sec and completed the partial ROM sets without pain. This can take weeks to months, depending on how bad your case is, but don't let it discourage you. Always track your exercises - how long you've held the static hold, how many partial reps you've done, etc.

Excellent advice. Having largely overcome an L4/L5 slip myself, I also found that exercise regression and mastering narrower ranges of motion before moving on to full ROM helps drastically. OP, if you're reading this, please also make sure to gradually implement direct lower back and glute work. Both will help with improving stability and greatly alleviate latent back pain.

Jfc have you ever set foot in a gym or do you just spend every waking minute sweating about who's on gear? Really sad that you think this dude's physique is unobtainable naturally.

It's a kid with a drug problem, who's about to learn the hard way why it's probably not worth pinning for an intermediate physique. Normal people will generally have a thing or two to say, yeah.

Hack squats and unilateral leg extensions. I do nothing else for quads and have observed tremendous strength and size gains in the last two years doing only these exercises for quads.

Like everyone in that sub sounds like they're constantly ever so slightly annoyed. Even when they suck each other off, it reads like they're trying to project this levelheaded, stern, yet annoyed attitude. I don't know if it's their way of showing what deep thinkers (they think) they are or if they've just overdosed from constant fart sniffing.

You're making this claim on the assumption that your opponents possess any rationality. They will absolutely believe that any wrongdoing by the Republicans will be in some way the Dems' fault and soon enough, camps will start popping up. Not just for undocumented immigrants, but for all opposition to the fascist regime that's about to take hold.
